To ask what conspiracy theories you actually believe are true?

Following on from the thread where OP was looking for conspiracy theories for her kids to look at, I was wondering whether anyone actually believes any of the outlandish conspiracies.

We’ve all read about how people believe that Elvis didn’t die/Paul McCartney did die/the royals are all lizards/the earth is flat. But I’ve never encountered anyone who actually believes any of them, only people who talk about people who (apparently) believe in them.

So, what conspiracies do you actually believe and why?

I’ve just found the video of Meghan squatting down, heels together in the later stages of pregnancy (is this even possible?)

She stands up and her bump pops out with an audible ‘boo’ and she looks momentarily shocked but then composed herself.

I’d not heard this conspiracy before, I’m amazed and yes, I think her pregnancy was a fake.

LulaMay17 you need to do better than that if you're going to claim something is "fact."

First, none of the citations actually lead to anything - they lead to a deleted Wikipedia page. So it's just an unsourced, uncited list of random names on some random blog.

Second, climate change conspiracy theorists have a bad habit of latching onto the tiniest little thing and quoting it out of context to make it falsely appear that someone agrees with them. Some of the names on the list have stated on the record that they do believe in climate change, and are angry that their research is being abused and mis-quoted to imply support for an anti-science agenda.

Third, some of the "scientists" on the list do not work in a field that's even tangentially related to climate change. The list includes a economist, four politicians, and the chief executive of an energy company. Hardly people who are qualified or unbiased to give expert opinions on climate change.

Fourth have you actually read the list you linked to? The first section is "scientists who have argued global warming is primarily caused by natural causes" - so not scientists arguing that human-caused climate change isn't real, only that human action is one of the causes, not the primary causes.

The second section is "scientists who have questioned the accuracy of IPCC model" - not a word about climate change not being real, simply the accuracy of one specific model.

The third and fourth sections are scientists who have basically said "I don't know, needs more data" or "climate change is real but might not be that bad." Again, there's a big difference between "needs more data" and "climate change doesn't exist."

Trying researching further than the BBC.

I did a PhD, so I think I'm good, thanks. And I've never used the BBC for research for anything.

I think the whole Fatima visions thing is strange. Three children were meant to have seen visions. Two of them died in an epidemic only a year or two later. The third who was a bit older than the other two at the time became a nun known as Sister Lucy. She was forbidden to talk to anyone for years. According to the conspiracy theory it seems the original person was substituted for somebody else and they gave an interview. I think the original one going to blow the whistle on the whole thing and say they imagined it all so had to be stopped.

I know of one conspiracy theory that is actually real. But I can't talk about it😂 I actually have some facts that the public aren't aware of because of my association with someone who has access to the details. It's not as exciting as a celeb one or anything but the papers would blow up if the truth was known.

I’m sceptical that Jeanne Calment lived to be 122 years old. It seems odd that one person would be such a statistical outlier. There’s a conspiracy that Jeanne’s daughter Yvonne (who reportedly died in 1934), survived and assumed her mother’s identity. I’m not normally a conspiracy theorist, but that’s one I wouldn’t dismiss out of hand.

It is weird how both her and her husband, both fairly young people, literally just dropped dead within months of each other?

I do think the Pentagon thing is strange as well - how can there be no footage at all of the plane crashing, and although there is plenty of building wreckage to be seen and its a relatively small hole, there are no remnants of a plane at all? Don't know what the motive would be though - I guess the plane was shot down elsewhere and they didn't want to admit they had shot down a plane full of civilians? Same as flight 93?

I always thought Meghan Markle was pregnant, but wore a fake bump because she carried small and wanted a 'proper' bump to stop people talking about it. I mean she was going to be judged no matter what, I'm sure she wouldn't want people criticizing her bump of all things.

None of that is true. There is footage of the plane the AP has file footage and plenty of photos of fuselage mixed in with the building wreckage.

If you hadnt said that, you could have just dropped your theory in amongst all the others here with one explanation as to why you think/know it's real. We wouldn't know you have proof! Could have just got that off your chest with no risk of anyone actually believing you!
