to cringe at people who talk about "Boris"

Why do people continue to talk about him as if he was their mate?
Has he really succeeded in fooling so many?
It makes me cringe everytime people say it.

Lets see what Boris says
I'd like to meet up but it depends on Boris

on and on it goes.
The man is an embarassment.

@Pinkywoo

I think it's more derogatory than matey, like it's too embarrassingly depressing to call him the Prime Minister so people say Boris. It's a lack of respect not affection.
Yes, this!
Love51 · 05/01/2021 19:43

My daughter was amused by a toddler saying King Boris had cancelled a wedding. We suspect the parents had said 'cking Boris.

Delamalama · 05/01/2021 19:47

I just call him the Baffoon. Strangely no one has ever asked who I'm talking about when I say the baffoon is giving a speech later.

randomer · 05/01/2021 19:51

@ShowOfHands,I don't

Of course they know who you mean. Boris has always been a buffoon.

sadcatdiary · 05/01/2021 20:00

I call him Boris because that's his name, it doesn't mean I think he's less of a cunt.

Blacktothepink · 05/01/2021 20:13

He’s actual name is Alexander

JustNotFunAnymore · 05/01/2021 20:15

He gets Bozza or Bozo here

HeadIsFucked · 05/01/2021 20:18

@ChwistmasTwee

I agree with you, it's so annoying. People never used to refer to DC as just David, or TB as Tony.
Yeah, seems quite rare for it to be first names. DC I called Cameron and TB Blair. Would have felt weird, and not too sure why, using first names only with them

That said though, thinking about it..fairly sure I have used 'Boris a few times

aquashiv · 05/01/2021 21:00

Boris the old bollix in this house.

ScotsinOz · 05/01/2021 21:25

In Australia, the Prime Minister is commonly referred to ScoMo (his name is Scott Morrison). This has lead to my husband and I to call Boris, BoJo. Given the current states of affairs in the UK, I think this clownish name suits him.

nopenotplaying · 05/01/2021 21:32

We're even more familiar in our house, we tune in to 'what Bozza has to say' Grin

Nacreous · 05/01/2021 21:41

I can use TB or DC as initials quite reasonably. BJ looks a bit dodgy... Johnson isn't very specific (and I think is a slang word for condom). BoJo is my name of choice at home but doesn't work for work emails. So he ends up as Boris or the PM.

sadcatdiary · 05/01/2021 21:42

@Blacktothepink

He’s actual name is Alexander
When I can be arsed I refer to him as Alexander de Pfeffel.

That's on the rare occasion I'm not politely calling him a fucking cunt.

tigger1001 · 05/01/2021 21:58

@Blacktothepink

He’s actual name is Alexander
This is just rude. Yes, he chooses to go by one of his middle names, and no, you don't get to correct people by saying his actual name is.... his name is what he chooses to go by, not what you think it should be. If he wants to be boris, then he is boris.

He certainly isn't the first person to use a middle name, as the name they want to be known by. Know a few myself who chose to do this. And guessing you might too, even if you don't know it!

Even posts on here regularly tell people to at least choose a "sensible" name as a middle name so the child can opt to be known as that once they get older.

AliceMadHatter · 05/01/2021 22:15

I've just been watching Bradley on The Chase and I might watch Holly in the morning.

AliceMadHatter · 05/01/2021 22:19

Well I won't watch Holly as I'm at work but does it matter if you hate or like Boris, you can call him whatever you want.

Piglet89 · 05/01/2021 22:23

Cheers me up if you replace “Boris” with “that lazy, incompetent fuckwit”.

Try it.

lioncitygirl · 05/01/2021 22:26

Wtf?! 😳 what would you like us to call him instead? Charles or something? Boris is his name you know...

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 05/01/2021 22:27

@tigger1001 Even posts on here regularly tell people to at least choose a "sensible" name as a middle name so the child can opt to be known as that once they get older.

But Johnson opts to not use his sensible name but rather uses his ridiculous name to fit his pantomime persona

That's your view of his name though. He still chooses to call himself boris, for anyone else to say but that's not your name, is just rude.

maudspellbody · 05/01/2021 22:35

DD's school sent a formal email out to parents advising them of the school closure arrangements and the Head wrote 'as Boris said in his announcement last night...'

Boris?!

In that context it was really jarring.

Bluesmartiesandpandapop · 05/01/2021 22:37

I don't remember anyone talking about Theresa, David, Gordon or Tony. I do sometimes struggle to take Boris seriously in any way. It's like having Mr Blobby for a prime minister, only inside the suit is a Grotesque Golem like figure twisted up with hatred and resentment, hiding beneath this facade of funny ness.

I hate him more than I have hated anyone in quite a while and am really trying to stop hating him because I don't believe in hating people for my own sake. But his stupid smug bumbling blonde face on the news yesterday has triggered my rage again.

Fuck the government and fuck Boris!

Dougt · 05/01/2021 22:43

I think that horse has bolted. It’s been his thing for too long. However I agree Boris is now a synonym for “that incompetent idiot”.

But when he was our mayor and everyone called the hire bikes “Boris Bikes” that was really bloody annoying.

He is the absolute worse PM.
