I've vetoed this baby name, AIBU?

I love my DH, but he's said he wants to call our baby Marrack if we have a boy (apparently Gfather name). I've vetoed it, won't he be bullied!? AIBU?

Unless you are talking about a joke name, I don't think it pays to worry about being bullied over a name. Kids will find something to bully another child about if they want to.

In any case, there are a lot of unique names around now, I don't think Marrack would stand out.

You both have to like the name.

He won't be bullied because his classmates will be called Mason, Cooper and Tyler etc

But you both have to agree on the name. Don't worry the man usually concedes to the women's choice after the Labour

I know of a woman called Merrick. I like it. Marrack is ok, I probably wouldn't give the name to my son, if I had one, but its not the worst name I've heard either.

I think it sounds like a fine name, but if you don't like the sound of it or prefer more popular names, that's entirely your right. I think both partners are allowed to veto any name for whatever reason.

But I would offer it as a middle name. Two of mine, in fact the two who are always desperate to blend in, have weird middle names and they don't care a bit.

I quite like it. I don’t see why he’d be bullied. That said, if you don’t like it then you should veto. DS’s father wanted to call him ‘Ross’, I wanted to call him Gabriel, we each vetoed each other, and chose a name we both liked.

Martin is a lovely name. It's my teddy's name. Children pick on one another about anything and everything. I doubt any of them will ever have heard that name, so will pick on him for something else.

Something Marrack Surname would be ok. Or even Something Something Marrack if you're determined.

ds2s dad has a name that if yelled at a family party causes a actual wind while over 50% adult males turn heads.i never even considered it.his old old old uncle never broke breath to him again.supposedly in disapproval.me and we one met him every thurs on way toddlers for a wee chat right up til died...

In my line of work i would veto it too!! It sounds like the acronym MARAC which is multi-agency risk assessment conference. That's very niche though to those who work in the justice system. But no. There are nicer names!

I'm another one who thought of MARAC. Not something I'd want connected to my child.

MARAC is where serious cases of DV are referred (multi agency risk assessment conference, they make sure all agencies are joined up so nothing slips through the cracks) so that's all the name reminds me of!

I work with a Marek - he is from the Czech republic, are your husbands family from that area? As far as I know he was never bullied. You get all sorts of names nowadays
