I love https://www.ellisoconnor.com/printshop/ Ellis O'Connor]. She's a Scottish painter and I have three of her paintings, but only the prints unfortunately. I would love to have the originals.

No idea why that link didn't work.

My favourite art that I own is by the printmaker Katherine Jones- I got these two for my 40th birthday (apologies for the lighting!). I love them for the light. It's hard to choose what I would buy if money was no object, but I have a huge soft spot for Whistler's nocturnes and they would definitely be up there.

I am also a huge fan of Japanese prints and bought this one near Matsumoto 10 years ago.

This is another favourite piece of mine by Stef Ottevanger. It's lifesize and just so realisitic - made my hairdresser jump one day when she walked into the kitchen!

I like Miro and Georgia Okeefe. Have a couple prints on my walls, plus some other stuff. Bit of a mishmash but I like it that way. I also have that swimming pool Hockney print. I think I just love bright colours Smile

@ArtyBat

This one by Jo Witney.....I call it 'Just Passing!'
Oh my goodness I LOVE this!

This is a glorious thread OP, thank you.

I don't know that it's my favourite, I don't think I can choose that, but I certainly love Nighthawks by Edward Hopper. For some reason I love the feeling it evokes.

A reprint of the Mona lisa, reprints of Leonardo da vincis drawings, and a structure of triple helix dna

Scott Naismith. I used to walk past an art gallery on my way to work every morning and they had his large prints in the window. Once I changed jobs, I treated myself, and have managed to get 4 more Grin

This is my much loved aboriginal art from the Papunya Tula artist collective in the NT. My shite camera skills just can't capture the beautiful texture to the piece.

Also love Kevin the Kitten. Those expressions Grin

The Lady of Shalott by John William Waterhouse. I had a poster of this in my bedroom as a teenager, it's still my favourite ever.

I'm so enjoying this thread.

I've always loved Robert Heindel's ballet paintings, but this is one I have as the background on my work computer. It's called 'The End of Innocence' and was painted as part of the Phantom of the Opera series when the musical opened. There's something about it that really appeals to me.

This print that I got in Quebec. No idea who the artist is but I loved it from the moment I saw it.

Such a wonderful thread thank you OP! It’s funny what you’re drawn to sometimes isn’t it? I love Ophelia by Sir John Everett, it’s certainly melancholic but so beautiful at the same time.

@Phillipa12

This original Katie Mair painting. I had admired it for months in a local gallery and it was presented to me on mothers day 2014 by my dd, age 3. She sadly passed away 10 days later very suddenly. It takes pride of place in my living room, I will never forget the sheer excitement on her face when she gave it to me......she loved chickens!
I’m so v. sorry for your loss. There is nothing as painful as the loss of a child.

L.S.Lowry

Anything by Lowry. I’m a Northerner, but have lived in the US for decades. This helps when I’m homesick.

“And now he takes his brush and he waits, outside those pearly gates, to paint those matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs.”

I love all Atkinson Grimshaw but especially this woman heading down the valley. You can hear the silence.

Escher. Best known for his impossible staircases, but I like the fish to bird tesselations.
The last two images are prints I saw at an exhibition just before lockdown. I’d love to own one.

The artwork on our walls is mostly woodcuts, lithography and old maps. But my favourite is a pencil rendition of Méliès’ spaceship crashing into the moon’s face, made by DD last year.
