Just listening to her statement to the Scottish Parliament. I don’t want to debate her wider politics or the question of Scottish independence because that’s for the Scots to decide.
I’m just so impressed by her leadership and how clear and concise she is. There’s no waffle, no bluster. She’s just said Scotland is 4wks behind London so the time to act is now before they’re in the same position.

Her manner is just so factual and informative and if I was Scottish or lived in Scotland whether I agreed with her SNP politics or not, I’d be very glad she was my FM. She makes BJ look like an uneducated idiot who is neither responsible nor has the balls to take decisions before the effects are smacking him on the face.

oh gosh no, one trick pony.

I am an SNP activist (though probably not for much longer) and am very much in favour of independence. I think that Nicola Sturgeon is an excellent communicator, especially re Covid. However, much of what she is actually doing, both re Scottish Government policies and within the SNP as a political party, does not bear much scrutiny and I actually fear for the way things are heading at the moment under her watch. Any political party that is driven by personality rather than policy is worrying to me.

This makes for an interesting read whether you are in Scotland or elsewhere as it talks about the growing trend of "fandoms" for politicians ie liking the personality rather than holding them to account on their policies. www.google.com/search?q=commonsource&rlz=1C1DIMC_enGB803GB804&oq=commonsource&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i10l9.3011j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

SmokedDuck · 05/03/2021 16:09

Trump has a lot to do with the fandom thing, I think. His personality was so polarising that few people could actually be bothered to look at the actual results of his policies compared to the actual results of other presidents policies. Any attempt to do so resulted in being called all sorts of vile things.

It seems to have spread.

I wonder if the OP has changed their mind?

Ho ho ho

To wish Nicola Sturgeon was Prime Minister.
Rainbowshit · 08/04/2023 20:46

Ah ha ha ha. I said she was corrupt under a different name. So right. We tried to tell you...

TonTonMacoute · 08/04/2023 20:49

It's amazing how she managed to fool so many people for so long!

x2boys · 08/04/2023 20:53

It's m.amazed there haven't been more threads about her on the main boards tbh!
if BOJO,s wife was arrested and had his house searched Aibu would be full.if threads about it.

Nicolas sturgeon and her husband have finally showed their true colours. An embarrassing moment for snp and an independent Scotland.

Northernsouloldies · 09/04/2023 01:05

So op instead of sturgeon just fucking one country you would like her to fuck the whole of the UK. You have no idea how her policies and mismanagement of Scotland has been for the Scottish population. Her handling of covid was a joke, anything to be different from England. Hanging about cop 26 for selfies whilst posing with a can of irn bru. The Scottish Parliament is like a badly run council with money to burn.

Florenz · 09/04/2023 01:12

I always knew she was dodgy, so obvious.

LadyGodiva4 · 09/04/2023 01:14

She'd certainly do a much better job than the current bunch that's on offer.

Northernsouloldies · 09/04/2023 01:25

Have you any idea of the many fuck ups and cover ups she was party too?. Granted the current crop snp cabinet are weak. High time for a change of govt in Scotland. Plus we have the greens now that really is a case of the tail wagging the dog.

Northernsouloldies · 09/04/2023 04:18

Luxury motor home seized from outside sturgeons mums house. This just keeps getting better.

Ishbam · 09/04/2023 07:44

At last, folks are seeing the true sticky Nicky.
If she has a joint bank account with Peter then she is implicated.
I hope this is the case and she is put into Cornton Vale, she can share a cell with her trans chums!

BashirWithTheGoodBeard · 09/04/2023 07:49

This aged well.

Ishbam · 09/04/2023 07:52

My dad who is in his 80’s is a SNP supporter, I have tried to warn him over the years about sticky Nicky but he wouldn’t hear if it. He is so deluded by her that he has a framed photo of her by his chair. Won’t hear a bad word said about her!

I haven’t said “I told you so” because he is hurting. It is people like my dad who PM & as far as I am concerned sticky Nicky as well, have stolen money from and are the victims of their fraudulent schemes.

Nicolas sturgeon and her husband have finally showed their true colours. An embarrassing moment for snp and an independent Scotland.

It always amazes my how many people are unable to separate the SNP and the desire to be an independent country. Maybe if Scottish Labour weren't so desperate to keep our country firmly under the boot of Westminster we'd have seen a change of government by now.

On the topic at hand, it's worth pointing out that Peter Murrel has been released without charge and that Nicola Sturgeon herself hasn't been officially implicated at all (yet), so all those 'I told you he/she was a criminal' posts are a bit premature.

I also do find it very interesting that this has become a police matter. From my understanding the investigation is over whether c.£660k of dinations raised since 2017, specifically for a Scottish independence campaign, were in part spent by the SNP on other acactivities. So essentially, the police are looking into whether a few hundred thousand that was meant to be used on an indyref2 campaign was used for the day to day running of the party instead.

You'd like to think that if the misuse of £600k by a political party warrants a police investigation that £13 billion in covid fraud, or £10-18 billion of dodgy covid contract awards, or claiming if you vote for brexit we'll give £350m per week to the NHS, would also be worthy of looking into, yet I can't see anything about an investigation into those areas. I've also not seen any unionists calling for one, why is that? Fraud only matter if it's committed by a party you don't like?

Rainbowshit · 09/04/2023 11:31

@Thebestwaytoscareatory are you new to Mumsnet? 🙄

MarshaBradyo · 09/04/2023 11:37

This hasn’t age well at all

Some as the pp will still defend it but I’d say the fall from grace is complete

BashirWithTheGoodBeard · 09/04/2023 11:38

Would Police Scotland have jurisdiction over these matters? I don't think the 350 million bollocks amounts to a crime, sadly, and legal action has already been tried and failed over that one, but the other things you mention.

IAmTheWalrus85 · 09/04/2023 11:43

I’m no fan of hers at all, but she hasn’t been arrested, charged with anything or even questioned as far as I know?

Her husband lent in excess of £100k to the SNP and you think she was oblivious? 🙄
