To tell you how much I love my period pants!

Been using them for a few months now and cant believe it took me this long! It's literally just you pull on your underwear and you're done. I don't even know why you'd bother faffing around with mooncups etc when this exists, let alone pads.

I will admit that if I have an event or something I would still use tampons just because I've been using those for so long I have confidence in them whereas I still need to get used to the underwear. But for day to day use I absolutely love these, they almost make me forget I have my period

Any other converts?

@PlanDeRaccordement

I just don’t think it would feel very comfortable. I like my downstairs to have plenty of ventilation. And I think that period pants, being waterproof, would just make that whole area feel very humid and not fresh.
They’re breathable waterproof, like gore tex
LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 17/01/2021 21:26

@CutToChase

I use Rejeanne since I'm in France, they're French made with lace made in France etc. And come in cute packaging :) www.rejeanne-underwear.com/en/

I think the big brand in the UK is Modi Bodi though (correct me if I'm wrong). There's also a big Australian brand but I forget the name.

Do your research though because there are a LOT of dropshipping companies out there, as I found out!

I was really impressed with that website, found a lovely pair... but they don't ship to the UK. Every other country in the world is on there, but not us. :(

Dommage.

canonlydoblue · 17/01/2021 21:26

Oh my goodness, yes! Period pants are my new obsession! I can't believe how long it's taken me to discover them. Modibodi are my go to although I've bought a few Wuka to test out as well and have had no problems. Since having my last baby I can't wear tampons and pads are really uncomfortable so these are the only thing I'm using.

Flyingwiththecanons · 17/01/2021 21:28

My flow is very heavy. As in using 2 pads at a time heavy and I use modibodi heavy overnight pants and I've not leaked yet

RoseFence · 17/01/2021 21:28

Do they work with clotty periods?

jollyunicorn83 · 17/01/2021 21:29

YANBU period pants are bloody brilliant! Pun intended Grin

Flyingwiththecanons · 17/01/2021 21:30

@QuestionableMouse modibodi goes up to size 26

PrivateParty · 17/01/2021 21:31

I have recently got some too. But so far I've just been using them at night (on top of regular pants with a nighttime pad) as extra protection against leaks. As I keep ruining the bedding.
Not been brave enough to go without the pad yet.
The ones I have are Floweret ones. The gusset does go right up the back to the waistband to whoever was asking about that.

Thehop · 17/01/2021 21:34

I love them too! I bought cheapo ones and they’re great! One pair for the day at work. Come hime, have a shower and one pair until the next morning. So so comfortable. I’m a big girl too so very pleasantly surprised!!

Thehop · 17/01/2021 21:35

@RoseFence yes. I have clots in day one and 2 and they’ve managed fine.

Amberheartkitty · 17/01/2021 21:37

I’m happy with my mooncup but might get these for teenage daughter after these comments.

They all look so expensive, what cheap ones are you getting?
TonMoulin · 17/01/2021 21:39

@CutToChase, or anyone else for that matter

Anyone used them with very very heavy flow, the type where you need a maternity pad and you still need to change the pad every hour?

FlyingByTheSeatof · 17/01/2021 21:40

I bought my DD some to try out and she loves them alongside using her pads and tampons for extra security before and during her period. Very good for at night as she usually leaks.

Laiste · 17/01/2021 21:41

I want to like this idea but I must be overthinking:

To do away with pads (which is the point isn't it?) I'd be a 'fresh pair every couple of hours on the first two days' woman because i've quite a heavy flow. So i'd need .... i dunno ... 7/8 pairs for the first day.

So at the end of the first day when you just want to plonk down and eat chocolate you've got to get 7 pairs of bloody/clotty pants rinsed and washed. Doable, but with the heating off overnight they'll still be all damp on the airer/radiator in the morning.

So the second day starts and i've no clean dry ones. Second set needed ...

I'd need to buy 14/16 of the buggers then! That's A LOT of money and a lot of pant washing ...

Sadly i think i'll not bother.

PinkSubscriber · 17/01/2021 21:42

I bought first pair of Modibod last month to trial.Really impressed. I used on day 3 and as another poster said I was shocked when I went to the loo as I’d forgotten I was having my period. They’re just so comfie.

They’re quite expensive but I’ll definitely be buying a few more pairs.

Iheartsheep · 17/01/2021 21:42

Iv been looking at these for dd. She hasn’t started yet but I think they would make life so much easier for her. They are quite expensive but I’d happily pay it if it made her feel more comfortable especially in school.

AreyouseriousClark · 17/01/2021 21:43

I love them! And will be introducing my daughters to them! Wish I'd been using them the whole time. Wuka are good but expensive (although it's a one off buy really) Sainsburys do good ones too, but I use them on my ligher days!

I have very heavy periods day 2-3, Wuka heavy flow see me through the night! No more leaks!

PinkSubscriber · 17/01/2021 21:44

Just to add - the rinsing out isn’t as gross as you’d imagine!

MeadowHay · 17/01/2021 21:45

I'm like PP with really awfully heavy periods, however I take tranexemic acid on the first few days if my period so that does make a big difference. Means for example a super+ tampon will last me 2hrs rather than 1. I really rate my Modibodis. I've been using them about a year and I have leaked less than a handful of times, all of them being overnight. I use a mixture of tampons or pads with the light/moderate as back-up for the first 4 days or so. From day 5 onwards I just wear light-moderate on their own. And I use 'overnight/heavy' in the night. They have changed my life as since I had DD 2.5yrs ago due to pelvic floor muscle injury I frequently get pain if I wear tampons a lot/for long so I had to lessen my reliance on them, and I don't like wearing pads really, I always feel uncomfortable probably because my flow is so heavy.

As an aside, I don't know about other brands but someone said about drying them on the radiator - Modibodis are not meant to be dried on a radiator. I asked the company this specifically and they said definitely don't dry directly on a radiator as that would ruin them. So yes in the winter it is tricky to dry them, it takes absolutely ages. I hang them near radiators but not directly on them. To wash I follow their instructions which is rinse the visible blood out in cold running water (until you don't see right red water basically) then put in delicates bags and wash at 20 degrees or less on a gentle cycle.

Laiste · 17/01/2021 21:47

@TonMoulin at fellow mattress wearer :)

After years of Tampax's various which hurt and make me ache; winged and un-winged pads which shift and itch and leak and roll up and god knows what else - these days i stick with good old 'maternity' mattresses. They're comfy (ish) properly long, catch everything, stay put, don't make me itch and don't stick to themselves round your gusset like superglue Hmm

AreyouseriousClark · 17/01/2021 21:48

I have very a heavy flow, fresh pair on for working day, fresh pair on after work, fresh pair for bed. So three pair of Wuka heavy flow! Lighter end of period days 2 Pair probably. They take ages to dry after washing, Wuka say no tumble drying or direct heat, but I do hang freshly washed ones to dry on radiators to speed up process. Expect this will be more of an issue in summer!
Laiste · 17/01/2021 21:52

Maybe i could get away with 3 pairs a day then. So 6 as a starter number. Better ...

Staffy1 · 17/01/2021 21:54

Are they more absorbant than pads, because those are pretty absorbant yet still get the wet feeling? Another problem I have with pads (and pants for that matter unless they are full briefs) are that they end up bunched up my rear end. Can't stand anything except tampons.

AcornAutumn · 17/01/2021 21:57

@CutToChase

Wonder what the science is re that pain factor. I cant comment as I never had pain but it's interesting.

And yes I'm not sure how this wouldnt be a faff for women who have to leave the house to work. Maybe they need to start thinking about some kind of smart accessory, such as maybe a soft case you could zip them into and would be 100% smell and wet proof, and that you could throw directly in the washing machine

I think most women who have to leave the home for anything would just say, no.

It's incomprehensible to me, before I went on the Pill, I was changing pads once every couple of hours.
