to cringe at people who talk about "Boris"

Why do people continue to talk about him as if he was their mate?
Has he really succeeded in fooling so many?
It makes me cringe everytime people say it.

Lets see what Boris says
I'd like to meet up but it depends on Boris

on and on it goes.
The man is an embarassment.

That's your view of his name though. He still chooses to call himself boris, for anyone else to say but that's not your name, is just rude.

He only chooses to call his public persona Boris. To friends and family he's "Al".

Christmasfairy2020 · 05/01/2021 22:50

Sorry but i like boris and i voted for him and would do so again!

Norwayreally · 05/01/2021 22:51

We call him Alex, is that any better?

Bluesmartiesandpandapop · 05/01/2021 23:02

I have a feeling Boris is going to end up a slang word in years to come.

Boris.
Definition:
A waffling bumbling twunt who speaks in 3 word phrases, has an indeterminable number of offspring and is known for philandering and making U-turns at the Nth hour, or some combination of those components when combined with a fluffy white mop of hair.
Example:
"Stop Borising around the bush and give me a straight answer."
"Don't pull a Boris this Christmas."
"You can't do a Boris-turn here, look at the road sign."
"I'd keep an eye on him, he's a bit of a Boris with who knows how many kids."
Etc.

We are not welcome on this thread.
Bluesmartiesandpandapop · 05/01/2021 23:05

@Tavannach

I can imagine a drunk slobby Boris using that as a sleazy chat up line.
"Most people call me Boris, but you can call me Al." With a wink, a hair toss, and a belly wobble...

QueenZoopla · 05/01/2021 23:08

Christ yes makes me cringe too. As if you know him. Makes me want to say He's not your mate - far bloody from it. I call him Johnson if I have to refer to him politely. Call him a lot of other less polite names as well.

Tiletiletile1 · 05/01/2021 23:11

I can’t stand this “Boris” thing like he’s some harmless clownish person, when he’s not. He’s dangerously reckless and a terrible leader.

LastTrainEast · 05/01/2021 23:11

I liked Boris until I came on here and discovered that he had invented Covid, Brexit, Lockdowns, Communism and flared trousers.

I think it's also his fault that PI is such a silly number when it would have been 3 under a Labour government.

StrawberrySquash · 05/01/2021 23:12

I get the logic of we shouldn't fall for the chumminess and have deliberately called him Johnson on occasion, but really Boris works as it's a relatively uncommon name. I didn't refer to Cameron as David because at one point there were five Davids attending cabinet.

StrawberrySquash · 05/01/2021 23:13

Also it's a good name to say in a tone of contempt. The B is satisfyingly explosive.

Bluesmartiesandpandapop · 05/01/2021 23:15

I find the alliteration helpful

Bodge it Boris
Boris buggered it up again
Bloody Boris
Boris the ...

Etc.

EnvyEnvyEnvy definitely not envy

AndcalloffChristmas · 05/01/2021 23:20

It’s just a shorthand. I don’t think it’s such a big deal. People know who you mean!

FluffyMcWuffy · 05/01/2021 23:24

Poor ol' Doris Grin

Still his choice though. Again he won't be the first that is known as one name in a professional capacity and another name to family and friends. Many use nicknames etc for example with family and friends but would use a more formal name at work.

If someone introduces themselves as x then that's what you call them.

MajesticWhine · 05/01/2021 23:39

I haven't RTFT. I find it annoying. It feels a bit deferential. My mum says, oh let's see if Boris lets us do this or that. Wait and see what Boris says etc. Cringe.

AnyOldPrion · 06/01/2021 00:09

Boris makes him sound like an amiable buffoon. That’s an image he has worked hard to create. Underneath that façade is a liar and a cheat. Also incompetent and, I suspect, lazy.

I call him Johnson now, just as we commonly talk about Thatcher or Blair. It takes work because the whole Boris schtick has been very carefully crafted and bedded in, but it’s worth it, I think.

theThreeofWeevils · 06/01/2021 00:25

Johnson. Or BS (for Bloody Stupid) Johnson. Feel he would do less harm landscape gardening on the whole.

Or 'that hoofwanking bunglecunt'.

PigletJohn · 06/01/2021 00:47

If you use the word "Buffoon" everybody will know exactly who you mean.

brushandmop · 06/01/2021 03:12

In NZ we all call PM Jacinda Ardern 'Jacinda'. It's just the most normal thing for us all to call her (regardless of if you support her or not) Similarly our opposition leader is called 'Judith' as an unspoken rule.

Both are uncommon names like Boris so it works.

The leader of the opposition tried to call her Ms Ardern and it backfired quite a bit.

Former PMs were referred to mostly by their full names. John Key or 'Key' and Bill English or 'English'.

I don't really see that calling him Boris equates to supporting him.

BasiliskStare · 06/01/2021 03:39

Yes "Boris" works because it is unusual - seriously do we have to call him Al

lovelemoncurd · 06/01/2021 03:56

They used to say Boris and it mean that oaf or bafoon but now the name is associated with dangerous incompetent killer.

Anyone want to select Boris for their baby name now?

BasiliskStare · 06/01/2021 04:09

Look I am not a fan of Boris in these times - but really - to call him a killer - where are the armchair generals & their sensible propositions.

randomer · 06/01/2021 08:07

Could the people who feel they like him and voted for him please say why........anything really?
