Just curious really. Seen a lot of hate for the governments handling of various things but they did recently win by a landslide and I’m not sure if people truly believe the opposition could do better.

So if it was just red or blue and there were a vote today, who would you vote for?

I’d vote Labour.

YABU - Conservative
YANBU - Labour

@SendHelp30

Regardless, the kids still go hungry.

Should they be punished for the (perceived) poor choices of the parents?
How Victorian.

unchienandalusia · 21/01/2021 13:59

Conservative. But I'd rather Rishi as PM.

Empressofthemundane · 21/01/2021 14:05

Children were going hungry under Labour too.

derxa · 21/01/2021 14:06

Ask me in 3 years time

Mittens030869 · 21/01/2021 14:08

Labour or Green. Probably Labour, as with our FPTP voting system Green would be a wasted vote and could easily keep this Brexiteer Tory Party in power.

FelicityPike · 21/01/2021 14:10

SNP

Stellaris22 · 21/01/2021 14:19

Yep, hard choices are the ones those less well off have to make.

Raising taxes is a hard choice too! How forgetful of those people, or should the hard choices only be for other people?

StormTreader · 21/01/2021 14:21

I really don't understand how so many people are voting based on which potential Prime Minister they like or don't like the look of.

We don't have a president like America, we vote in the party - I'm astonished that anyone can look at all the ways the Tories have failed (recently voted down an amendment that would stop them selling off the NHS to American insurance firms for example, being happy to starve kids until shamed out of it by a footballer) and still say they would vote for even more years of the same because they think Kier looks "greasy".
Not to mention the vague "Labour wouldn't have done any better" on no information, I'm literally not sure how they could have done worse! The Tories at this point could say they were killing the poorest 1% of kids to feed to the rest and people would praise them on their good economic sense.

And no, I'm not a dyed-in-the-wool Labour supporter, I've voted for each of the big 3 in my life, but I just don't understand how people can watch them hand Billions of our money to their mates for nothing so shamelessly and still say "seems fine to me".

StormBaby · 21/01/2021 14:23

How anyone can vote Tory and look at themselves in the mirror is beyond me. ANYTHING is better than them

Hoiking · 21/01/2021 14:27

I guess I don't consent to higher taxation to cover things that people really should be doing for themselves. Welfare should be a safety net, not a comfort blanket.

Perfect28 · 21/01/2021 14:36

@stormbaby

I totally agree. It's shameful really.

Perfect28 · 21/01/2021 14:40

@Hoiking

What are your views on those getting extremely rich from the back of the state? I'm talking about winning multi million £ contracts and not fulfilling them, but happily taking the money?

SymphonyofShadows · 21/01/2021 14:42

Labour, but my local MP is LD and has been amazing. She’s done so much more in the very short time she’s been doing it than the previous Tory expense thief did in years.

Second this question.

Andante57 · 21/01/2021 14:47

Everyone will say Labour! They always do! Then the results come in and..well.

This.

NewspaperTaxis · 21/01/2021 14:49

I do think Labour would do better to emulate the Democrats - though even they get 'tarred' by the Socialism word, which is.a no-no in the US, but also seems to be over here.

It should almost be the sort of thing Blair was about - but without a) That curious Orwellian cult-like thing going on b) Iraq c) Privatisation of the NHS and money-grabbing.
And oddly, when Blair won with a landslide, that's what people thought they were voting for, not the a) b) and c) they later got. So it's not like that was a duff formula.
It would also be easy to outstrip the current Govt in looking modern, flash and forward looking, because said current Govt look like the board of a Surrey golf club.

Hoiking · 21/01/2021 15:01

Well, that's fraud and should be dealt with. But whenever someone on here suggests reporting someone for benefits fraud, they are roundly told 'beak out' and that they should only ever look in someone else's bowl to make sure they have enough Hmm

As such, I keep my beak out, and instead turn my attention to keeping greedy fingers out of my own bowl.

NonCisWoman · 21/01/2021 15:07

To those voting Labour/ Lib Dem/ Green:

What do you think of their policies on women?

Perfect28 · 21/01/2021 15:12

@Hoiking

You realise benefit fraud is a teeny tiny proportion in comparison, and mostly done by desperate people?

On the other hand, the tories love to give contracts to their friends in high places.

Equally we know tax evasion (mostly commited by the super rich) VASTLY outweighs that lost to the treasury than benefit fraud, but I presume you don't have much of an opinion on that either.

Is it really so bizarre to you the concept that those with the broadest shoulders should carry more of the weight?

Jaxhog · 21/01/2021 15:14

I don't especially like Boris and do like Starmer. But the rest of the Labour Party? No way!!

Perfect28 · 21/01/2021 15:15

@nonciswoman

Why do you leave the tories out of that question?

lurchersrule · 21/01/2021 15:22

@ Hoiking You honestly think we should just 'keep our beaks out' when those in power enact corruption?? Fucking hell....

Stellaris22 · 21/01/2021 16:06

If you are against the idea of people taking money when they don't deserve it then I question your voting for a party that repeatedly hands out contracts to those who aren't qualified.

happymummy12345 · 21/01/2021 16:31

I won't be liked for this but I never bother with voting simply because I'm not interested at all. I think I'll have to live with what happens regardless if I want it or not so why bother.
But if I had to vote then it wouldn't even ever be a question or a choice for me. As someone who is working class and proud I'd only ever vote labour, the only party in my opinion who even cares about the working class people.

lunalulu · 21/01/2021 23:16

Tony Blair.
