To ask what conspiracy theories you actually believe are true?

Following on from the thread where OP was looking for conspiracy theories for her kids to look at, I was wondering whether anyone actually believes any of the outlandish conspiracies.

We’ve all read about how people believe that Elvis didn’t die/Paul McCartney did die/the royals are all lizards/the earth is flat. But I’ve never encountered anyone who actually believes any of them, only people who talk about people who (apparently) believe in them.

So, what conspiracies do you actually believe and why?

LulaMay17 nothing in your post actually defends or supports the list you've offered as alleged proof of this "fact." I notice you've ignored most of my points, eg the fact the climate change-denier blog lists the exec of an energy company and multiple politicians as "scientists who disagree with climate change."

If you have any proof then please post it. An uncited list of "scientists" who allegedly have made statements indicating scepticism of issues related to climate change models is by far from "proof climate change is fake FACT!!!!"

Wikipedia operates on a democratic model, and the process for deleting pages is clearly laid out. The issue of whether or not to delete that particular post was put to a public vote, and the majority voted that it should be deleted due to lack of proper citations and bias. It is simply not by any stretch of the imagination "censorship" for a peer-run website to hold a vote and decide they personally don't want to host a particular page; a page that as you've demonstrated is hosted on multiple other sites.

Who exactly is censoring you? We're debating right now, aren't we? No one is deleting or censoring your posts?

And surely you're "we're all being silenced!!" contradicts your "here's a bigass list of top scientists who have publicly stated that climate change isn't real."

Either dozens and dozens of scientists are on the record as saying climate change isn't real, or everyone is being silenced. Not both.

Learning the Fake Melania has been debunked is boring, boo! I am still a little sceptical. I believe they trundled out the lookalike because Melania refused to go and came up with the security reason later on, after they got busted. I don't remember any other presidents using lookalikes for security reasons.

As a New Yorker who saw the second plane hit I'm a little dismayed at how many MN'ers still buy into the conspiracy theories around the attacks.

The crisp one is easy, when I was a kid the predominant crisp brand was Golden Wonder. S&V was blue, C&O was green.
Golden Wonder seemed to sort of fade into the background and Walkers became the big crisp brand, and they do their flavours round the other way.

I might have given this too much thought but I think I've debunked the myth

That's not a conspiracy. We know they had the necessary information but the CIA and the FBI played silly buggers with each other and wouldn't share. That's fact now, not conspiracy.

The podcast is called the Switch. According to Walkers this never happened and of you Google it you won't find any evidence it did. I wasn't sure whether I remembered it or not until they described a TV ad featuring football players swapping shirts. I do remember that. If it happened where is the evidence? The podcast is fun as it is a bit of a tongue in cheek version of an investigative podcast. Gary Linekar says he remembers it. But where is the evidence?!

I don't really believe in any specific conspiracy.

I do believe we are fed watered-down information and that things are kept from the general public.

Looking at some of the idiots around me, I am not convinced this is a bad thing!

This sums up my thoughts exactly. It's not that I 100% believe that 9/11 was an inside job. I just don't believe we were told the full truth so people try and fill in the gaps and that is how conspiracies are born. We see it over and over Jimmy saville, Epstein, Hillsboro even covid.

We live in a world where everything in the media is about optics and truth is less important than how something can be spun which I think amplifies the gap between what people know is a lie and what they actually know to be true.

People remember (or have invented) all sorts of details about the Switch and exactly when it happened including a big marketing campaign. I don't know what to think!

I’ve just found the video of Meghan squatting down, heels together in the later stages of pregnancy (is this even possible?)

She stands up and her bump pops out with an audible ‘boo’ and she looks momentarily shocked but then composed herself.

I’d not heard this conspiracy before, I’m amazed and yes, I think her pregnancy was a fake.

She was showing up Charles rather dreadfully; she was still hugely popular and she wanted a political role as a sort of UN Goodwill Ambassador. And it was rumoured that she was pregnant with Dodi Fayed’s baby - just all terribly embarrassing for the stuffy Royals. Though not nearly as embarrassing as Prince Andrew....

Re: the Pentagon, the AP has file footage from the security camera showing the plane hitting. There are also dozens of photos which show the shattered fuselage. It was visible from my friend's flat in Pentagon City.

There certainly were security failures at the highest levels, but the bulk of the conspiracy theories are just unfounded and false.

There weren’t Walkers though - it was all Golden Winder in the 70’s and 80’s. Cheese and a onion were green

It was why you could shrink the packets in the oven as they were all plastic. Walkers came along with foil linings meaning you couldn’t. And they definitely switched the colour. You can hardly find anything but walkers niw which is a same as they are so greasy, Golden Wonder are thinner and lighter.
