OMG I'm 11 stone

thecutback · 02/01/2021 09:18

Heaviest I've ever been.

This year has been tough, iui, then ivf, then a traumatic miscarriage and then the drinking and eating that comes with Christmas etc.

Really need to get it sorted! Very unhappy at this weight

OP posts:
crimsonlake · 02/01/2021 10:31

I understand where you are coming from....11 stone is too heavy for your size and you do not feel good. Great that you have the motivation to do something about it.
I am 5ft 2 and feel my best at about 9 stone, I know I am probably closer to 9.6 stone at the moment but I have been hitting the leftover Christmas goodies the last few days and it goes straight to my waist.
I know my jeans are going to feel really tight.
Why is it so easy to put the weight on but it takes forever to lose it.

Siw2020 · 02/01/2021 10:34

Surprised by some of the responses!

Its all relative - If you were a hench body-builder and lost all that work you put in due to lockdown/gyms closing you'd be pretty upset about it (not quite a bodybuilder for a profession but my DP)

I'm weighing in at almost 9stone which is outrageous for me at 5'3! Was on a fitness spree due to having moved closed to a gym/good time in career/life etc, was working out 4-6/week and was in the best space mentally as I have been for years. Now gyms have closed. Christmas has happened. I'm eating cake after every meal (i live with someone who is baking mad). I'm a bit low about it and just hoping my motivation will come back when gyms are open...

CrotchBurn · 02/01/2021 10:35

So many unhappy women on this thread. This thread was about the OP feeling too heavy. If you're insecure about your weight go and do something about it instead of shitting all over her

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 02/01/2021 10:36

Good luck.
I'm currently 15st. My ultimate goal is 11st... Which appears to be my healthy weight (from about 10.7st-11st). Your natural healthy weight is lower than that, and that's because we are all different heights as frames.

I lost over a stone in the summer by cutting back on carbs and increasing exercise. My 'diet plan' is basically eat food not processed stuff. So mainly fruit, veg and protein. Cutting back my wine to weekends only (only one bottle a weekend... Im getting through several bottles a week at the moment. Because it's nice, not for the alcohol). Ignoring the massive box of chocolate etc the kids got for Christmas.

I believe a lot of weight loss is mental... As in, we have to believe that we want it. If you aren't in the right mindset, it doesn't work.

MichelleofzeResistance · 02/01/2021 10:36

OMG I'm 13 stone (again) having put on half a stone over Christmas despite trying hard, and having managed to lose 2 stone last year. With a chronic illness and disability limiting mobility, it's bloody hard to lose a pound without resorting to starvation diets.

Deep breath, resume work on it, if you're lucky enough to be someone who can lose weight steadily and easily when you try then it shouldn't be too hard to get back to where you feel happier. I will start slogging from today. It may involve however handcuffing DM who is staying with me, has no clue what carbs are or what is in them, and is compulsively trying to stuff as many into me as possible with eye rolls and grumping if I try to explain for the umpteenth time that I'm trying hard not to eat that stuff. (And that it's pointless constantly saying how lovely it is I no longer look like a whale when she's doing her utmost to get me back there again) Angry

shitinmyhandsandclap · 02/01/2021 10:36

I was 18.5 stone at 5'1 this time 2 years ago, I'm now 8 stone...it's totally doable

treeslets · 02/01/2021 10:38

I daren't weigh myself. I was 13st last time I did and I'm only 5ft 3 so that's definitely more than I should weigh! I don't do New Years resolutions but I do know I need to lose weight and have done for a good few years now.

feelingverylazytoday · 02/01/2021 10:38

@wildraisins

I would love to be 11 stone.
How is this relevant to the OP?
GreenClock · 02/01/2021 10:39

I’m sorry to read about your difficult year OP. I really hope that 2021 is the year you become and stay pregnant.

I want to lose weight and am finishing it tough to get motivated. I am medically overweight but not obese, and therefore it’s easy to think “it’s not so bad really” before eating something fattening.

badpuma · 02/01/2021 10:43

That's amazing! Well done.
Confusedcabbage · 02/01/2021 10:45

@Shitonthebloodything

I'm under 5ft and at guessing over 14st. That's around 6st overweight for my height. I'm a size 16. Hardly in need of a crane to get out of the house.

Fuck it. Not the end of the world is it?!

I'll deal with it when I'm ready and the world isn't falling apart. Give yourself a break there's more to life than the size of your arse.

14st under 5ft is not a size 16 Hmm

Really?

That's quite sad and worrying. Several bottles a week means you are way in excess of 14 units a week max.

Are you sure it's not for' the alcohol? TBH the chocolate is possibly less harmful for both your weight and liver.

MrsMiaWallis · 02/01/2021 10:46

For a minute there I thought hellsbells was going to be non judgemental! Silly me!

JinglingHellsBells · 02/01/2021 10:48

This has turned partly into stealth boasts/jealousy, about how fat some posters are, trying to minimise the OP's weight.

How incredibly helpful.

Maybe less time sat at the keyboard and more effort moving around might be helpful?

JinglingHellsBells · 02/01/2021 10:49

@MrsMiaWallis

For a minute there I thought hellsbells was going to be non judgemental! Silly me!
It's not being judgemental asking a question or pointing out a medical guidance to try to help.

Or you can choose to see it like that if it upsets you and hits a nerve.

JinglingHellsBells · 02/01/2021 10:52

@MrsMiaWallis It wasn't even your post I was quoting so not sure why you feel the need to slap someone down for posting medical advice and asking that poster to reconsider her behaviour.

What's your response' There, there, dear, carry on drinking your several bottles a week...?'

OvaHere · 02/01/2021 10:53

I'm the same OP. I made a good start last new year joining a fitness class then the pandemic happened and I suspect I'm now nearer 12/13 (I daren't look).

I spent last evening perusing the exercise board and am thinking of signing up to Les Mills on demand (30 day free trial) as gyms staying open is too unstable at moment for me to want to commit the money.

I've also bought the 2021 Slimming World pack (eBay) and if works for me I'll probably join the online version.

Well done to everyone who has lost weight, however much. It's not easy but clearly is doable. I used to be able to maintain a stable weight without much effort but being 40 something has really changed that and I've realised I can no longer be complacent and need a massive rethink.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 02/01/2021 10:54

Shed a stone and you will feel mostly back to normal it's really not that bad.

Haven't you anything better to do than post about this on mumsnet?

OvaHere · 02/01/2021 10:55

I'd also start a new thread in weight loss or exercise OP. I don't think AIBU is the best place for support.

Anyoldname12 · 02/01/2021 10:55

It's not being judgemental asking a question or pointing out a medical guidance to try to help.
The poster wasn’t asking for help. It was clear they had already identified the wine was an issue for them. It was dripping with judgement I agree @MrsMiaWallis

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 10:55

@Aroundtheworldin80moves I absolutely ignore the unit guidance, but I remember when I went overboard for a while and drunk several bottles. It's not good. And I don't mean liver wise only. It made me puffy and moody and ugh just useless with perma "hangover". Dropped it to 2 and it's much better overall with energy, swelling and mood.

MrsMiaWallis · 02/01/2021 10:56

Haven't you anything better to do than post about this on mumsnet?

The irony.

AliceBlueGown · 02/01/2021 10:56

My weight has gradually crept up to 11stone and can completely understand how you feel. I have also been through IVF treatment. In just wanted to say that I understand - be kind to yourself - maybe focus on a couple of health improvements and then review again - just small, easy to achieve improvements. There are a lot of unhappy people on MN at the moment - try to ignore.

TrailingLobelias · 02/01/2021 10:56

I am also the heaviest I've ever been- by two stone. I am usually very sporty but had two big injuries this year and didn't adjust my diet. Actually, I ate more because I was sitting around at home on weekends rather than doing long cycles.

I am not emotional about it. I'm making soup today that will do for my dinner for the week. I've told my partner only to have sweets I don't like in the house. I'm doing press ups, planks and any exercise I can while my leg heals.

I absolutely cannot do long distance cycling with an extra two stone to carry. It has to go and it will.

ThornAmongstRoses · 02/01/2021 10:57

I’m with you OP!!!

I’m pretty sure I’m near the 11st mark and I’m really not happy about it Shock

Today was my first day of having no chocolate or naughty snacks and reduced portions for my meals - I felt quite hungry when I went to bed Grin

I’m taking it one day at a time and then I’m going to weight myself in a month and see if I’ve lost some of the weight in the hope it will inspire me to keep going.
