To ask what conspiracy theories you actually believe are true?

Following on from the thread where OP was looking for conspiracy theories for her kids to look at, I was wondering whether anyone actually believes any of the outlandish conspiracies.

We’ve all read about how people believe that Elvis didn’t die/Paul McCartney did die/the royals are all lizards/the earth is flat. But I’ve never encountered anyone who actually believes any of them, only people who talk about people who (apparently) believe in them.

So, what conspiracies do you actually believe and why?

Didn't Sophie Wessex admit Lady Louise was an IVF baby? I vaguely remember infertility groups coming out to praise her honesty on IVF, it was reported that the Queen paid for it too.

itsgettingweird · 28/01/2021 09:02

@Cattenberg

Anyone heard the weird one that Finland doesn't exist?

No. I went to Finland several years ago ... or so I thought. Where did easyJet really take me?

I've been to Lapland.

Or apparently so I thought ..... 🤔🤣

Cam77 · 28/01/2021 09:03

None of them, because conspiracies.are impossible to cover up for an extended period of time, the sheer number of people whose silence you'd have to ensure is ridiculous.

Naive. When you have a compliant MSM which knows what topics involving the global elite are out of bounds, it’s really not that hard. Whenever there’s a Big Event, with potential to affect the Western politician system power structures and the financial interests, the MSM are as one tone and on message as Chinese State TV.

Morning Smile

I like to keep half an eye on all this stuff and find it fascinating. If there had never been real conspiracies I don't think people would be half as quick to believe some more of the outlandish ones....

For example the US experimenting covertly with bio weapons and LSD on it's own unwitting citizens from time to time..... declassified documents prove this, but of course it was in the 60s and 70s and allegedly ethics have improved so it could never happen now .....

9/11 was fishy, but probably not for the reasons we think.

I do think some politicians and public figures are kept in check because the secret service has something on them though.

And the most real to me is the way the MOD has fought the dwindling numbers of Nuclear Test Veterans tooth and nail through the courts to prevent them getting compensation if they develop illness related to radiation exposure. This includes my Dad with rare splenic lymphoma. Sweeping swathes of previously available info from the National Archives on the subject smacks of cover up.

I'm also intrigued by the evolution of deep fakes etc... can we believe anything we're told lol?

The film Wag the Dog is interesting.....

We'll never know the truth I suppose.... but there's great film script fodder out there.....

Teddy1970 · 28/01/2021 09:04

Not that it matters, but people up thread are talking about it, and who cares if she did anyway.

Daftasabroom · 28/01/2021 09:04

@LulaMay17 you are correct in saying the sun is heading towards a solar minimum, however global temperatures are rising and the ice caps melting. This shows just how much damage we are doing to our planet. The climate models account for solar activity and still predict increasing climate change.

Arobase · 28/01/2021 09:05

There was intense rivalry between the USSR and the US around going to the Moon in the 60s. The USSR was keeping a very close eye on the moon and everything around it. If the moon landings had been faked, they would have known, and there is no way whatsoever that they would have kept quiet about it.

itsgettingweird · 28/01/2021 09:05

@Londonmummy66

The Portsmouth Marconi suicides in the late 80s. Very odd that so many people working on MOD projects committed suicide in quite a short space of time in rather strange circumstances.
I'm going to end up falling down a rabbit hole on this one.

I grew up in Portsmouth in the 80's!

@Fuckingcrustybread

I don't believe that Lee Harvey Oswald was a lone wolf who shot JFK. I don't think that it was coincidence that Jack Ruby managed to shoot Lee H O live on camera.
I agree. And that is when 'conspiracy theories' really took off, imo.

the Mandala effect is interesting for sure.

Whatdoyoudowhendemocracyfails · 28/01/2021 09:06

“In fact the first line of the Wikipedia entry says she died in hospital.”

Isn’t there sometimes a difference between where someone dies in reality and where they die “legally”? For example, if you die in the Houses of Parliament the convention is you will actually be recorded as dying in the ambulance outside

“ I am advised that the Palace of Westminster is considered to be a royal building and as such is under the jurisdiction of the Coroner of the Royal Household. Therefore, in order to avoid the special inquest from the Coroner of the Royal Household that would occur as a result of Member of Parliament passing away inside the Palace, it is said that the Member would have died in the ambulance on the way to hospital, or somewhere outside of the Palace, in order that the Coroner of Westminster would become involved.”

... Remember the British Government raided the offices of the Guardian, getting them to destroy laptops as they watched due to their WikiLeaks cables coverage. Wonder why the Guardian is only obsessed with Identity Politics these days and was even more antiCorbyn than the Times and Telegraph? Virtually never raises its voice bitunthe oppression of the Palestinians, is usually very hawkish re,interventionism, etc. Not the same paper anymore after that event.

Hammonds · 28/01/2021 09:07

@AlternativePerspective

It baffles me that people form and believe conspiracy theories about events such as Sandyhook.

I think it’s one thing believing that the moon landings may have been faked/that there’s something dodgy about area 52/that 9/11 was something more than we would believe. In those instances the outcomes aren’t likely to be different e.g. if the moon landings did or didn’t happen doesn’t matter really. If 9/11 had been an inside job rather than a terrorist attack the same people would have died.

But to claim that the murder of innocent children never actually happened and to claim that the parents were in fact actors is sick beyond all belief.

So why have you made a thread that’s going to draw examples of what people believe in. You invite people to share what they believe in then get sickened by the responses Confused
MistressoftheDarkSide · 28/01/2021 09:09

I'm also B Negative as was my Mum. Can of entertaining worms indeed. But I truly can't wear a wind up watch without it stopping which us allegedly to do with it. Not been abducted by aliens though.... although would I ever know Wink

itsgettingweird · 28/01/2021 09:09

@sweeneytoddsrazor

Don't know much about conspiracy theories but I do think Manchester and Bristol/Bath have a 'pusher'
What do you mean by this? As in what's a pusher?
NinaMimi · 28/01/2021 09:10

I think with Sandy Hook people just don’t want to believe they live in a world where that can happen. Though anyone with sense would understand that in a country with widespread gun use you’ll get the occasional nutcase who will kill innocent people.

But to them they get some comfort in wishing it away. The sick side effect is that it affects those families in such a deep way. Imagine your child dying and some people threatening you saying they never existed. It’s beyond cruelty. And I suppose the father who killed himself was just an actor too? Sick.

KarensChoppyBob · 28/01/2021 09:10

For the PP that mentioned Diana's autopsy (way up thread) proved she wasn't pregnant and a 'friend' said her bit: evidence can be tampered with and people bribed by the powers that be, they often are; nothing fictitious about that.

zen1 · 28/01/2021 09:10

I don’t believe Dr David Kelly killed himself.

dottiedodah · 28/01/2021 09:10

As far as Diana went ,so many worries about her .She was the first person to divorce in the Royal Family. And her interview with Martin Bashir showed the Royals in a poor light.She also recalled being followed by Govt forces (Although she may have just been paranoid of course) Pictures of her and Dodi Fayed were embarassing for the Royals as well .She was also rumoured to be pregnant by him ,although her great friend Rosa Monkton denied this,as they were very close .

People who don’t question the version of events offered by Western billionaire media publishers and Western Government are as idiotic as flat earthers.

Gosh absolutely. When massive SM sites start controlling what people can say/see and hear it’s over.

Tbh it makes me wonder if that’s what they were originally set up for.

@sidesplittinglol

"RichPetunia
How strange that people think Myra Hindley got out of jail. I said years ago that I thought I’d met her when I was on holiday. You know how you look at someone and think ... that’s such and such? Well that’s what happened to me, only I thought the person I’d seen was Myra Hindley.
Someone else said they thought they'd seen Myra Hindley. I wonder what areas you're both talking about. It would probably be her if it was the same area you both saw her in."

I'm side splitting lolling (geddit?) reading this. Unless those areas were one of the wings she was on, you didn't see Myra out and about. Fact.

itsgettingweird · 28/01/2021 09:18

Travelling I always thought Diana died on way to hospital? I'm sure that's what I heard at time? I've always been interested in the conspiracy theories surrounding this but always believed it was an accident.

itsgettingweird · 28/01/2021 09:23

@mummytolittledragons

Why is it any Madeline comment gets deleted ? Anything else is fair game though.
That's a conspiracy theory in itself!!!!

I find it interesting that some people find threads on conspiracy theories must be full of batshit people.

Do some people not realise that it's entirely possible to enjoy reading what theorists have said without necessarily buying into them?

It's a sign of intelligence to critically analyse information. Reading and commenting on what's said isn't the same of as being a conspiracy theorist.

I commented that the MM bump was interesting. Doesn't mean I don't believe she wasn't pregnant! I do. I had no bump at 5 months and you'd have never have known until I was 6 months pregnant I was pregnant. I do believe it's possible she wore something to make it more pronounced because she's in the public eye.

I have a very wealthy intelligent friend with multiple businesses and employs hundreds of staff. He is a flat Earther. I’m open to look at most conspiracies but that I struggle with. However pre covid times I’d always find myself sat with him when wine was flowing as it’s incredibly interesting Grin

He says because people can’t accept or consider alternative information because their brain can’t/won’t accept a disturbing truth that could alter their ‘reality’ ....

I mean honestly what would you do if it was actually true. All the government agencies came out and said ‘actually yes, Earth is flat. We live in a flat dome, aliens fly out of the centre and we are all here just to work for the supreme Gods. I think a lot of people would be throwing them selves of bridges!
