Just that really. I neither like nor dislike him I don't feel any emotion towards him.
AIBU to ask why so many people on here hate/dislike Boris Johnson?

The only reason the Tories still exist is because of how awful Labour are.

Not so. A constituency like Ashford, to take one example, has only once in the last 120 years returned a non Tory MP, and that was a Liberal in 1929. The jibe of the old Whig party was that if the Tories put up a pig, they would still vote for it.

Strangely enough, the voters in the constituency are not all that happy with the Brexit deal that Johnson has got for them.

I bet they'd still vote leave if they had the chance again though.

sashagabadon · 09/01/2021 14:01

I think if the vaccination roll out goes well Boris will be mostly forgiven for shaking hands with people in hospitals in March or whenever ( which I never thought was a particularly serious crime anyway, better than a leader that hides in a bunker insisting people quarantine for 2 weeks before meeting with him, like in Russia)
It’ll be interesting to watch. I think his generally optimistic outlook will be a positive for him this year. I hope Keir reads the runes on this too and ratches up the positivity come the Spring too.

Lalalabrador · 09/01/2021 14:01

He is a racist.

TomatoesAreFruit · 09/01/2021 14:01

Because charisma and having a jovial public persona does not bring a country through a pandemic.

He has brought the country to its knees with u-turns, mixed messages and unrealistic promises. Not to mention the Cummings saga.

We are now in the worst part of the whole pandemic and the public has stopped listening.

Why? Because on Monday schools were safe to open. On Tuesday they were not.

Boris has told us to stay at home, but this is not reflected in the government guidance - which is a fudge

My child can't go to school, but I can get my kitchen replaced, have a cleaner in, visit a garden centre, visit a National Trust garden whilst enjoying a take away coffee and a scone and on the way home stop at the local library to use their PCs.

If an over 70s diabetes support group decided that their group couldn't access support in any other way, 15 over 70s diabetics could sit in a local hall and meet for mutual aid and support.

I found out today, that police officers will be walking around my local park because of reports thst mums with pushchairs have been walking in twos blocking the footpath. But, children are happily and loudly mixing in the play area - which is still open under the rules.

I am sorry for the rant but Boris Johnson is incapable of making the tough decisions needed for a pandemic and people (many people) will have lost lives due to his hesitancy and desire to appease.

Wobblysausage · 09/01/2021 14:02

For me, I dislike him purely based on his hair.

Clavinova · 09/01/2021 14:02

So not attending COBRA meetings when Covid first hit

He was following pandemic planning procedure as far as I can see:

the Independent review into the response to the 2009 swine flu pandemic: ...

The committee, and the structures that support it (frequently referred to as COBRA in the media), are the UK government’s dedicated crisis management mechanism .... In the event of an influenza pandemic, the committee would therefore normally be chaired by the Secretary of State for Health.

The Exercise Cygnus report [Tier One Command Post Exercise Pandemic Influenza 2016] -
The exercise activity was based around four simulated COBR meetings - chaired by the Secretary of State for Health and the Minister for the Cabinet Office.

Piglet89 · 09/01/2021 14:03

@TomatoesAreFruit that’s not a rant: that’s a coherent summary of the situation. Well said.

Myshinynewname2021 · 09/01/2021 14:04

Ok so a man who cosies up to terrorists then outright lies when he is caught out has morals? Who aligns himself with not only just terrorists but terrorists who target the family and friends of a large number of his constituents is a decent person? Who then also in addition to publicly showing his allegiance to those terrorists is publicly seen supporting racism in the form of other racists and racist art. Because he's caring. And kind.

Not forgetting that this politician isn't acting on his own - oh no he has many like minded cronies in his party, many of whom have been given senior roles they don't deserve and are not qualified for.

And this party has cynically engineered an immigration policy designed specifically to bring in large numbers of people who will vote for that party. People who will cost the public purse dearly in terms of the nhs, the benefits system and the justice system all of which will now be overwhelmed and spending money faster than it can be replaced. People who will bring their family here and who will sometimes have multiple families in different houses with many children and one SAHM but no dad apart from the state.

Surely such a man, with his racism snd encouragement of racism and his cronyism and cynical exploitation of the worlds dispossessed (bringing in the worlds poor so he can have voters, promising them a warm welcome snd riches forever) would be vilified on mumsnet? Surely such a persons supporters who form a sizeable proportion of this political party would be shunned?

You would think so wouldn't you?

PolkadotGiraffe · 09/01/2021 14:06

Thanks OP. I haven't read the thread but news today is so bleak and your title made me laugh out loud.

Myshinynewname2021 · 09/01/2021 14:06

@Lalalabrador

He is a racist.
Unlike that other lovely chap, who supported some exceptionally unpleasant 'art' and social media posts. Yes I see what you mean.
DGRossetti · 09/01/2021 14:08

@Kendodd

Without Labour there would be no reason to vote Tory at all.

I see this an awful lot. Nobody ever seems to hold Tories or their voters to account, it's always somebody else's fault.

There are a non zero number of people that insist it's Corbyns fault we have to deal with Boris.

**ing numpties.

Kendodd · 09/01/2021 14:10

@Myshinynewname2021
Can you really not see the irony in your post? You call somebody out for their racism and then write this yourself. -

He us supposed to have wondrous linguistic abilities isnt he? Turns out he has memorized a few phrases.

Same as my market town.

In fact unfortunately so many people just don't bother to vote because they "know" the Tories will get in again.

And we have one of Boris' puppet monkies who gets away with ignoring any constitute she doesn't fancy responding to.

Kendodd · 09/01/2021 14:14

@Myshinynewname2021

You really don't like immigrants do you? Do you think you just might be a little bit racist yourself?

TomatoesAreFruit · 09/01/2021 14:14

Thanks @Piglet89 I feel much better now it has been said.

This thread is about Boris, if someone wanted to start a thread about Corbyn it would be my pleasure to talk at great length about how much I dislike him too. But I don't think we can blame Corbyn for Johnson's decisions during the pandemic.

Kendodd · 09/01/2021 14:30

Actually, @Myshinynewname2021 that's got to be a spoof post? Call somebody a racist then go off on a racist rant yourself. Grin

DGRossetti · 09/01/2021 14:33

@randomer

To be fair, his French and Italian are pretty good. And he seems to have a better grasp of German than me (not that would be hard...)
Chanjer · 09/01/2021 14:37

If not, you have no right to complain about how bad our politicians are?

This is nonsense

User158340 · 09/01/2021 14:41

Never got why people like him. He's a coward, a fraud and a compulsive liar.

Are people that suckered in by a bit of patter? They should be ashamed of themselves.

Casschops · 09/01/2021 14:44

Need you ask?

DGRossetti · 09/01/2021 14:44

Are people that suckered in by a bit of patter? They should be ashamed of themselves.

Never underestimate how easily an Englishperson is impressed by a posh accent and appearance of breeding.

bridgetjones1 · 09/01/2021 14:45

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

I don't hate him. I think he's way out of his depth though. He might have been a good 'peacetime' PM. But not for the current situation.
Totally agree! Although I would add that he is one of the worst kind of self serving politicians
