Anyone else never bought a mask?? 🤣it has been nearly a year and I have never had to buy one.

Where do you work that taking them for your own use is ok?

I wear multiple masks provided by my employer every day/night shift. I supply my own for my personal use. It would be theft otherwise.

gagaoolaalaa · 28/01/2021 20:41

@Mrgrinch I wouldn't be allowed to do that!! Everything has to be done In a specific way! How are they to know what I used to sterilize a Mask, where i did it? Who was there? Etc etc it's really NOT that simple. We can't do ANYTHING out of spec...ANYTHING as it jeopardises the process, the product and the patient.

I meant your company, they need to introduce a facility for it to be done at work.

Even so, why are you not using washable ones outside of work?

gagaoolaalaa · 28/01/2021 20:42

@AnnabelleMarx in pharmaceuticals

OP posts:
gagaoolaalaa · 28/01/2021 20:43

@Mrgrinch it's too risky...simple as unfortunately. Masks need to be medical grade and medical masks are not washable.

OP posts:
gagaoolaalaa · 28/01/2021 20:45

@Mrgrinch same goes for hairnets and beard covers. We use a lot of single use plastic in pharmaceuticals, it is ridiculous but unfortunately that's the way it is. We go through approximately 3-4 bottles of IPA a day too... all plastic bottles 😫

Hotzenplotz · 28/01/2021 20:47

@gagaoolaalaa

Of course I go out, I wear them all day for work. I have just never had to actually buy one as I get them free daily in work.
Grin and Biscuit

Lucky you, many congratulations.

What an odd thing to brag about.

That's awful, I'm not blaming you of course, but it really is atrocious. If we can develop a brand new vaccine in a matter of months, why can't we solve problems like this? So infuriating to see our planet being killed Sad

Aimee1987 · 28/01/2021 20:51

My mum gave me some back at the start of the summer that she made. Then my work gave us a pack for free so have like 8 ( reusable)

This is the most pointless post I've ever clicked on.

I've made all mine

Grin and why are there so many exclamation marks!!!? It doesn't make it more interesting!!
PurpleHoodie · 28/01/2021 20:55

For those who have made their own

Do you make them with the metal nose strip and/ or filter pockets, or just the material?

GabsAlot · 28/01/2021 20:56

thanks for telling me my mask is useless

We put our "disposable" masks through the washing machine to use over and over. They come out fine.

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 28/01/2021 21:08

From what I was reading in The Guardian it looks like double masking is going to be a thing. So we'll be expected/encouraged to wear two.

Lilyargin · 28/01/2021 21:08

I’ve never bought any either. I don’t see anything wrong in the post and can’t understand the reaction it’s provoked. The post isn’t odd or weird, the reactions are!

Gemma2019 · 28/01/2021 21:11

I've never bought a mask and never worn one either

So you do wear them you're just making the point of never having put your hand in your purse. I could say the same about red pens but why would I?
Mrsmadevans · 28/01/2021 21:22

I dont either OP . I don't pay for face masks/ plastic aprons/visors or gloves Grin

I have been doing this since Christmas
Vintagevixen · 28/01/2021 21:30

Me neither - I just pull my scarf up over my face. job done.

Catty1720 · 28/01/2021 21:32

I’m now confused I use fabric ones as I like to be able to wash them do they not work then op? My DP gets fabric ones from work but as they have the company name on them we can’t use them as everyday ones but they aren’t medical grade either 😕

lljkk · 28/01/2021 21:33

I have picked up from ground at least 10 cloth masks, brought home & washed them.

Always navy or black. Because Kids' favourite colours?
Anyway, with some given to me, I could have gone 'free', too.

Could still wear pretty cloth over surgical ones if surgical mandatory, no?
