Been using them for a few months now and cant believe it took me this long! It's literally just you pull on your underwear and you're done. I don't even know why you'd bother faffing around with mooncups etc when this exists, let alone pads.

I will admit that if I have an event or something I would still use tampons just because I've been using those for so long I have confidence in them whereas I still need to get used to the underwear. But for day to day use I absolutely love these, they almost make me forget I have my period

Any other converts?

modi bodi are fab. I have tried a couple of other brands but they are my favourite by a long shot

Lage · 17/01/2021 22:00

@IHateCoronavirus

To those of you reporting better pain relief what do you think is relieving the normal level of pain?
I don’t know if someone’s already said this but I vaguely remember reading that tampons/pads are so super absorbent that they kind of sap all your natural juices from you and it’s this internal dehydration that causes/makes cramps worse. I noticed a marked difference when I switched to a mooncup
Tess3 · 17/01/2021 22:00

I've been looking at these too and im so glad to see this post, thank you OP. I've could never use tampons an couldn't imagine i could use a moon cup. Pads are hassle so I'm delighted these have been invented 😃

MeadowHay · 17/01/2021 22:03

I think a lot of people with heavy periods use period pants as back-up the first few days and then use alone for the lighter, remainder part of the period. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. That's what I do and did when I was office-based. From day 5 onwards a pair of light-moderate Modibodis will last me all day without issue.

MangoSeason · 17/01/2021 22:04

I love my modi bodis. I’ve only bought one packet of san pro in 4 years and only because I got caught out on a holiday and had not packed my undies.

Great for the environment, money-saving, stop night time leaks, can be exercised in and feel so much better than pads.

TatianaBis · 17/01/2021 22:06

I got into them but I still wear pads with them because the idea of bleeding onto pants you only change 2 or 3 times a day is ick.

They’re great back up though.

Deadringer · 17/01/2021 22:07

I am following this thread with interest. My youngest dd is 12 and hates blood, she has sensory issues so i am planning on trying period pants for her when the time comes. It must work out expensive buying them for teens though, as they are growing and their size changes?

Smiledwiththerisingsun · 17/01/2021 22:08

Yes totally with you op. they are completely life changing!

Lucieintheskye · 17/01/2021 22:08

I think the pain relief is because you're able to relax more? Lots of people find they're tensing or clenching because they don't trust their product. With the pants it feels less like a period, and you don't have the constant worry of potentially leaving a puddle. Also not being limited with movements like clenching your thighs together to avoid Niagara falls, or squatting, can help those who get leg/hip/lower back pain.

They don't smell unless they've been on for far too long (the same as if you wore a pad for 12 hours), but some people may have issues with body odour because the underwear fits quite snugly and while it doesn't always feel damp, moisture and warmth down there can cause a musty smell. But if you go to the loo every few hours to wipe up, it'll freshen it up. The material is breathable but it depends on how breathable the rest of your clothes are.

Modibodi are size inclusive up to 26, but if you buy the hook and eye fastening underwear you may be able to use a bra extender if it's slightly too small. (Not tested but I reckon it would help a bit)

You can buy different absorbance options so they can be used as a light back up for a tampon or for a moderately heavy flow. None feel as nappy-like as a pad but I probably wouldn't trust even the thickest pants on a very heavy day.

I'm less able and the pants are much easier for me to manage and change and I don't have the worry of rushing to change a tampon.

I fuckin love them Grin

Truthlikeness · 17/01/2021 22:08

I started using Modibodi during lockdown and love them. I was using a moon cup before, which I'll probably still do when out of the house all day on heavier days. I don't have a particularly heavy period and get through 6 pairs, with one wash in the middle - so effectively 10-12 wears.
As someone said, you forget you're having a period. It couldn't be easier.

VetiverAndLavender · 17/01/2021 22:08

I don't think they'd work well for me, except maybe as an extra layer of protection at night. (As it is, on the two or three heaviest nights, I sleep on a strategically placed doubled-up towel. I've trained myself to sleep without moving much/rolling onto my side, so as to avoid leaks. I sometimes wake feeling stiff and achy, but at least it saves the sheets and mattress pad!)

On this thread and others, I've seen women refer to doubling up on pads, and I've never completely understood how this works. Do you overlap them at the "ends" (in the middle of the gusset) for extended protection in the front and back? Or are they overlapping along the length/sides, somehow?

snidgetowl · 17/01/2021 22:08

I've been using the Modibodi period pants for about a year and wouldn't go back to anything else now. No matter how much I tried with the Mooncup I couldn't get it in the right position and it would leak. I started the period pants as back up with the Mooncup, but now just use them on their own. I have a light-moderate flow, and use one pair for the day and one overnight. In terms of washing them, I rinse them in cold water and then just stick them in the normal wash. I have them in all sorts of colours such as pink, blue and nude and they don't stain as the inside part is black.

Gwenhwyfar · 17/01/2021 22:09

"In terms of washing: you rinse/wring them out under a tap, and then chuck them in the machine (low heat)."

Just looked at the website for Rejeanne and it says they have to be machine washed in cold water with no fabric conditioner. That means a separate wash from everything else and would be too expensive for me to pay for a machine in the laundrette just for some knickers so that has really put me off :(

coldwaterfeed · 17/01/2021 22:10

I use the night time / heavy flow pants, but with a pad as well. No more laying a blanket on the bed, the pants prevent leaks.

I uhmed and aahed over the ModiBodi, Thinx, etc but there were so expensive. (£35 for a pair of ModiBodi’s!) I ended up getting the LoveLuna ones in Sainsbury’s Tu 25% off sale for £7.50, a bargain and well worth it. Wish I’d got more.

coldwaterfeed · 17/01/2021 22:12

@Gwenhwyfar I sometimes just wash them by hand, you really don’t need a machine.

Russellbrandshair · 17/01/2021 22:14

They’re ok for overnight use. But during the day? Gross. I have very very heavy periods and it really doesn’t feel fresh or pleasant sitting in your own blood all day in pants that get heavier and heavier like a nappy. They’re also very expensive and take ages to dry after washing.

EileenGC · 17/01/2021 22:15

I'd love to try them but I don't see how stripping in the tiny toilet at work three times at day would be possible. I also can't see how it would be when I'm on a 8/12/14h flight and they need changing. It's uncomfortable enough changing a pad on a plane, I'd hate trying to get half my clothes down and back up. Also If you're at work or on a trip, what do you do with the dirty ones? Do you then have to run an extra wash at the end of the day even if you have no laundry to go in with it? If you're away, do you wash them in the hotel's bathroom sink? Mind you, sounds like a great activity to keep you busy at 3am when you're up with jet lag trying to catch a decent TV channel in English to pass the time 😂

Perhaps I could try them for the first and last day of my period as that's when my period is super light. Do they cost a lot?

Russellbrandshair · 17/01/2021 22:16

@VetiverAndLavender

You sound like me- they do work brilliantly for overnight use. No leaks. I’d try them for overnight but I don’t like them for day use

BillStickersIsInnocent · 17/01/2021 22:16

I love them (modibodi) and have been using them since lockdown 1.

I have heavy periods with flooding and leaking through my clothes. Wearing period pants has stopped all leaking, even overnight. I have a few pairs and also some reusable pads, which are fine to use to but not as absorbent.

bobkate · 17/01/2021 22:16

Those of you who have ordered modibodis for your DDs, what is the sizing like? My poor DD has just had her second period, the first was just a few specks so I think she got a shock this time round. She is also waddling quite a lot! Quite thankful for lockdown so that she gets used to the whole thing before returning to school.
Thinking these would be a great investment...but worried, due to the expense, about getting the size/style wrong. I'm guessing you can't try them on at home and return if the wrong size?
She's quite picky about hems, seams and labels being itchy.

MusicWithRocksIn1t · 17/01/2021 22:17

I got my first set of period pants a few months ago and I love them.

I have very heavy periods since having my second baby.
If I wear them alone I get about 6 hours out of them on a heavy day but I have reusable pads too (so much softer and nicer then those horrible disposable ones) so I wear my period pants to prevent any leaks with a pad to catch most of the blood as its much easier to change them and then the pants last all day.

I had a moon cup before which was so much better then pads and tampons but I didn't like it at night and I much prefer the pants and pads as they don't feel wet at all.

Period pants for the win

teta · 17/01/2021 22:18

My daughter loves them too.
I bought her Bambody for night time usage as they’re much thicker and intimate portal ones in black n nude for daytime. These have stopped the night time leaks onto sheets thank god.

pompey38 · 17/01/2021 22:19

Can’t think of anything more yuck 🤮

Gwenhwyfar · 17/01/2021 22:22
@Gwenhwyfar I sometimes just wash them by hand, you really don’t need a machine.
That would be fine.
So you rinse in cold water and then hand wash in hot water with soap?

QueenPawPaws · 17/01/2021 22:24

@VetiverAndLavender have you tried honour your flow reusable pads? Their heavy and night ones are seriously large and absorbing, I mean the length of your forearm! I love them
