It really isn't all evil Johnson's fault

Whose is it then?

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/01/2021 20:38

'We need more COVID wards. Where I am, the acute hospitals are on their knees'

Yes I watch the news, I've family and friends working in the nhs thanks.

'Tell me, are you opposed to the return to vouchers?'

Whats wrong with companies paid to supply the food actually supplying the food? A problem has been identified and it's been addressed. There would be a point if anyone was suggesting 2 potatoes and half a tomato etc was adequate.

They are! Repeatedly! On this thread and in the media because 'its only five lunches'
Bookworming · 13/01/2021 20:45

@GetOffYourHighHorse is that you Mrs BoJo?

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/01/2021 20:47

'We get it, you like the government.'

It isn't about who I 'like'. I am pointing out this tragic situation is the same in other European countries per capita. Wales have a devolved administration, you do know that? It is Labour ran and the situation is just as bad. My point is people are sadly dying everywhere, that is tragically what happens in a pandemic.

I didn't say 'best death rate'. I wouldn’t be so crass and insensitive. That was a pp whom I quoted so please apologise.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/01/2021 20:50

'is that you Mrs BoJo?'

It's a shame people can't debate like a grown up when presented with facts. Lol away bookworm and kimshi! pandemics and deaths are such funny subjects Confused

Says you who implied a poster was lying about her job and was flippant , callous and distasteful while using a discussion on starving children to boast that we have the best death rates! You are one of the most hypocritical posters I've ever come across. Have you anything to actually add about FSM?
Bookworming · 13/01/2021 20:54

@GetOffYourHighHorse you know what get off high horse, it's clear you're a tory loving daily mail reader, you're there to be ridiculed and laughed at!

"I've got friends and family in the NHS" and you're still defending our feckless government, I'm not sure why any NHS worker would want to be part of your family or firmed circle. You may find after this is over, you're a much lonelier person.

I certainly won't be apologising to you, no. Is the Wales devolved administration responsible for FSM? Just trying to work out the relevance.
Bookworming · 13/01/2021 20:54

Or friend circle

Wheresmykimchi · 13/01/2021 20:55

Back on topic....

Have just watched a Matt Hancock interview where he was rambling about being glad the issue was rectified.

Piers pointed out that him and the Health Secretary (and many other Tories) voted against FSM when kids aren't in school in the first place. The government that is in no way to blame for child poverty. Funny that.

Seasaltyhair · 13/01/2021 21:02

@rottengreentomatoes

It’s the contempt behind these boxes that gets me. Cutting a red pepper in half , a spoonful tuna. Be grateful for what you get.
Tbf tbough some people on here make a roast chicken last four meals for a family of five.. but yes the contempt is shocking - intact this crisis has brought the worst out in people.

The boxes are a disgrace. It’s nothing but a scam - just like the track and trace. ( the people who got paid the eye watering amount for building T&T should hang their heads in shame) Yet again more people profiting of the back of a crisis.

Bookworming · 13/01/2021 21:02

Whats wrong with companies paid to supply the food actually supplying the food? A problem has been identified and it's been addressed. There would be a point if anyone was suggesting 2 potatoes and half a tomato etc was adequate.

So why did they do it, if they knew it wasn't adequate and how do we know it's been addressed, early days for such assumptions?

inquietant · 13/01/2021 21:03

I am pointing out this tragic situation is the same in other European countries per capita

No, it isn't really. UK really has been premier league when it comes to covid deaths, sadly

Sorry, I got my threads muddled, thought I was somewhere else Blush - this is about food not deaths Confused
Wheresmykimchi · 13/01/2021 21:05

No you're fine @inquietant. The thread was completely derailed by PPs who wanted to stick up for the government.

inquietant · 13/01/2021 21:09

@Wheresmykimchi well there's plenty who vote for them so there's always some willing to defend them!

I've spent all day today sending mixed up emails, texts and now this. Time to start drinking maybe, see if that helps Grin

Mimi85 · 13/01/2021 21:12

@CrotchBurn even if we debate if the tax payer should be responsible for children's lunches or not, which by the way I think we could get into a debate about any benefit any of us have access to or have ever had access to.... The point is we the taxpayer have been taken for a ride by a totally unscrupulous company.
If I paid £30 for 10 lunches for my child, I would expect a lot more quantity, a lot more quality and meals that actually made sense...

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/01/2021 21:14

'I certainly won't be apologising to you, no'

I didn't say 'best death rates'. You've said that twice now. Why do you make shit up, hmm?

'Everything about this government and COVID has been fail to plan, plan to fail'

My dreadful 'derailing' comments about the sad death rates and the positive news on the vaccine was in response to this ^ post. The Tories are failing on everything waaah and the 'starving the kids' theme on this thread.

Anywayyyy, back to the thread! As I said earlier schools/councils have the budget, they should use reputable providers and actually check the service is satisfactory.

VinylDetective · 13/01/2021 21:18

They won’t need to now. It’s back to vouchers on Monday - an admission of failure if ever I saw one.

Don't think anyone said they're awful at everything.

They are starving them. The Tories in bulk voted against FSM in holidays. It's only due to Marcus Rashford that the change came. They literally voted not to feed them!

Why isn't the company reputable? I'm sure you're not suggesting that they're corrupt as they were ran by a Tory funder. They wouldn't do that surely!

I can't believe you're blaming the schools and councils. Well actually I can....because the Tory supporters are leading masters in blaming anyone and everyone except well, the government.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/01/2021 21:20

'an admission of failure if ever I saw one.'

Yes it is. What a shame the providers were so crap and a parent had to complain.

Wheresmykimchi · 13/01/2021 21:21

@GetOffYourHighHorse I didn't say you said it. I said you talked about it. You did. The PP said it and you responded to it. That means talking about it.

But in all honesty anyone who thinks they are deserving of an apology after using a thread on child poverty to try and champion the Tories wouldn't be getting any apology from me.

Did you see my comment about Matt Hancocks interview? Couldn't answer a single question because even they aren't thick skinned enough to pretend to care about an issue they voted against in the first place!
