To ask what conspiracy theories you actually believe are true?

Following on from the thread where OP was looking for conspiracy theories for her kids to look at, I was wondering whether anyone actually believes any of the outlandish conspiracies.

We’ve all read about how people believe that Elvis didn’t die/Paul McCartney did die/the royals are all lizards/the earth is flat. But I’ve never encountered anyone who actually believes any of them, only people who talk about people who (apparently) believe in them.

So, what conspiracies do you actually believe and why?

Yes to Dr David Kelly.
Don't care enough to question Epstein death
I am convinced maybe 2/3 v senior people knew about 9/11 ahead of time.
I think generally sometimes things are allowed to happen to advance a political aim - not that things are instigated by Governments as such and then everyone keeps quiet but just let to happen.

The crisps thing was just a change in leading brand from Golden Wonder and Smiths to Walkers.
Genuinely thought there were 52 states 😱

I absolutely believe that there are aliens. I don’t believe that they’re little green men so to speak but I think that it’s not possible that out of the whole universe ours is the only one with intelligent life.

I think there absolutely is a celebrity paedophile ring both stateside and here, and that Epstein was the absolute tip of the iceberg. I also believe that idiots like that moron who claimed loads of historic sex abuse which turned out to be untrue basically did all these people a favour by making everyone look like a crackpot for believing it.

Reading some pps’ posts about the Myra hindley thing sent chills down my spine . I remember the story vaguely can someone remind me

I remember at uni I was on a lecture for American literature and the lecturer asked everyone how many states in USA. We all thought there are 52. He said it was a very common mistake, none of us could remember where we might have learned it from. Our school geography didn't cover Us states so I don't think it came from school.

There's no way Dr Kelly killed himself. Absolutely no way.

Epstein I'm not as sure about, I think he would have wanted to retain control and suicide would have been a way of doing that. There are a few weird details though.

I also believe aliens are in contact with us and sharing knowledge. Apparently that's how we got WiFi 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just googled the US states as I was sure there were 52 also - found this explanation:

The District of Columbia is a federal district, not a state. Many lists include DC and Puerto Rico, which makes for 52 "states and other jurisdictions". Maybe that's the root of the myth? Or do people think of a deck of cards, the weeks in a year, or the country code of Mexico? Does the number 50 appear to be too rounded to be accurate?

I also wondered if some confusion could be because there is both North & South Dakota and North & South Carolina?

and OMG that Meghan Markle video! Unless it’s been doctored she is clearly wearing a prosthetic bump! Agree though that she had a lot of water retention at the end so maybe she did have a fake bump just at the start to gain sympathy?

Interesting, but having grown up in the US I can confirm it's drilled into us quite young that the total is 50 -- the 48 contiguous, Alaska, and Hawaii.

I thought maybe my assumption that there were 52 states was because I knew two were added (Hawai and Alaska?) and in my mind added them onto the 50 rather than realising they were included in the 50. Is that a reasonable explanation?

Even that article is a bit strange though. A whole article about all the things that were going on with her, and then just one line at the end about how her husband died of pneumonia a few months later.

I guess it is just a very sad coincidence but it's still really strange.
