OMG I'm 11 stone

thecutback · 02/01/2021 09:18

Heaviest I've ever been.

This year has been tough, iui, then ivf, then a traumatic miscarriage and then the drinking and eating that comes with Christmas etc.

Really need to get it sorted! Very unhappy at this weight

OP posts:
SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 02/01/2021 10:57

I may regret biting, but 11 stone is well within my healthy BMI. These threads never go well. Might have been an idea, and a great deal more tactful, to put this is the Weight Loss topic OP Hmm

Xenia · 02/01/2021 10:57

The fact people think someone saying they are 11 stone is showing off how light they are is one reason cv19 has hit the UK and US so badly as so many people have lost sight of normal healthy weights (and yes I would like to lose 2 stone and will try this year).

I think it is a useful thread because for a lot of people it is the creeping weight gain over the years that becomes the next Boris J almost dead with CV19 because he was well over 17 stone.

Not that it is easy to lose weight for most of us.... would there were an easy way, a magic pill.

Labobo · 02/01/2021 10:58

I'm 5'4 and just under 11 stone. But was almost 12 stone last summer. I know how you feel. It's a very shocking moment when you stand on the scales and realise how far you've slipped from your healthy normal weight.

I don't diet but am doing Dry Jan, no processed sugar and 4-5 bootcamps a week until I get down to below 10 stone. Fancy joining me? If you are going for IVF (been there) you may feel better to focus on very healthy eating and gentle very regular exercise.

MrsMiaWallis · 02/01/2021 10:59

Dolly on weight gain

I'm really sorry as I don't know how to do share tokens, but if you can read this OP, I thought it was such lovely advice.

MumUndone · 02/01/2021 11:01

I reakon I'm about the same OP. I don't have scales in the house but none of the clothes I wore at the start of the year fit so I'm also aiming to get back to 9 stone. Good luck, I'm sure you can do it.

crossstitchingnana · 02/01/2021 11:06

I daren't weigh myself. This has been a shit year and living on Zoom I have "let myself go" and guess I am pushing 10 st. This is two stone over what I was a few years ago. Realistically I want to be 9 or just under. I know it's nothing compared to others but I feel shit and I hate myself. And my size 8-10 clothes are tight. Today is back on Yoga and back on healthier eating. Good luck OP.

Nanny2many · 02/01/2021 11:07

I’m 5.1 with a tiny frame so even just a few pounds over weight just shows on me. It goes straight To my face and stomach. My mother is the same. She tells me half a stone on us is like 2 stone on a taller average person.

I crept up to 11 stone and felt so uncomfortable. I did slimming world and lost 2 stone but over lockdown I’ve been comfort eating and moving less so I’m on the tipping point of 10 stone

zzizzer · 02/01/2021 11:08

It shouldn't be such a sore point either.
We are generally overweight- something like 63% of uk adults. This isn't some big moral failing. Its partly the result of decades of big food, drink and retail industries marketing and strategies shaping our lives - along with increasingly sedentary lifestyles.

Very few of us grow up these days with a simple relationship with food.

porcelinaofthevastoceanss · 02/01/2021 11:09

11 st and 5 foot here. Meh. It’ll come off slowly but surely. Goal weight is 9 1/2 but that’s a few pregnancies ago now!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 02/01/2021 11:09

You've been through a difficult time, go easy on yourself. A bmi of 26 is really not that bad, a bit of dieting and you'll get below that.

There are lots of weight loss threads in the Being Slim section you should check out. We have one for petites but based on your bmi and weight I'm guessing you're 5'4 so probably a bit tall for our shortie group Grin

MimiLaRue · 02/01/2021 11:10

@midgebabe

Good grief, is everyone really saying don't worry about being overweight because others are worse ?
I agree- I dont get this mentality at all- Ive known people who are 30 stone, does that mean those who are 28 stone cannot ever express a wish to change their weight?

Its ridiculous

SecretRedhead · 02/01/2021 11:10

"Omg I'm 11 stone" shock horror!

This is Tuesday for lots of people. You'll live.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 02/01/2021 11:11

I'm sorry you've had such a shit year, on top of the crap year we've all had! I hope 2021 brings you some baby joy x

I think your title got to a lot of people, because you made being 11 stone sound like it was absolutely disgusting. It was your title, not your post.

But you were posting, in shock, about your own weight & didn't mean to come across like that!!

I remember when being 9stone made me feel the same!

LONG GONE are those days. Sadly.

But anyway, back to you🙂

You've had a really tough year, physically, hormonally & emotionally - it's hardly surprising you've put some weight on & equally unsurprising you want to get rid of it.

Jason Fung books are good and his pod casts make interesting listening. I like to listen to them when I'm walking.

Best of luck with ditching the pounds & with having your long awaited baby x

thenightsky · 02/01/2021 11:11

Thanks to lockdown and Xmas I'm now the heaviest I've been since I was 9 months pregnant in 1991 Shock.

What grieves me the most is that I cannot wear 95% of the lovely clothes I own. Sad

Dry January and strict no eating if I'm not hungry/no sweets etc regime hopefully will help. On the other hand, my age is against me.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 11:13

Shock I had to check the title again to make sure I am not dreaming.
"OMG, I am 11 stone" doesn't make something sound "absolutely disgusting". What's wrong with people?!Shock

Changi · 02/01/2021 11:16

What's wrong with people?

The OP weighs less than they do, and they don't like it.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 02/01/2021 11:17

@MrsMiaWallis

I wasn't trying to 'compete' in any way! Just trying to reach oit to the OP and say I'm also 2 stone heavier than I'd like.

I'd like to do 16.8 BUT I have to get up early and do my horses, so really genuinely enjoy coming home and having a mug of coffee and a lovely slice of wholemeal bread with butter and honey! It's my favourite meal of the day!

Why can't you do 16:8.? No rules about what time the 8 starts.

This is exactly me. I got on the scales in the summer and was 10st 7lb (which is actually half a stone lighter than I was before I got pregnant). I'm working on getting to 9 stone at the moment but even then I'll still look 'chubby'. I have to get to 8 stone to actually look properly slim at this height, but it's not realistic, I can't maintain that and be happy!
MimiLaRue · 02/01/2021 11:20

@Changi

This - spot on.

But its silly- we all have areas we want to improve upon and weight is so dependent on height and build and physical health etc that 11 stone at 6 foot is VERY different to 11 stone at 5 foot.

A lot of these snarky replies reek of bitterness and jealousy to me...

It's bizarre.

On MN you're not allowed to mention weight unless you're saying your massively overweight.

And the posts saying being overweight is just fine, and that OP should shut up about it, are absolutely bonkers!

As Xenia said, it's a good part of why the U.K. and US have been so wracked by COVID. On MN though, that's solely the governments fault.

Nonamesavail · 02/01/2021 11:21

Same. I was only 8st 3 in my pregnancies. Im now 11 its crept up slowly!

SofiaMichelle · 02/01/2021 11:21

Should have added: I'm a stone overweight myself!

ivfbeenbusy · 02/01/2021 11:22

IVF and miscarriages can play havoc with your weight - I did 5 rounds of IVF in 18 months and had 6 miscarriages - I could have cried when I weighed myself at over 11 stone - I AM short and therefore that did put my BMI in the overweight category.

I did that couch to 5k thing and ate really healthy and got down to just over 10 stone but it took longer to lose the weight than when I last dieted for my wedding 8 years before .....then fell pregnant with twins 🤣🙈 - I can't facing going near the scales until these babies are out

supercee · 02/01/2021 11:22

Why does AIBU bring out all the arseholes? Baffles me.

Anyway, it's all relative. 11 stone, to me anyway at 5'3 is heavy. Really heavy. Well done you OP for recognising that you need to be healthier. Most of us do. I also need to lose about a stone and a bit to bring me under 9 stone and to make me feel comfortable.

Why some people feel the need to be sneery is beyond me.

Goatscheesewithhoney · 02/01/2021 11:22

@thecutback -11 stone too. And 9 stone is also (was also!) my normal weight.

I gained 7lb of it very recently, after being pregnant and miscarrying at 8 weeks. I’ve not no idea how I put that much weight on in such a short space of time - I convinced myself it was “water weight” or something to do with my hormones... but it hasn’t gone Sad

So now I can’t fit into any of my clothes, as well as still grieving for that pregnancy, and am officially “over weight” based on my BMI, for the first time in my life. Currently eating chocolate after weighting myself as it feels like there is little point.

So, not the most motivating post; just wanted to let you know that I empathise Flowers
