Worm please apologise for incorrectly quoting me. It was ineedaholiday now.

@GetOffYourHighHorse

No Gavin didn't correct. It was an example on how schools and councils should so their own quality control.
I think it's you who owes bookworming the apology.

Or I would , if I lived in a world where I demanded grown up adults apologise to me for disagreeing with me on an anonymous forum.

As you were.

Wheresmykimchi · 13/01/2021 22:05

Oh I see bookworming incorrectly quoted you following this post. It's hard to keep up with your posts.

@Bookworming you misquoted Get Off about the Chartwell quote. We must ban you indefinitely and you will only be allowed to return once you have profusely apologised.

Bookworming · 13/01/2021 22:05

I haven't misquoted you @GetOffYourHighHorse

*Exactly. Marcus & Co would have an actual point if the budget was 2 quid per dc per week and that was all that could be afforded but the fact is the budget was there and it had been mismanaged at the company's level, that is the actual problem! Sort it out schools and check your providers.

Why didn't the woman approach the school to complain in the first instance?*

Aka the company know they were short changing the children, but it's ok because it's been identified and now rectified. It was just mis management? Then they are not fit to do the job!

Do you think if the "woman" had gone to the school then Chartwells would've been exposed as taking food out of the mouths of babes? No it would've been brushed under the carpet, this was not an isolated incident and the woman spoke for 1000s. Good on her, she stopped a lot of children going hungry.

mel71 · 13/01/2021 22:06

Pleased they have done a u turn on this. Sad to see that attitudes have not changed within society in regards to families living in poverty. They are still regarded as feckless by too many. Many people would benefit from doing a course in sociology to gain an understanding of how inequality persists and power remains in the hands of a privileged few. I was a single parent and perfectly able to go and shop for a balanced diet for my son - if I had the funds. Tax credits actually lifted me out of poverty - investment in education enabled my son to go to university (yes, all during the last labour government), pay his student loan off and now in a higher tax band. We need to invest and believe in people - including letting parents go out with a voucher and choosing their own shopping. Oh and don't vote Tory.

Wheresmykimchi · 13/01/2021 22:06

The woman , incidentally , that has been called a liar across many threads along with the thread about who did Rashford think she was. People do speak up, it's just no one is listening.

For god sake don't laugh. I was already told off once before for using a smiley.

We won't be allowed back.

It's OK though I didn't apologise either so we will remain in the naughty corner indefinitely, reading books to learn what balance and context is and watching documentaries about the Tories.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/01/2021 22:08

'Oh I see bookworming incorrectly quoted you following this post. It's hard to keep up with your posts'

I know I'm fairly quick it's true.

Anyway, I hope this is resolved and if its vouchers fine, if it's food just someone check what they're giving out!

ineedaholidaynow · 13/01/2021 22:09

I'm a school governor, a school I was a governor for used Chartwells for their catering. Their service was not good so the school changed caterers with governor approval. With that experience we have not used Chartwells for FSM hampers, we were not told by the Government to use them. The school has made their own decision. The governors will monitor the quality of the hampers provided. If they don't come up to scratch we will challenge the service provided and if the provider can't improve their provision the school will go elsewhere.

Oh I'm glad you're OK with vouchers. That's alright then. We will sleep easy.

But if you think anything is 'resolved' when it comes to child poverty....well, that says it all.

Til the next thread we meet on again, old chum. Always a pleasure.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/01/2021 22:11

'The governors will monitor the quality of the hampers provided. If they don't come up to scratch we will challenge the service provided and if the provider can't improve their provision the school will go elsewhere'

So sensible ineedaholidaynow. Reassuring to know people are looking out for vulnerable dc.

Good job really, since the anti FSM voting government aren't.
Bookworming · 13/01/2021 22:14

What like a Chartwells employee? Doing something they're employed and paid to do.

Does it have to have an independent person checking as the people paid to do it can't be trusted?

Presumably not a Tory voter or MP! That would be a disaster!

BTW @GetOffYourHighHorse where did I misquote you?

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/01/2021 22:15

'But if you think anything is 'resolved' when it comes to child poverty...'

No no but that's what this thread is about. If you bring in broader discussion it is derailing I was told. Hang on, wasn't it you who said that?

ineedaholidaynow · 13/01/2021 22:15

@Bookworming you tagged @GetOffYourHighHorse, when quoting me.

Oh dear. I'll try and explain this in a way that makes sense because you know me, I'm not as bright as you.

FSM is a policy in relation to child poverty. A way to try (fail) and combat it, if you will. The two are connected. So talking about child poverty and children not being fed enough as are all part of the same category.

Covid deaths in Europe, you see , are a bit different. So that's derailing.

I do hope my answer is to your satisfaction otherwise I will be on three apologies.

Bookworming · 13/01/2021 22:17

Which quote @ineedaholidaynow ?

Which quote *@ineedaholidaynow* ?
The one where you apparently said about Chartwell and the government. You did misquote her , I tagged you earlier and invited you to the naughty corner with me.
Bookworming · 13/01/2021 22:23

Agreed @ineedaholidaynow then my comment relates to you!

However i still stand by, @GetOffYourHighHorse incoherent post was embarrassing! Don't you? I mean what does

No Gavin didn't correct. It was an example on how schools and councils should so their own quality control.

Is it special "speak" for daily fail readers?

I

cabbageking · 13/01/2021 22:26

Chartwells only cover certain areas.
If they haven't provided the service requested then schools should negotiate a reduction. Perhaps the school requested a cheaper option?
There is no evidence yet all schools that used Chartwell provided poor packages. Perhaps this may become clearer? But I can not believe that Schools did not challenge some of the packages?

Bookworming · 13/01/2021 22:27

@Wheresmykimchi on my way to the naughty corner with you, better than being in the Tory, daily fail, lack of empathy, it's ok if the company have tried to starve children, but now will sort it, because they've been publicly called out on it corner!

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/01/2021 22:30

Oh worm I dont do 'embarrassed' sorry. It's a chat firm I missed a comma after Gavin and 'so' should've been 'do'. Hope that clears things up for you. Sorry my spag gaffes have caused you such confusion.

'There is no evidence yet all schools that used Chartwell provided poor packages. Perhaps this may become clearer? '

Yes we need to see more examples from other parents really. Maybe it was a minority?

Takethereigns · 13/01/2021 22:33

@GetOffYourHighHorse

'We need more COVID wards. Where I am, the acute hospitals are on their knees'

Yes I watch the news, I've family and friends working in the nhs thanks.

'Tell me, are you opposed to the return to vouchers?'

Whats wrong with companies paid to supply the food actually supplying the food? A problem has been identified and it's been addressed. There would be a point if anyone was suggesting 2 potatoes and half a tomato etc was adequate.

The problem with companies being paid to supply food is that they come with additional overheads and do exist to make a profit.

I’m taking Chartwells statement at face value , that the cost for that box was indeed £10.50.

There’s about £5 worth of food. That’s £5.50 wasted on packaging, distribution and their profits.

I would much rather the full amount goes directly to the child’s family. If that full amount can get them more than just 5 childrens lunches then that’s a bonus.
