Just want an empty house so I can use the loo

Am I the only person who wants an empty house when I need to do a number two?

It's like I get stage fright if there are others in the house.

Obviously lockdown is not helping as I am never home alone.

I will wait sometimes until I'm having a shower and use the loo then but sometimes I can't really hold it without getting very sore.

Tell me I'm not the only one please.

Everyone poos. No one cares. You will make yourself ill.

blowinahoolie · 08/01/2021 16:06

We are a doors open kind of family 😂 you need to relax OP.

SunshineCake · 08/01/2021 16:07

Before you go call all the kids and ask if they want you for anything. Deal with them and then go or if they say no tell them good, then you want five minutes alone. Then go to the bathroom.

iMatter · 08/01/2021 16:08

What is it that worries you?

Are you farty? Run a tap/turn on the radio

Worried about plopping? Put 3 or 4 sheets of loo roll in the loo first

Smell? Light a candle before you start

Good luck Smile

littlepattilou · 08/01/2021 16:11

Yeah, I wouldn't say it's just you @needemptyhouse as I have known a few people (over the years,) who won't do a poo when their DH/DP is in the house. Some people have been with them for 10-15 years or more. I don't know how anyone can keep this up long-term/indefinitely.

However, even though I don't think it's just you, I do think it's odd, and as has been said, quite debilitating, and not very good for your health. If you need a poo, it's very unhealthy, and could potentially cause you long-term damage to constantly hold your poo in.

Moreover, as a previous poster said, I don't understand how anyone can 'hold it in' as most of the time, when I need a poo, I have to go within 5-10 minutes. On the occasions I do hold it in, it goes 'back up' and doesn't come back down til the next day, and basically (TMI sorry) I end up with a bit of a 'backlog.' In addition, I have an achey, narky tummy! All day, and sometimes well into the next day too!

As a few posters have said, maybe put music on or run a tap or put a fan on.

Hope you can get past this, because it's really not healthy, at all...

GarlicSoup · 08/01/2021 16:12

Sore?

ancientgran · 08/01/2021 16:13

Yes, freezing cold, no sink - great! But it's private so I'm sure the OP would love it.

PronkWine · 08/01/2021 16:15

I usually ask that the children leave the room and talk to me through the door. That's the best I can hope for.

movingonup20 · 08/01/2021 16:15

Kind of know what you mean but we have more toilets than permanent residents and a 3 floor house so I take myself upstairs for privacy. In our old house when we were first together I found it harder

Singlenotsingle · 08/01/2021 16:15

I share a 2 bed, 1 bathroom flat with my dp. The code is to put the door almost shut if you want to use the loo. Anything else, leave it open. He announces when he wants to go. I just nip in and go quickly. No real hassle.

Eckhart · 08/01/2021 16:16

Does anybody in the household know? If you can admit it, it might eventually help to overcome it.

CharlotteRose90 · 08/01/2021 16:18

@sheslittlebutfierce

Get yourself an IBD that'll put an end to it! Wish I had any choice in the matter. I literally have to go with a seconds notice !
This 100% haha . I have ibd as I have colitis and before I used to get it now if I have to go I have to go. It’s a human function who cares who hears
ghostyslovesheets · 08/01/2021 16:18

I am amazed sometimes at how adults behave - can't poo unless alone, can't sleep alone, can't shop alone, can't fucking find their arse with both hands ...

Sorry OP but I do get exacerbated on here by silly supposed adults!

randomer · 08/01/2021 16:25

@SunshineCake,exactly.Even the Royals poo but I dont suppose they gave a small, badly organised flat.

It's a bit more like a phobia. I'm amazed that people are so lacking in empathy, but people are always amazing in their differences, aren't they. Do you spend much of your time talking down at people or was this a one off? How did it make you feel?
user19385567 · 08/01/2021 16:37

Well, I don't have that issue, but I do have a shy bladder. This means I'm unable to use urinals (I'm a guy) in public toilets.

Nunoftheother · 08/01/2021 16:40

How about having a radio outside the door and putting that on as you go in?

Is that not tantamount to putting up a banner saying, "Hey everyone, I'm going for a crap now!"?!

Why not fully shut the door when you are using the loo?

I agree, except:

a) Pooing is a bit different from your other examples as it's a biological function;
b) You get exacerbated??

EveningOverRooftops · 08/01/2021 16:48

Not really. I find really letting rip clears the entire floor and guarantees absolute peace when pooping.

What I really would love is to have the house empty to get off properly. And I mean properly properly then pass out proper. I’m suffering damnit GrinBlush

Nonamealoud · 08/01/2021 16:51

I am like this can not go if anyone is in the house it stresses me out so much, it has caused me so much pain, and I have no idea how to stop now

2021isgoingtobeasshitas2020 · 08/01/2021 16:53

I'm Not bothered. I have had Ibs so close family know, I might have to rush and use their loo.

Thankfully, I have worked out now what affects me and given those things up.
op you shouldn't have to feel like that in your own home. If you gotta go, you gotta go. Thanks

Butchyrestingface · 08/01/2021 16:53

When I get poo anxiety (which is almost never) I run the tap.

I do this. And if I have to use public restrooms and there are other people there, I flush the toilet first. I do that for any erm, action, in public toilets though.

Allsloppy · 08/01/2021 16:57

I am with you OP I can not poo if people are in the house and if they leave I need to make sure they are away for a few hours. I have no idea why I am like this or when it started. When everyone was at work and at Uni in the good old days I could poo for England.

DrinkReprehensibly · 08/01/2021 17:00

Thing is, other people DO know what you are doing when you enter a toilet. If you weren't doing a poo or wee it would be more weird not less! Better out than in so try to own it. The more embarrassed you act, the more self-perpetuating the issue will become. Tell your family you're not going to be available for a few minutes because you're going for a poo. Or if they say, "what were you doing in the bathroom" say "having a poo, what do you think I was doing?". If they hear a fart or a plopping sound and laugh, just say, "all great sounds of my fantastically successful pooing session... It was very satisfying. Why were you listening?"

It's a bit puerile, but anyone polite won't ask and will pretend they didn't hear and anyone who does ask, tell them honestly... What do they expect you to do in your toilet in your house? The less embarrassed you are, the less interesting it will get and everything will flow freely. Good luck!
