To ask what conspiracy theories you actually believe are true?

Following on from the thread where OP was looking for conspiracy theories for her kids to look at, I was wondering whether anyone actually believes any of the outlandish conspiracies.

We’ve all read about how people believe that Elvis didn’t die/Paul McCartney did die/the royals are all lizards/the earth is flat. But I’ve never encountered anyone who actually believes any of them, only people who talk about people who (apparently) believe in them.

So, what conspiracies do you actually believe and why?

The conspiracy that came out about his house being used for that young boy to visit, and allegations against him - there was a documentary about it called "Leaving Neverland"

fungster · 28/01/2021 13:00

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll What did Joan Rivers assert? I know she made a (very unfunny) joke about the Obamas before she died - is that what you're referring to?

crowsfeet57 · 28/01/2021 13:00

The conspiracy theories I believe in are:
JFK
Marilyn Monroe
Princess Diana
Harvey Epstein

I also don't believe Michael Stone Killed Lin and Megan Russell.

dottiedodah · 28/01/2021 13:03

Nanny Ogg 33 pages and still going! Why is it a "horrible" thread? People are just stating what they do and dont believe in .Dont have to stay on if you dont want to!(plenty more threads to choose from!)

Lweji · 28/01/2021 13:03

Epstein is hardly a conspiracy theory. Wink
Like all the people in Russia who fall off windows, or lock themselves in car boots or suitcases.

If the Pentagon wasn't hit by a plane, what happened to Flight AA77?

None of them, because I'm not a fucking idiot.

HTH

KarensChoppyBob · 28/01/2021 13:03

I think you're mixing up Jeffrey Epstein with Harvey Weinstein, not much difference between them really except the latter is still alive (just about).

KarensChoppyBob · 28/01/2021 13:04

That was for crowsfeet57.

medebourne · 28/01/2021 13:05

the80sweregreat

Her name was not Lady Diana either.

Daftasabroom · 28/01/2021 13:05

Re WTC. Wikipedia has a pretty good summary. But essentially the steel that these buildings were made from goes soft at high temperatures. Local buckling and eccentric loading then initiates global failure. Look up elastic instability if you need more.

Lweji · 28/01/2021 13:06

@MarieIVanArkleStinks

Weapons of mass destruction.
You think the existence of nuclear weapons is a conspiracy theory? Wink Grin
Esse321 · 28/01/2021 13:06

Didn't Diana actually say she thought she would die in a car crash where her brakes would be tampered with?

Nandakanda · 28/01/2021 13:07

The Jacob Epstein/Ghislaine Maxwell saga absolutely stinks.

Why are the names that were in the black book of passengers on the "Lolita Express" not being made public? Same with visitors to Epstein's island. 99.9% sure he did not kill himself - too dangerous to live. Not confident that GM will live until her trial, and even if she gets there, none of the obvious questions will be asked.

I'm not sure what the actual conspiracy even is, but it stinks and is definitely very, very odd.

crowsfeet57 · 28/01/2021 13:09

Worst of all (in my opinion) is the conspiracy between Queen singer Adam Lambert's management and certain high profile fans that resulted in none of his older longstanding fans getting seats in the first 16 rows of his (cancelled due to covid) 2020 tour. This also happened on his 2019 One show appearance when, again, none of his longstanding fans got tickets, only new, younger fans.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 28/01/2021 13:10

@Lweji I think it's just the ones that were supposed to be in Iraq that justified going to war with them but which weren't actually evidenced, and which lead to David Kelly's- ahem - suicide.

That said i have seen stuff that claims nuclear weapons don't exist, which is news to my Test Veteran Dad.....

KarensChoppyBob · 28/01/2021 13:11

WhoTF is Jacob Epstein?

MistressoftheDarkSide · 28/01/2021 13:12

And the residents of Hiroshima and Nagasaki would also beg to differ.

LadyCatStark · 28/01/2021 13:12

9/11 and Princess Diana

Lweji · 28/01/2021 13:13

Most actual conspiracies have been found out eventually.

E.g. smoking doesn't cause cancer; there is no global warming (Exxon knew about this for a while and hid the evidence as well as funded opposite research); Iran-Contras; and yes, that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction by the time it was invaded in 2003.

medebourne · 28/01/2021 13:14

Diana Spencer was only called Lady Diana until the age of 19. After that she was called Princess Diana until she died at the age of 36. I think it's just the foreign press which carry on calling her Lady Diana, or 'Lady Dee'

the80sweregreat · 28/01/2021 13:14

@medebourne

the80sweregreat

Someone is out to get me! Diana, princess of wales then...
Lweji · 28/01/2021 13:14

@Esse321

Didn't Diana actually say she thought she would die in a car crash where her brakes would be tampered with?
Is that why she didn't wear her seat belt? Or maybe Dodi took it off in a homicide-suicide?
medebourne · 28/01/2021 13:15

Jacob Epstein and the famous sculpture conspiracy. So hush hush nobody has spoken about it until now.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 28/01/2021 13:16

@Lweji

This why I mainly reserve judgement on things that sound bonkers even if it is utterly unlikely, in the political sphere especially. Following the money usually sorts the wheat from the chaff.

PurpleRainDancer · 28/01/2021 13:16

I don’t want to cause any upset or tread on any toes here, as it was recent and is very sensitive, but there was one specific tragic incident surrounding the circumstances of Kate giving birth, the given reasons for which seemed far-fetched beyond any belief. If there had been any truth to the suggestion that a surrogate was used, it would have potentially made far, far more sense.

Can anyone shed any light on this?
