I think Trump is trying to use his public speeches to communicate with his followers in the absence of Twitter. The he says, for instance, "or Pelosi and Schumer to continue on this path, it's causing tremendous danger to this country, and it's causing tremendous anger, I want no violence, thank you very much" he's signalling to his followers that he wants them to feel angry, he wants them to be dangerous, and he certainly wants violence.

Did anyone else see Storming The Capitol on ITV this evening? It was further footage from Robert Moore - including some unseen footage from when he and his crew were on the scene, plus some footage from beforehand and from other locations they’ve filmed at over the last few months.

They are so angry. And I just can’t imagine ever getting used to seeing people openly carrying guns. I know that’s a simplistic observation from someone from the UK.

Am so hoping that the necessary votes come through for impeachment.

On a “lighter” note, I really would love the multiple Melanias truth to be fully revealed!

All these Repugs getting on the impeachment bandwagon really chap my ass. Where were they last January, the fucking cowards! They knew what he was then. Impeachment is a cert, we don't need no stinkin' Repugs for that.

But McConnell isn't anxious for a Senate trial requiring a roll call vote than he was earlier. He doesn't want himself or his cohorts to have to publicly vote to remove Scrotus, it would anger 'the Cult'. If it were a secret vote he'd be falling all over himself to get it done.

His concern is getting Scrotus out of the GOP, which would be done behind closed doors. Impeachment makes it easier, removal would make it a snap. But he and the Repugs are too cowardly to stand up for what they know is right.

Watching that press conference with the FBI/ Doh I felt such a sense of relief as they were so article and clear in what they were saying. It felt like, the adults are back in charge. Finally.

I'd put the chances of conviction in the Senate at around 40%. My gut reaction after the attack was that McConnell (having earlier that day lambasted those Republicans who wouldn't accept the vote) might have passed his threshold of tolerance for Trump (particularly post Georgia) and that he may consider it politically expedient. If McConnell votes to convict, I think they'll get 16 others.

I still think the above holds true, but I dont think I'll truly believe until I see it.

A lot might hinge on the run up to inauguration day and whether or not there is more pro-Trump violence.

TBH I'm still shocked at the sight of people openly carrying guns, and I live in a US state that allows open carry. It just doesn't happen as often as you'd imagine. Other than police, I've probably seen 3 or 4 people openly carrying guns (including hunters) in nearly 15 years of living here.

Today is a big day... I'm just not sure what the benefit is of not voting to impeach. Stand up and be counted. The more the better and the more the less likely you yourself will feel threatened. Grow a backbone Republicans...

I watched some of Storming of the Capitol, yes. When I was watching live it all seemed to happen so quickly but of course once they were inside, we weren't seeing much live, just the same clips repeated. Now it's all coming out it is just so so much worse.

It is baffling to me still, how the protesters stormed the building so easily and why there was such a low key presence, when so much info about what they were planning to do was out there. I'm not s conspiracy theorist at all, but something just doesn't add up. Or is it just cos they were white...?
