Just want an empty house so I can use the loo

Am I the only person who wants an empty house when I need to do a number two?

It's like I get stage fright if there are others in the house.

Obviously lockdown is not helping as I am never home alone.

I will wait sometimes until I'm having a shower and use the loo then but sometimes I can't really hold it without getting very sore.

Tell me I'm not the only one please.

I'd just like an empty house to myself full stop.

Cauterize · 08/01/2021 17:04

If I'm about to poo in the en-suite and DH is in the bedroom I'll ask him to go into another room. But needing a vacant house is quite extreme!

MrsHugsxx · 08/01/2021 17:06

I'm not bothered about pooing with husband and kids in the house. I can understand why you might be more embarrassed if you live with housemates or extended family though and there's not much privacy.

Jessuk86 · 08/01/2021 17:09

I don’t have this problem my toilet trips are usually observed by a 2 year boy known as my son think a lot of people have this kind of observer 🤣

sneakysnoopysniper · 08/01/2021 17:20

Even the queen has to go for a poop. Bear that in mind.

GabsAlot · 08/01/2021 17:22

im a bit like this but i dont hold it in just run the tap or play music makes it obvious i suppose but i dont care

luckily dont have kids

notalwaysalondoner · 08/01/2021 17:23

God no. I've never understood why people are like this. I was at Glastonbury with a guy who held it in the entire 5 days. To be fair, it's partly because I never had the capacity to do so... I try and wait until no one is in the cubicles if it's a public bathroom, but since I developed IBS that's often not an option either, I often have about 5 minutes warning before I will poop myself. Thank God my current workplace has individual bathrooms rather than cubicles.

I've never minded doing it at home - although I've often wondered why en suites are so popular, hearing your partner pee or poop isn't great IMO.

Plussizejumpsuit · 08/01/2021 17:25

I have ibs and poo loads so no I'm not like this. I just couldn't be!

yankeedoodledandee · 08/01/2021 17:29

An empty house? I would never shit again Grin

fdgdfgdfgdfg · 08/01/2021 17:31

This really isn't healthy I'm afraid OP.

I have a massive issue with stage fright when I'm peeing. It got to extent that I couldn't go at all when I was a student as bathroom was next to the kitchen and people were in there. Would walk the 15 minutes into uni to go in the public bathroom. Its better now (mostly because mobile phones are a thing, can read stuff and distract myself)

Is it your husband and kids that you live with. Have you tried actually telling them "Bugger off downstairs, I'm going for a poo"?

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 08/01/2021 17:35

If you’re worried about other people being able to hear, just put some toilet roll in the toilet first, it’ll mean it doesn’t splosh 👍🏻

BestZebbie · 08/01/2021 17:35

Could you break the cycle by going into the bathroom multiple times a day and reading your phone while you sit on the closed lid of the loo for five minutes? No one will know which time you are doing a poo. You can then gradually reduce the visits.

PhatPhanny · 08/01/2021 17:37

I used to be like this.
Mainly after being with a guy that would take the mickey every time I went number 2.
Oh that's gross, omg do you really smell like that.
But now after having children and losing a little 'give a shit'
Toilets are for peeing and pooping.
That's their whole purpose.

And my 8yo son is on long term stool softener to let his colon rest and 'repair' after holding his poop in and ending up constipated.

Please try to stop this, you will make yourself ill

@TheQueef why on earth do you think it's anything to do with her GP??? Shock

user1471538283 · 08/01/2021 17:38

You are going to make yourself sick. It is a natural bodily function and as much as you do not want people to know you go they will know because we all do!

LindaEllen · 08/01/2021 17:40

Because worrying so much about things that don't need to be worried about could be a sign of anxiety.

I've just been given medication for anxiety and I too hate people know I'm on the toilet, certainly wouldn't want anyone hearing me.

It's too early in my recovery to know if anything will help that particular aspect (I have more pressing symptoms to be honest) but it might be a nice bonus.

Pumpertrumper · 08/01/2021 17:44

My 10 month old generally comes with me when I poo. He sits smiling at me with his bottom teeth out and we clap when I’m done.

I got fed up of having to stress poo whilst he screamed in his jumparoo because he couldn’t see me.

I’m married to a doctor who frequently asks me about my piles (I’m pregnant again) like he’s asking me about the weather Grin

I’ve just given up, mum life.

ScribblingPixie · 08/01/2021 17:50

A friend of mine had this & had her bathroom rigged up so music she was playing in the living room also played in the bathroom. Game changer!

Crinkle77 · 08/01/2021 17:50

That's weird. I don't care where my family are concerned. I don't like going to the loo in someone else's house in case I make a smell but when you've gotta go you've gotta go.

CheetasOnFajitas · 08/01/2021 17:53

Why do you think the others know what you are doing? Eat more fibre, lots of vegetables, and you’ll be able to do a poo so quickly it won’t be obvious what you are doing. Others up thread have suggested solutions for noise or smell.

CheetasOnFajitas · 08/01/2021 17:54

I hate how men turn having a shit into some sort of endurance exercise. I am in and out in seconds.

Yohoheaveho · 08/01/2021 17:54

This is why I live alone!

This isn't the case for everybody. OP do you have any issues that make it more difficult to go, generally? Or are you 100% comfortable and happy as long as you're alone?
lynsey91 · 08/01/2021 18:07

I hate having to use public toilets and won't unless I really really have to. I do sometimes suffer from IBS so I don't always get a choice.

I also don't like having to use the toilet in other people's homes very much.

In my own home though I don't have a problem. I do think it's a bit odd if you are that uncomfortable with a partner. What about if you are in a hotel as the bathroom is only a thin wall away
