Inspired by the white bag thread, it just got me curious. I’m not a journo! Although, I suppose that’s what a journalist would say.. Grin

Have you / do you take drugs? What did you take and why did you?

I’ll be honest and go first, I occassinally use MDMA and I do use coke on nights. But I don’t have kids and I’d stop as soon as I was having them

To expand on my post just now...I took a lot of drugs in my youth both for fun and also because of serious untreated depression. I see weed and mushrooms as spiritual. I don't drink alcohol.

I don't regret anything I've ever taken except alcohol, I think it's the most damaging to mental health and your own actions.

RootyT00t · 27/01/2021 20:30

@Cokeycokecoke

NC.

I’m currently off my tits on coke.unfortunately I relapsed last year after 18 years clean.

Even more unfortunately I’ve found a dealer on line who posts it to me...

I’m late 40s.

What a scumbag. The dealer not you.

I LOVE DRUGS. Will take almost anything I can get my hands on, except heroin, Crystal meth etc and am surprisingly a functioning member of society whom is well respected. Always presentable at the school gate (when school was open), a professional business woman. No one would believe it, which just shows you never know what happens behind closed doors.

rubyjoo2 · 27/01/2021 23:50

yes i have done MDMA alot of times, ecstasy, cocaine, ketamine, weed, speed, acid.

I don't have an addictive personality though at all and only do that every so often once in a blue moon at a party!

rubyjoo2 · 27/01/2021 23:51

as a teen i experimented alot with drugs, and now im 25, have taken MDMA many many times, probably upwards of 100 times at different parties and occassions.

now, I don't really enjoy drugs and find them to be a thing of the past, and silently judge peers who still smoke weed all day and think drugs means you are 'finding your inner self in another dimension'

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 27/01/2021 23:53

Weed about three times in my life. Wasn’t fussed. I would never even try anything else because I’m too scared. The idea of having no control over the impacts or how I’m feeling or not being able to get away from whatever the feeling was is too scary to me.

ChestnutStuffing · 28/01/2021 00:12

No. Too many drug issues in my family, including supposedly non-addictive recreational drugs. It always seemed too big a risk. Mind you I don't know that I was seriously tempted either, I don't have much desire to get out of myself in that way.

FrankButchersDickieBow · 28/01/2021 00:16

Ecstasy, speed, coke when younger.

Once in an absolute blue moon, I may do some coke, but only when the stars align. Right people, right place, right time.

FaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaBlah · 28/01/2021 00:24

Never. I don’t drink either.

Littleroundsponge · 28/01/2021 00:33

I've honestly never taken anything and never would, I'm mid thirties. It just doesn't appeal to me one bit plus I'd be too scared of having some awful reaction. Nice glass of red is enough for me GrinWine

marbellamarc · 28/01/2021 00:34

I’m surprised by the amount of people who’ve not tried any/many drugs too.I’m from a nice area, suburbs, it was everywhere in the clubs, pubs, streets

Because I grew up in a rough part of London I have never touched drugs. Saw the reality, the associated gang crime plus if you did get caught your background will very much influence what happens to you.

I find it odd that's some people complain about gang crime, worry their kids will get mugged etc but have no issue in using.

blueleonburger · 28/01/2021 00:41

Yep. MDMA, cocaine, ketamine. Still do but only once every couple months. It’s great. Love feeling free and dancing until the early hours with no care in the world. Life is too short. Enjoy yourself.

blueleonburger · 28/01/2021 00:43

@Lily193

Alcoholism kills more people than all the drugs combined.

It's not just about mortality, it's about the broader socioeconomic impact related to drug use. Human trafficking/modern slavery related to county lines activity is one aspect but there's also the impact on society from theft, burglary, robbery, violence etc that causes misery to so many people.

The answer = drug legalisation
toytastic · 28/01/2021 00:44

I've never taken drugs in my life. I'm 43. Hth.

RootyT00t · 28/01/2021 00:44

Not the answer at all , @blueleonburger

Why not? And alcohol is safe? Hmm
RootyT00t · 28/01/2021 00:55

@blueleonburger

It's safer. You know what you're drinking, you have some warning , you can reverse the effects.

Taking a tablet is Russian roulette. Sure there are many posters on here who have never had a problem etc but that's luck.

Drug addiction is unspeakable. And you want to make drugs easier to access and encourage people to take up drugs?!

That’s my point.

Make drugs legal. Allow it so companies are able to safely source and manufacture these drugs so you do know where it’s coming from and can better safeguard against unethical practice. Make it legal so it removes the need for illegal activity and modern slave trade.

RootyT00t · 28/01/2021 01:01

@RootyT00t

And make it even more accessible to kids because it's legal? Dealing won't be an offence so people will not think twice of giving it to an addict? Drug addicts who need help will have more ways to justify it?

I'm not against the likes of medicinal cannabis etc.

But legalising heroin, cocaine etc would be utter madness.

FelicityMingington · 28/01/2021 01:08

Yes - I've tried most drugs over the years, but am particularly drawn to empathogens. MDMA, mephodrone and 2-CB would be my choice. As my partner and I get older they are now a rarer treat, just a handful of times a year, but I still find them amazing.

FelicityMingington · 28/01/2021 01:09

(Don't drink by the way Grin)

If that’s your argument, then you may as well ban alcohol. Need to stop those alcoholics getting easy access, don’t we? Hmm But then look what happened when they tried prohibition. Look how that worked out...

At the end of the day, if people want drugs they will find a way to get it. Making it illegal isn’t really a barrier to that. It just allows shady people to find means of exploiting people through trade. Make it legal, and set an age restriction like they do with alcohol and cigarettes. If the kids are your concern.

GeidiPrimes · 28/01/2021 01:13

I posted upthread about there only being around 500 registered addicts pre 1971 legislation. Today there are between 150 -200000. Drugs were much easier to obtain pre 1971, via an amenable doctor. The addiction explosion happened once drugs were criminalised. Criminal gangs wanted to maximise their sales by pushing it on the public, hence the term "pusher".

There are many mitigating factors there though for the increase.

Lots of weed in my teens and coke/mdma until about a year ago

Honestly do don't it a lot of fun but the comedowns (esp. with coke) are just not worth it. Staying up all night is grim and nothing worse when 9am comes around and you can't sleep!
Would set me off kilter mentally/physically for way too long
