Settle a baby name argument

My fiancé wants to call our “hypothetical” son Roland.

I think it’s a horribly old fashioned name that will cause him to be bullied.

He thinks it’s ridiculously cool and is gutted that I hate it.

Who is being unreasonable?

Roly Poly - not a good name if you’re a little overweight.
Otherwise I don’t really think it’s that bad. Prefer it to Raymond!

Row-LAND?! It's not pronounced like that so it'll just drive him crazy.

The other problem is that the nickname will be 'Roly' which is ok unless the child is a bit overweight, then it's tough.

Raymond isnt too bad. Roland is beyond awful. I hope he wouldn't want to name another daughter Rolanda.

I don't like it much as I also tend to think of Roland from Grange Hill BUT I think you are forgetting that none of his peers will remember that OR Roland Rat. He won't get teased for those reasons!!! (It will just because its a rubbish name!)

I think of Roland from Sabrina the teenage witch who was really mean. It's a no from me.

It’s an 80s name. Makes me think of Roland Rat, Roland synthesisers, Roland Orzabal, Ro(w)land Rivron,.... all 1980s !

But maybe he secretly hopes you have boy twins and so can use both names!!
