As he can't tweet, he is sending a message out to his cult followers.

You know what you have to do if they impeach me.

I wonder if that could backfire - it's basically given some Republicans a path to redemption.

Honestly, does anyone think Trump has achieved anything in remotely the same league as Churchill did? Saved any countries from invasion recently, for instance, or rather inspired them to save themselves?

The only real similarity I can think of is that after a term of office, each of them lost an election and ceased to lead his country.

Maybe Kamala Harris is better suited to give a balanced view of Churchill ? He (still) isn't as highly regarded in India as the UK. Something that the growing export of US-Indian comics (like Vir Das) have woven into their shows.

Have you heard about the vicar who wanted to move the piano from one side of the church to the other-he moved it an inch at a time over 5 years. Grin

Sorry: end of derailment.
Apologies if this has been posted already but this excerpt from Death to 2020 has Lisa Kudrow nailing McNinny
Thought this was a great programme, but missed Screenwipe's Barry Shitpeas and the real Philomena Cunk. Lisa Kudrow was terrific though.

being in possession of thick lips and curly hair .. One of NTNON's all time greats.

Ed Brown @edsbrown

Trump to reporters: "for pelosi and schumer to continue on this path, it's causing tremendous danger to this country, and it's causing tremendous anger, I want no violence, thank you very much"

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/01/2021 16:01

I am not really that interested in what other countries think of Churchill; his own country is entitled to remember that -- well, apart from anything else, I wouldn't exist if we hadn't won, because my parents would certainly have been murdered as so many of my relations were.

It's easy enough bashing Churchill; but he did rather more and rather better things than Trump ever has or could ever manage, and he didn't incite a mob to lynch any of his fellows in government, not even ones he disliked let alone ones whose only offence was failure to break the law to do him a favour.

DGRossetti · 12/01/2021 16:15

I am not really that interested in what other countries think of Churchill;

Which is to basically ignore the British Empire and the continuing effects it is having around the world to this day.

Interest and awareness are not the same thing.

PerkingFaintly · 12/01/2021 16:15

TBF, any country which was part of the British Empire during Churchill's long political life has a right to an opinion on him. Especially those under the sort of constitutional arrangements where a piece of paper could be signed in Whitehall to, say, ship the Indian army to France.

That is not a comment on Trump at all. As you see, I can't even bring myself to put them in the same sentence...

lionheart · 12/01/2021 16:17

Another rep who contracted covid after the lockdown.

Democratic Rep. Brad Schneider: "I am now in strict isolation, worried that I have risked my wife's health and angry at the selfishness and arrogance of the anti-maskers."

CNN reporting some pretty scary stuff regarding Trump supporters' plans for the inauguration

Deutsche Bank will no longer do business with Donald Trump, New York Times reports
According to the New York Times, Deutsche Bank, the president’s largest lender, will no longer do business with Donald Trump, his family and his personal businesses. Reports also revealed that Trump currently owes Deutsche Bank more than $300 million, which is due in the next few years.

The debt collectors are coming..

No. It is to suggest that I am not asking any other country to have celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of his death.

(Didn't know about him founding the British Empire: what a very long-lived bloke he must have been to be sure. Older than the USA.)

That was almost inevitable after his personal contact at DB resigned/retired just before Xmas. It was noted then that he wouldn't get anymore credit out of them.

If - as has long been suspected - Trumps entire business empire relies on plates spinning to fool some of the people some of the time, we may just hear some breaking crockery very soon.

In one of those footnotes to history, it's worth noting that another crooked businessman who span plates to confound his creditors, until his ill advised swimming trip, was one ..."Robert Maxwell".

Yes, that Robert Maxwell. Father to one Ghislaine Maxwell.

Soopermum1 · 12/01/2021 16:26

Just read Trump's latest speech. He's completely unrepentant

Whenever I see the words "Deutsche Bank", they translate in my head as "douche bag". Another bit of corporate virtue signalling and dodgy deals cover up. Why have they been propping up this multiple bankrupt all these years?
DGRossetti · 12/01/2021 16:49

Not to everyones taste, but does make some rather good points.

Worth it for the language lesson alone ... “… the worst our basements have to offer…”

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 12/01/2021 16:50

They won’t have been able to call the loans whilst he was President as they couldn’t enforce through the courts if needed.
Also can you imagine the outcry if a German Bank had attempted to bankrupt a sitting president.
Trump now - if you can bear to watch it.

He bears no responsibility and more or less says that there will be more violence if he is impeached. In other words 'if you hold me accountable, I'll incite more violence'. (words taken from a tweet)

twitter.com/atrupar/status/1349018177624289282
I don't want violence BUT people are angry.
He used the word angry several times

BruceAndNosh · 12/01/2021 17:01

The only similarity is they both presided over countries in burning ruins
