AIBU to think it's weird to have a toilet in your bedroom?

My neighbours have put their house on the market recently so I had a nosey online and saw that they have a toilet in the bedroom Grin. A bath, sink and loo but no screening or bifold doors for privacy.
Even if there wasn't anyone in the room while you used it it's bloody odd isn't it?
I don't get it. Have seen it quite often on escape to the country/grand designs etc...
If you have one why? Confused

Mobility issues ?

GeidiPrimes · 28/01/2021 16:20

Or when a shower cubicle has just been plonked in the corner of the room. En suites make me uncomfortable too.

FamilyOfAliens · 28/01/2021 16:21

I think it’s weird to have a toilet in the bedroom even if it’s in its own enclosure. The idea of someone going to the toilet so close to where you sleep - yuk.

But I know en suites are considered the height of sophistication on here Grin

Vtech · 28/01/2021 16:21

Both weird and disgusting imo

MaMaD1990 · 28/01/2021 16:22

It's a new trendy thing to have a bathroom in your bedroom now (god knows why).

SnuggyBuggy · 28/01/2021 16:22

Given that I personally dislike en suites because I don't like the idea of shitting so close to where you sleep this would not appeal at all.

Indecisive12 · 28/01/2021 16:22

I’ve seen this in nightmares I’ve had. Also toilets off the main corridor of my mansion with no walls or door for privacy.

Wingedharpy · 28/01/2021 16:23

It's called a commode.

No both youngish and walk a lot and the room is upstairs.

I wouldn't be able to use it, even with no one else there. My arse would get stage fright! My worst nightmares usually involve some kind of loo in full public view.

😬

No it's really not, it's a normal bathroom one end of the bedroom but no wall or screen between Shock

I don't mind en suites (I'm glad we have one at the moment with being due soon and getting up so often at night 😂), but this sounds a bit odd!

Rainbows89 · 28/01/2021 16:28

My old neighbours had one of these. We always thought it weird.

maliciousgossip · 28/01/2021 16:28

gah, they used to have a pisspot in the old days. Grin

Crosstrainer · 28/01/2021 16:28

I rented a house once that had a shower and sink in the (large) bedroom. Odd. To have a loo in there too is bizarre - you’d take a corner and create an en-suite, surely? I know some upscale hotels have freestanding baths in the middle of the room, but I don’t like it abd certainly wouldn’t want to live with it!

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 28/01/2021 16:28

I don't understand! Literally just a bath sink and loo in the room? Is it a very large room? Is it carpeted?! How does everything stay dry? So many questions!

Labobo · 28/01/2021 16:28

Yuck. I hate en-suites too.

ChampagneCharlene · 28/01/2021 16:28

Never liked the idea of en suites either. Those holiday programs obsessed with them. Unless you are over 70 or disabled, incontinent or some other related medical issueeg post-menopause, can you not even walk to the bathroom? Otherwise we might as well revert to the potties under the bed. That said, normallly animals don’t shit where they sleep.

MasterBeth · 28/01/2021 16:29

I have an en suite. I don’t shit in it when my other half is in bed or about to be. It’s very handy for a wee in the middle of the night, and for showers and teeth brushing, though.

Other toilets are available.

Bluntness100 · 28/01/2021 16:30

En suites are open plan but id draw the line at open plan loo and bedroom....

I have a friend who put a shower in her bedroom, I could never understand why she didn’t wall it in. She got it to use if they had guests, to free up the other bathroom for the guests, but it was seldom to never used, it just looked so odd.

I also find baths in the bedroom quite odd though.

luxxlisbon · 28/01/2021 16:31

YABU to not show us the listing Grin

VetiverAndLavender · 28/01/2021 16:32

I like proper en suite, but a toilet just plonked down into a bedroom? I agree, it's the stuff of nightmares. A smaller space feels more secure and comfortable. All that space around you and the feeling of less privacy wouldn't be... conducive!

Yep all down one end of the bedroom. It is a big, carpeted room and it looks like the 'bathroom' bit has a different flooring but still think you'd soak the carpet getting out of the bath {grin}
