Just curious really. Seen a lot of hate for the governments handling of various things but they did recently win by a landslide and I’m not sure if people truly believe the opposition could do better.

So if it was just red or blue and there were a vote today, who would you vote for?

I’d vote Labour.

YABU - Conservative
YANBU - Labour

France, Spain, Germany and Portugal are all in lockdown. And have implemented curfews. It’s not true to say we are the only country in the EU still in lockdown. (We are no longer in the EU anyway but that’s another point).

We are responding in much the same way as all other European countries.

Ziggydancer · 21/01/2021 01:45

Labour.... without a shadow of a doubt, and roll on the next election!

whereismormonjesus · 21/01/2021 01:48

@Oblomov20

What do they expect to achieve? A shoutout when the results are being announced? “Steve Smith, 54, from Slough scribbled on his ballot in protest. Now, let’s carry on.”

AmelieTaylor · 21/01/2021 01:51

Starker can't decide if he wants one sugar or two. You're deluded if you think labour could handle the pandemic any better IR get the economy back on its feet

Boris/conservatives HAVE made a complete dogs bollocks of Covid, but labour would have been even worse.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 21/01/2021 01:52

Sorry, my phone seems to think Starmer should be starker

God forbid 🤮

AutumnColours9 · 21/01/2021 01:55

Labour

eaglejulesk · 21/01/2021 04:29

Labour, but it wouldn't make a difference, a donkey with a blue rosette would get in round here.

I'm not in the UK, but where I live it was always said that a monkey could be put up as a blue candidate and they would win. Not this time - we had a change at our last elections, and I think the last Labour MP we had here (and the only previous one) was in the 1930s. So never give up!

eaglejulesk · 21/01/2021 04:30

I hate it when people say they'll spoil their ballot. It's such a waste.

I agree - what does it actually achieve, it's not as though anyone else even knows what you did, and if you think the politicians care you're dreaming.

I could have sworn the Tory record on policies regarding women was pitiful. I asked somebody else upthread what the problem was and no reply! Care to explain Smile

No, because you've tagged the wrong person

And this is why our country is poorly run.

Absolute idiots voting for a party not the candidate in their constituency.

custardbear · 21/01/2021 06:40

I'm a floating voter but labour at the moment for me

No they're expecting policy changes.

Due to the way our system works we have a lot of safe seats that don't change hands in these a protest vote for a party with no chance of winning but a headline policy can see that policy adopted by the big 2

If you had an election and a significant amount of thw people spoiled their ballots in one area you would see the parties spending a fair amount of effort to find out why.

cliffdiver · 21/01/2021 06:46

I live in a Conservative / Lib Dem area, so i tactically vote Lib Dem.

Previously, I would generally vote Labour.

Tumbleweed101 · 21/01/2021 06:58

Right now probably conservative- the main reason being we don’t want everything going under loads more upheaval.

Once the pandemic is over I’d be looking at who is leading which party.

Gobbycop · 21/01/2021 07:03

I'd spoil the ballot paper like I normally do.

They're all useless and not worthy of a vote.

newyearnewname123 · 21/01/2021 07:09

I hate it when people say they'll spoil their ballot. It's such a waste.

I will not vote conservative, because they do not care about poor people. My other choices are Labour or Lib Dem, who I will not vote for while they cannot answer the question "what is a woman?" truthfully.

So I will spoil my ballot, because it is my duty to vote, but I have no-one to vote for.

knittingaddict · 21/01/2021 07:13

For the first time ever - no one.

I couldn't vote Conservative again. Mainly down to how BJ handled (or didn't handled) the Dominic Cummings issue. I think they seem to be doing a good job with the vaccine roll out so far. I'll give them credit for that.

I loathe BJ and his amiable buffoon act though and I think that's the main issue for me. There was all this talk of him being intelligent underneath the act when he was looking to be leader. I thought that he did a good job of hiding his competence then and he looks even worse now.

I couldn't vote Labour yet because I'm still unsure of Starmer and it would be an unknown at the moment. Give me time.

knittingaddict · 21/01/2021 07:18

@YepCuntyIsTaken

Boris is a disgrace. Labour have made themselves unelectable. LD are a joke.

I'm politically homeless

Ah, should have just put this. Gets to the root of the issue for me.
ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 21/01/2021 07:45

Those who say Labour would have been worse - how? We already are one of the worst in the world death rate wise and have done very badly economically too. I don't see how it could be worse. Then on top of that they decide not to extend transition and now each day there are more and more reports of businesses warning they can't export to the EU and they are going to lose a big proportion of their sales, at a time when businesses are hanging on by a thread due to COVID restrictions. There are multiple sectors asking for handouts to compensate them for Brexit losses. Then there are more and more reports of the cronyism, I see Tory donor and tax exile Lord Ashcroft has just been given a £350m contract to do Covid testing without tender. Many more contracts like this have been given out without tender since the pandemic mostly to friends and donors of the Conservatives running into £Billions of our tax money with eye watering profits for them. They are corrupt.

PP who asked how I can say never-Tory when I haven't seen their policies or know who will be leader, I don't care about that, as I won't be voting with just our household in mind. As a household we pay lots of tax when you include corporation tax from DPs business, raising taxes will affect us but at least under Labour the money will go to funding public services rather than lining the pockets of friends and donors of the Conservative party.

TheRaccoon · 21/01/2021 08:21

Actually can’t believe anyone would still vote Tory after the past year Shock

Badonkdonk · 21/01/2021 08:25

Labour.

There isn’t a single member of the Tory cabinet who I believe is intelligent, competent or decent. They’re a complete embarrassment.

Empressofthemundane · 21/01/2021 08:29

You can put a bad spin on anything @Suzeyshoes, especially when you have a passionately held position. I actually voted remain, but if I try to be object, all the dire warnings and histrionic predictions just aren’t coming to pass.

AnnaFiveTowns · 21/01/2021 08:34

You can't assess the full impact of Brexit 3 weeks after transition ended. That really is taking the most simplistic view possible.

Clearly we can see negative impacts already, but it'll be some time before a full impact assessment can be undertaken. Hopefully there will be some positives reported in time.
