Anyone else never bought a mask?? 🤣it has been nearly a year and I have never had to buy one.

OP posts:
Emeraldshamrock · 28/01/2021 23:52

I have yet to find one that doesn't result in instant blindness (from totally steamed up glasses) the moment I set foot inside a shop!
My Dsis uses shaving foam on her glasses she volunteers at a test centre she is wearing a mask for hours.
Put a small bit of shaving foam & wipe she swears by it.

I'm PMSL at the posters who are arsey on this thread, finding it so boring but compelled to post. Some of them, numerous times
True you get sucked in.
OP I apologise for mocking your thread title it is a fun thread afterall. Flowers

PeggyHill · 29/01/2021 01:15

I have never bought one. They've never been mandatory where I live. I've only ever seen people wearing them on occasion at the GP clinic.

SleepingStandingUp · 29/01/2021 01:17

Weirdest stealth boast thread ever

DimplesToadfoot · 29/01/2021 01:27

I made my own :-) so I haven't bought any either, I did have to buy the fabric, nose wire, thread, elastic and sewing machine though :-/

To think I can't be the only one who has never bought a mask?!!
MissMarpleDarling · 29/01/2021 01:50

Got loads at my work and loads at my partners work but I got a nice one for xmas so wear that 😂

katy1213 · 29/01/2021 01:56

@blueluce85 You can save the planet all you like, but flimsy, badly-fitting paper/fabric masks are not going to save you or anyone around you from a virus. I suppose they're better than nothing, but only just.

LemonSwan · 29/01/2021 02:03

Yes I had never bought any either until a few weeks back. I was refusing to buy a reusable one as it felt like me accepting the virus isnt going anywhere soon and I wasnt ready to do that.

I bought some gorgeous satin silk ones and my god they are lovely. So pleased I finally did.

lovelemoncurd · 29/01/2021 02:27

Good for you op!

PurpleHoodie · 29/01/2021 03:00

Thanks TwoZero

Thanks Pink

I wish on MN there was a sliding scale (say 1-5j that you could vote on based on the thread title vs what the thread is actually about.

steff13 · 29/01/2021 04:33

Weird flex

Oreservoir · 29/01/2021 05:10

Yes. Title should have been never paid for a mask.

Most masks are pretty ineffective. A lot of people have spent a lot of time making masks, in the future I’m sure there’ll be studies on it.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 29/01/2021 05:19

I'm
The opposite as I have bought loads in my quest to find one that doesn't fog up my glasses. My best one is actually a tiger one as it fits really well. I do have some interesting ones like my led ones that move when I talk and one I can program to send messages through an app in my phone. Those are not used for protection though but for fun for my year 2 class. I am k Ken for my collection which does include a pack of paper ones for emergencies.

I think when all this is over I shall make something out of all the masks I have, maybe cushion covers or something similar to remember what a time this was.

mineofuselessinformation · 29/01/2021 06:49

@gagaoolaalaa I use the standard m2.5 ones. Not sure of the size.

peak2021 · 29/01/2021 07:15

I doubt if most cabinet ministers have bought one, seeing as they hardly ever wear them. Which they could do to set an example, as could MPs who are physically present in the chamber.

kowari · 29/01/2021 07:32

the reusable homemade ones actually do nothing if I'm being honest with you.
Depends what you are using them for. I wear mine so they let me in Aldi and so I don't get stared at or questioned while in there. I also wear it when working away from my workspace as instructed by my manager. I don't expect it to protect me. It serves its purpose well.

FrankskinnerscRoc · 29/01/2021 07:32

Aaaw come on you lot, this is no worse than the rest of the drivel that’s on here the majority of the time. Ignore them OP, they’re jealous. One comes on & says something, & rest follow Grin

Butchyrestingface · 29/01/2021 07:41

@LubaLuca

You could have titled your thread "I get masks free from work so I don't buy them." Then everybody would have known not to bother responding because there is no response to that.
Where’s the goadiness in that though?
Shouldputcheeseonit · 29/01/2021 07:49

I have never bought paper clips.
There. I said it.

PeggyHill · 29/01/2021 07:53

@Shouldputcheeseonit

I have never bought paper clips. There. I said it.
There is no need to be so boastful. I spend thousands on paperclips every year. Spare a thought for someone like me before you say such goady things! Sad
lanbro · 29/01/2021 07:56

I've never bought one either, my sister makes reusable ones...

SmileyClare · 29/01/2021 07:59

Bold statement cheeseonit You must feel better for getting that out Grin

Is it a good idea to state that fabric masks are "useless" and everyone should wear medical grade masks, on a public forum? A basic face covering is sufficient in most public areas.

There's a reason the WHO recommend the majority of people wear fabric or disposable masks and don't tell the entire population to order (or take from work) the medical grade masks.

lovemelongtime · 29/01/2021 08:18

What a bizarre thing to post

SoledOut · 29/01/2021 08:30

I have bought washable ones - I hate the idea of using disposable ones, the environment and the planet still matters you know!
