Just listening to her statement to the Scottish Parliament. I don’t want to debate her wider politics or the question of Scottish independence because that’s for the Scots to decide.
I’m just so impressed by her leadership and how clear and concise she is. There’s no waffle, no bluster. She’s just said Scotland is 4wks behind London so the time to act is now before they’re in the same position.

Her manner is just so factual and informative and if I was Scottish or lived in Scotland whether I agreed with her SNP politics or not, I’d be very glad she was my FM. She makes BJ look like an uneducated idiot who is neither responsible nor has the balls to take decisions before the effects are smacking him on the face.

@MaintainTheMolehill It is bad here (England). Restrictive lockdowns that don't target the biggest causes of rising infection rates, last minute decisions, little to no enforcement of breaches... At least now it's obvious Boris is a complete joke, if it wasn't before, but it's little consolation when we still have to live with him screwing things up time and time again.

HibernatingTill2030 · 04/01/2021 15:46

Notnt and yet, I bet people still think he's doing a great job and would happily vote for him again. (Yes, admittedly the alternatives are not great, either).
The bloody state of British politics.

StoopDragon · 04/01/2021 15:47

All she does is take pleasure in trumping Boris in every announcement, she is nothing more than a crankie lookalike

Misshapencha0s · 04/01/2021 15:47

No I don't presume that.

Nosenseofhumour · 04/01/2021 15:48

@NellyJames OMG many apols, I was so incensed at the no of krankie posts that I jumped on the wrong one. Blame dog walking and typing at the same time, really sorry, should have directed at the actual krankie posters. DaffodilDaffodil

DoormatBob · 04/01/2021 15:48

By stating they are 4 weeks behind London she has real data to base and sell her decisions on, do yes it's easy to be decisive.

Boris got loads of stick for introducing Tier 4 when everyone claimed Tier 3 cases were going down, now look where we are.

I don't see what the government have done specifically wrong, all other European countries seem to be in the same scenario. It would not be different with any other political party.

SylviasMotherSaid · 04/01/2021 15:48

She only looks good because she has no effective opposition and the Scottish media don’t challenge her .

AlwaysLatte · 04/01/2021 15:49

I would much prefer her, yes. I'd have to have the Tv on mute when she came on though as her drony voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me!

justanotherneighinparadise · 04/01/2021 15:49

No thank you.

LouScot · 04/01/2021 15:50

Ah sorry @NellyJames! I'm in agreement with you

657user · 04/01/2021 15:52

Completely agree. Boris is a waste of space

garlictwist · 04/01/2021 15:53

I am against Scottish independence and the SNP but I do like NS. I think she's a fantastic politician - honest, clear and natural. Just a shame about her opinions!

scotlandtobali · 04/01/2021 15:56

Love her! A big supporter and have every confidence in her

littlemissdirectional · 04/01/2021 16:00

OP, I live in Scotland and I could not disagree with you more. If you actually listened closely today, she is good at reading from a script, but struggles to give clear, detailed answers to questions she is not prepared for. As an example, when she was asked today about the vaccination programme, she could give very little detailed information about how it will be rolled out to the general, public.

Californiabakes · 04/01/2021 16:00

She’s great and very popular in Scotland

ItsNotGreenItsBlue · 04/01/2021 16:05

She makes me bloody proud to be Scottish, and is a fantastic role model for girls across Scotland too.

ItsNotGreenItsBlue · 04/01/2021 16:06

@littlemissdirectional think you and I were watching two different broadcasts, she was incredibly clear and concise. She can’t give answers to questions that she doesn’t have the answers to herself yet though, why you’d expect her to do that is beyond me Confused

Bouncebacker · 04/01/2021 16:09

I think she is great - have you seen this? www.ted.com/talks/nicola_sturgeon_why_governments_should_prioritize_well_being/up-next?language=en

AndcalloffChristmas · 04/01/2021 16:10

Absolutely re her handling of corona virus. We need to be proactive and get ahead of the virus, not always reacting too late.

And Scotland always seems to be very forward thinking - doing things like banning smacking kids, and taking VAT of sanpro well before E and W.

I don’t want Scotland to leave the UK is the only thing I disageee about - but I’m not Scottish!

RasberryRoyale · 04/01/2021 16:10

She is popular in some parts of Scotland. Where I live, the SNP are not popular and they don’t do well here in elections.

I don’t think she is a great public speaker. One of her recent speeches was twenty minutes of waffle. The woman is a liar. Tell families of those who lost loved ones to Covid in care homes that NS has handled it wonderfully- that was her watch.

Comparing her to BJ isn’t exactly setting the bar high for standards.

Lordamighty · 04/01/2021 16:12

She plays the game of politics very well I’ll give her that.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/01/2021 16:13

It comes across like that but if you read the scottish threads, we are just as bloody confused because it's all soundbites, it sounds good and authoritative but when you start to break it down it's just gobshite said in an authoritative manner. She is the consummate politician but she isn't doing the great job that people in England think she is, you wouldn't really know that though as you are subject to knowing the actual truth rather than what she says.

Nosenseofhumour · 04/01/2021 16:15

@LouScot me too agree with her (and you), my original post was written wrongly and in haste!

Gobbycop · 04/01/2021 16:15

She's been good with this.

Other stuff is idiotic.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while though doesn't it.

Wildswim · 04/01/2021 16:17

Can’t stand her. All style, no substance. Her only skills are propaganda and public speaking.
