To tell you how much I love my period pants!

Been using them for a few months now and cant believe it took me this long! It's literally just you pull on your underwear and you're done. I don't even know why you'd bother faffing around with mooncups etc when this exists, let alone pads.

I will admit that if I have an event or something I would still use tampons just because I've been using those for so long I have confidence in them whereas I still need to get used to the underwear. But for day to day use I absolutely love these, they almost make me forget I have my period

Any other converts?

@Glitterbubbles

I absolutely love mine too. Use a mixture of period pants and menstrual cup. On heavier days I use my cup and some period pants in case of leaks. Overnight I prefer to use period pants so I don't have to worry how long my cup is in for. Don't think I'd ever go back to tampons!
This is what my teen dd does. She uses a menstrual cup with the light flow modibodis and at night she just uses the night time ones.

She finds her periods completely hassle free - so different to when I was a teenager.

That's really weird and also doesn't make sense as I just checked and they ship to the isle of man and Jersey so why not mainland UK? 🤔 Send them an email!

I dont wash mine on a special wash, but on the lowest heat setting in a standard wash (20C)
Took your advice, CutToChase, had a nice but disappointing e-mail back;

======================================================
Due to Brexit, we have decided to temporarily suspend all shippings to the UK. The new legislation increases shipping costs and also requires tax declarations to be made from now on to customs not only from us but from our service provider as well. Until a decision is taken to simplify these measures, the suspension will therefore be maintained.

We are really sorry but being a small company, we are unable to handle the resulting additional logistics required. We thank you in advance for your understanding ...

Indeed. Let's hope the shitstorm is so violent that workable changes are made, and quickly too. Thanks for the recommendation though, as soon as I can order, I will! :)

@queenofSI

I just don’t see HOW they deal with big clots (and I mean BIG). Clots are more solid than blood obviously, how do they get absorbed into the fabric? I imagine them just sitting there on top of the fabric
They don’t basically. Which is why I’d never wear them during the day. Because that would feel disgusting. I think a lot of the people arguing that they’re fine for wearing 8+ hours at work probably don’t have a very heavy flow because I’d be very paranoid about clots and smell (sorry to be gross!). It’s simply not practical to be changing underwear several times a day in the work toilet.

I do like them for overnight use though. They don’t leak at all.

changedmynamelol · 18/01/2021 22:17

I can't imagine sitting around in bloody knickers all day. I think the idea of period pants is horrible

I agree. Nothing would persuade me to try them
foxhat · 18/01/2021 22:22

Hi @Russellbrandshair

It does look like these are best for relatively light flow. People are saying things like they wear a pad on top for 4 hours then just the pad. If you can go 4 hours that's pretty light. Mine could be very heavy pre kids. If I flooded, and I often did, then a pad could be full almost as soon as put on. Lots of clots would sit on top and could not be absorbed. The iron smell of blood is really pungent when that happens. I guess mooncup combined with period pants might work for some people.

bumblingbovine49 · 18/01/2021 22:29
@IHateCoronavirus I’m not sure! Tampons have been uncomfortable for me since having kids, and honestly, the cramping has definitely been less since using the pants. I don’t know why that would be but it’s significant.
I no longer have periods but I clearly remember that in the last few years of my periofs, wearing tampons made the pain and cramping much much worse so I stopped using them. Mooncups had only just started being available bit I had the same problem with those. They didn't have these pants then. They would have been great as I was forced to wear pads again for about the last 6-7 years of my periods.

Mrsbadger77 · 18/01/2021 22:31

Has anyone mentioned how much better these are for the environment than pads or tampons?
They are expensive though so it's definitely an investment. However, that said they are amazing. Whoever it was who said they didn't like the idea of sitting around in bloody pants all day, it really isn't like that! They are super super absorbent you don't feel anything at all and completely forget you're on your period. I will definitely be getting theses for my DDs when they start their periods. And as OP said I find it weirdly satisfying rinsing them out!

mrscee · 18/01/2021 22:37

I use Wuka period pants they are the best thing ever and for the last 3 periods I have just used the period pants and no other sanitary products. Depending on the absorbency of the pants depends on how long you can wear without changing.

LizFlowers · 18/01/2021 22:40

You can buy eco friendly single use sanitary pads nowadays. If I was still having periods I would use those rather than period pants or a moon cup. I was used to pads towards the end anyway, tampons were only for swimming at that stage.

The idea of clots in my pants for ages is not attractive to me and I don't like the idea of keeping menstrual blood inside me for any length of time which is what would happen with a cup.

Got to be Brexit I guess?

I am recently converted after period came back nearly two years after my last baby. Couldn't go back to pads (urgh) or tampons so thought I'd try these or reusable pads. They are brilliant, a revelation.

Would urge any doubters just to give it a shot with a medium/ heavy pair overnight.

Yes I use NatraCare plastic free pads and tampons. They are a good eco-friendly brand. Unbleached sustainably sourced cotton, fair trade,
Deadringer · 19/01/2021 00:25

Anyone try femtis period pants? They are german and seem to be a bit cheaper than some of the other brands.

Selttan · 19/01/2021 06:47

I invested in some of these when I started wfh - I went with modibodi and they feel so much less bulky than pads.

I mostly have a moderate flow with an occasional day of heavy. On my heavy day perfectly fine to wear at home but I wouldn't use on an office day. For moderate I could get away with one pair all day designed for heavy flow.

I have lost a little weight since purchasing these and have found that now there's a little movement that I'm getting done small leakage on the sides. They need to be snug but not too tight.

When changing I rinse in the basin and then do a further wash in the shower and then run through the washing machine 2-3 days later - so will do two washes per period but I have enough to last the whole time as they take ages to dry.

I wash on warm with some vinegar added. I'm a bit anal so will wash them twice and no smell after.

ladypete · 19/01/2021 07:58

(Admittedly haven’t RTFT)

I don’t like the feeling the feeling of bleeding though a I much prefer a mooncup (and before that, tampon) catching/absorbing the flow before I got the sensation.

Doesn’t this just feel like you are leaking non stop? Then again - I guess it’s no different to wearing a pad.. which I despised.

I’ve answered my own question Grin

FlyNow · 19/01/2021 11:30

I can't imagine sitting around in bloody knickers all day.

This is what a pad is though....

BertieBotts · 19/01/2021 11:32

I find the idea of them so impractical and gross. Big fan of reusable pads and mooncup, but I neither want to change pants several times a day (do you wear skirts? I hardly ever do) nor sit in a pad of period waste all day.

I don't get the love? There are other products that are so much more practical.

BertieBotts · 19/01/2021 11:33

FlyNow, no it isn't. You can change a pad every couple of hours without having to remove all your lower clothing.

HoboSexualOnslow · 19/01/2021 11:49

@Nowmum43

Do you think you could exercise in them? I run and I do keep thinking about trying them.
I use mine solely for running as I was getting pad chafage. I love them!! No chafing, and felt very secure. I would get loads of pairs if I could afford them.
Gwenhwyfar · 19/01/2021 13:00

"Got to be Brexit I guess?"

Yes, there are lots of UK companies not shipping to the EU at the moment, sometimes even including to Northern Ireland and the same the other way around.

LizFlowers · 19/01/2021 13:52

@BertieBotts

FlyNow, no it isn't. You can change a pad every couple of hours without having to remove all your lower clothing.
Exactly. I think they are a fad and in time people will go back to pads and tampons, especially eco-friendly ones. They make life a lot easier.
TatianaBis · 19/01/2021 14:29

I use them with pads. They're good back up. I wouldn't use them without pads but if other people want to that's up to them. They're definitely here to stay.

Russellbrandshair · 19/01/2021 21:23

FlyNow, no it isn't. You can change a pad every couple of hours without having to remove all your lower clothing

Exactly. You don’t have to remove your trousers and to change it and then put the bloody pad in a bag to carry around all day lol
It’s not comparable at all

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/01/2021 00:04

I didn't like like them on their own either, it felt like sitting on wet squishy pants.
I tried them at-home so could change them whenever but didn't as I was curious to know how long they'd last.
I gave in after 6 hours they didn't leak at all but definitely not for me.
I have no idea how you change them in a toilet cubicle either without a total palaver.
Saying that I do like them for overnight back up.
I'll stick with my mooncup, reusable pads and just 3 pairs of the pants for back up.

5zeds · 20/01/2021 01:03

I can’t imagine anyone really thinks it’s hard work to change your pants??ShockConfused
