@Pinkblueberry yeah I said upthread that we had a conversation about it...most of them have bought themed mask for Christmas or Halloween etc.

@Iknowwhatudidlastsummer

I've never bought a giraffe in my life either.
And work provides them? Livin' the dream.
MagnoliaBeige · 28/01/2021 20:20

Blimey you’ve got them frothing at the mouth OP! Grin

I’ve never bought one either, I use buffs as I’ve got lots of them for winter, running etc already and I find them much more comfortable than masks.

gagaoolaalaa · 28/01/2021 20:22

@MagnoliaBeige I know!! Isn't it strange what the ole Mumsnetters get frothy about??🤣🤣 I honestly didn't even think about it being "clickbait style" I just type as I say it in my head
@kowari you're going to hate me then!! I go through upwards of 22 per day
Different if you are required to at work. Are you taking extra for home though? Or using reusable where you can?

mineofuselessinformation · 28/01/2021 20:24

I'm interested to know what the point of this thread is - and the tinkly laugh, head-tilting replies. 🤷🏻‍♀️Hmm
Are you bored, OP?

gagaoolaalaa · 28/01/2021 20:25

@kowari they come in sterile packs of two and one in the graded area. I take pack walking in and a pack after lunch. I usually have one or two leftover in my car

oh thanks, I was looking for another one of the MN bingo to go with fuming and shaking with rage. I forgot about "frothing at the mouth" especially funny when posters are just taking the piss of the OP
😂

WingClipped · 28/01/2021 20:26

This is an odd thread even by AIBU standards.

My work gives me £110 a month as a "wellness" allowance so technically they provide me with trainers and leggings. (Gym membership when they're open.) Also a hefty travel allowance each year so I never buy flights, train tickets or hotel stays either.

I have to buy my own masks though the bastards. I might take it up with the union...

Oldraver · 28/01/2021 20:27

Cant stand disposable masks as they are sweaty and itchy. Ive only ever bought one as I make my own

CommanderBurnham · 28/01/2021 20:30

Well congratulations on not having to buy a mask.

PattyPan · 28/01/2021 20:31

I haven’t bought any either because my MIL bought them for us. We have 3 reusable ones each.

tatutata · 28/01/2021 20:32

Dicky thread.

Mrgrinch · 28/01/2021 20:33

Ffs I'd feel like such a shit person if I was using 5 disposable masks a day, that's a ridiculous amount of waste.

XingMing · 28/01/2021 20:34

I have bought a lot of masks, all washable and reusable, for DH, DS and me. About 20 so far.

whoamongstus · 28/01/2021 20:34

I own about 8 now because people keep making cloth masks in cute patterns.

Also, the planet!

gagaoolaalaa · 28/01/2021 20:36

@Mrgrinch would you prefer medicines on the market to be made in a non compliant manner or should we all just breathe our germs all over the raw materials, testing equipment, sterile vials etc?

I know!! Isn't it strange what the ole Mumsnetters get frothy about??🤣🤣 I honestly didn't even think about it being "clickbait style" I just type as I say it in my head I'm sure you didn't think your title was click-bait hmmm.
At least own it.

tarapinn · 28/01/2021 20:36

Grinch. It depends where you work , obviously

CoffeeRunner · 28/01/2021 20:37

I don’t buy them either. I wear the ones supplied at work every day (NHS) and was given a box of 100 for personal use months ago. This lasts absolutely ages for supermarket trips etc. DH & DS2 work for a company that gave them two washable masks each. So they don’t buy them either. DS1 wears a fabric washable mask that he already owned.

Bit odd to start a thread about it though.

Elmo230885 · 28/01/2021 20:38

It's one thing having to wear disposable masks at work but taking them home and using the disposables is extremely wasteful.

Mrgrinch · 28/01/2021 20:39
@Mrgrinch would you prefer medicines on the market to be made in a non compliant manner or should we all just breathe our germs all over the raw materials, testing equipment, sterile vials etc?
Surely it's not impossible to use washable. Seriously if you're clever enough to work in a lab then you're clever enough to sterilise a piece of fabric and put it into a container to stop it becoming contaminated.

The environmental effects of this pandemic are going to be unbelievable.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 28/01/2021 20:39

I haven't bought any but I have made a few of my own. In November I made one out of Christmas fabric. I have a beach hut one, a spotty one and a stripy one.

onedaybabywellbeold · 28/01/2021 20:40

Hahaha this thread has made me laugh. The pile on! The OP had no idea what she was letting herself in for!

Blurp · 28/01/2021 20:41

I've never bought one either (made & was given some cloth ones; someone left a pack of disposable ones in my car which I dip into occasionally if I've forgotten my washable one).

Didn't realise it was something to write home about though.
