OMG I'm 11 stone

thecutback · 02/01/2021 09:18

Heaviest I've ever been.

This year has been tough, iui, then ivf, then a traumatic miscarriage and then the drinking and eating that comes with Christmas etc.

Really need to get it sorted! Very unhappy at this weight

OP posts:
MsTSwift · 02/01/2021 10:17

I don’t eat until 11.30 am most days early lunch early dinner both on small plates. Minimise snacks. Booze weekends only. Cardio before I shower in the morning. No different food or recipes required. Lost 2 stone in 4 months

Edel2019 · 02/01/2021 10:18

@MsTSwift

So much better to address being a little overweight then leaving it. I was only a little overweight but at mid 40s if had carried on as I was would have got really big. On it now though
I completely agree. OP this is the time to address it. Simple, yet consistent changes. Consistency is the key, but it is the hardest!
  • drink an extra glass of water today
  • add 5 minutes to your walk
  • add extra veg to your lunch and to your dinner
Littlefluffyclouds13 · 02/01/2021 10:18

Ffs.
Op is saying she's unhappy with her weight. She's also explained she's had a tough year.
So coming on to say you're way bigger is hardly helpful is it?
I don't suppose op gives a shiny shit if anyone is twice her weight, she's asking for help and support.

FTMF30 · 02/01/2021 10:19

Good for you for taling some positive steps OP. It sounds like you've had such a tough time and it can be so easy to spiral. I think having a focus on fitness will do you the world of good.

OliviaPopeRules · 02/01/2021 10:19

Good luck op, I am sure you can do it once you are focused. I haven’t had ivf but I can imagine the stress and hormones have a big impact. Don’t be sorry and ignore the competitive weight crap on here. I am 20 stone and would love to be 11 stone but that is no help to you and doesn’t impact the fact you want to lose weight.
Try reading the beck diet book, it isn’t an actual diet so you will need to decide what you are doing diet wise (MFP, WW etc) but it help with habits etc and as you were 9 stone for a long time you will probably get back into good habits relatively quickly.

frumpety · 02/01/2021 10:19

It doesn't matter if it's 2lb or 10st you want to lose, if it makes you unhappy then it makes you unhappy. It's all valid and it's not a competition

That is very true and I am in the need to lose 10stone catergory. Hope you have a better year OP and good luck with losing the weight you want to lose Smile

mummax3 · 02/01/2021 10:19

You've been through alot, cut yourself some slack. I am at my heaviest too, fresh start, you can do it xx

I totally agree with your posts!!

Recipes, diets, etc do not equal consistency. They equal quick change, short-term results.

Kissthepastrychef · 02/01/2021 10:21

How is it helpful to the OP for people to be banging on about how lucky she is to be 11 stone when they are much heavier ? It's all relative to your own life.
Op I weigh 18 stone. That doesn't minimise how upset you are perfectly entitled to be that you have put on weight. It's been a shitty year but saying "oh well at least it's only a bit of weight, why do you care" isn't very helpful. There's not much I can say other than here is a virtual hug.

EleanorRigbyWasReal · 02/01/2021 10:22

I’m 5 5” and 11 stone. Every time I diet and get below, I always come back to 11 stone. Now, I don’t weight myself. I exercise every day for half an hour’s cardio and walk the dog twice daily as well. I cycle when I can. My clothes are my gauge... when they start to get uncomfortable I cut down.

Not everyone fits neatly on the “height weight” chart! 😊

DressingGownofDoom · 02/01/2021 10:23

I dread to think what weight I am, since I discovered Popsy I live in them and think I could put on about 2 stone and still fit in my dresses. Snag tights too, amazingly comfortable but don't give you the warning signs that you're getting too fat by ripping at the crotch or rolling down your belly!

Laufeythejust · 02/01/2021 10:23

It’s definitely fixable OP. Just remember slow and stead wins the race- don’t try and crash diet as it only makes it worse. Just find a way that works for you- all diets are some way of calorie reduction, whether that’s fasting, keto, slimming world etc. If you have a fitness watch wear that and work out roughly how many calories you burn in a day, then take off 500 and the number on the scale will fall. My fitness pal can sometimes recommend too few calories (in my experience anyway). Do measurements too- if you exercise the scale sometimes can take longer to move but the inches still reduce.
Also try and hit 35% of your calories from protein, especially if your exercising, it will keep you fuller and reduce the urge to snack.
I started 2020 13 stone 7 and am now 11 stone and within my healthy BMI (I’m tall). It’s not easy but it’s all about routine and accountability.

Sammysquiz · 02/01/2021 10:23

Whatever your weight is irrelevant. What is how you feel about it.

That would be lovely if true, but unfortunately all the illnesses that being overweight increases the risk of don’t give a shit about how you feel.

OP - just posting on here is a great first step. My biggest tip is to find a form of exercise you enjoy. I’ve lost a lot of weight through walking - lots of hills at a relatively quick pace, but start gently at first.

Kissthepastrychef · 02/01/2021 10:24

My new year resolution is to do couch to 5k. I'm not making any dieting resolution this year but hoping that the c25k will make me want to eat more healthily.

wildraisins · 02/01/2021 10:24

I would love to be 11 stone.

Morituritesalutant · 02/01/2021 10:24

Sorry you’ve had a hard time
OP!

I’m 22st (facing up to the need to lose weight desperately) but my weight doesn’t minimise your right to be upset that you’ve gained weight and now are past a weight you’re happy with.

Good luck in your weight loss. Journey

Beautiful3 · 02/01/2021 10:24

Pop your trainers on and go for a run. But back on the chocolates and treats, save them for the weekend. You can do this.

MrsMiaWallis · 02/01/2021 10:25

I wasn't trying to 'compete' in any way! Just trying to reach oit to the OP and say I'm also 2 stone heavier than I'd like.

I'd like to do 16.8 BUT I have to get up early and do my horses, so really genuinely enjoy coming home and having a mug of coffee and a lovely slice of wholemeal bread with butter and honey! It's my favourite meal of the day!

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 02/01/2021 10:25

I wish I was 11 stone!! I jumped on the scales yesterday and nearly died! 14st 5lbs

Imapotato · 02/01/2021 10:25

I’d feel the same OP. People can say “well I’m 30st so 11 isn’t that bad at all” and I’m the great scheme of things it isn’t, but it’s how you feel about it yourself. You don’t need to be happy with being overweight just because someone else is bigger.

I’m 5ft 3.5 and got up to almost 11 stone back in about April. That’s the heaviest I’ve been not pregnant and I felt I needed to do something about it. I’m really not into exercise other than walking, but have managed to drop just over a stone and keep it off. Just by not over eating and drinking less alcohol. I’ve put on a couple of pounds over Christmas, but hope I’ll naturally drop them now that I’m not eating my own body weight in cheese every day.

I find I’m happy enough so long as I stay under 10 stone.

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/01/2021 10:26

Me too lol. Bang in the middle of my healthy BMI.

MajesticWhine · 02/01/2021 10:27

Thanks @justanotherremainer

What a great post!!! 🥰
Jbh333 · 02/01/2021 10:29

I am one pound off 11 stone. It also doesn’t help I have separated abs so I look about 6 months pregnant whilst the rest of me doesn’t look as big.

I guess the 5 bottles of wine a week and super snacking with zero exercise is where I’m going wrong but have no desire or motivation at the mo! I just stare at it in the mirror in despair.

WorraLiberty · 02/01/2021 10:31

The posters saying they're 13 stone/20 stone etc

There would've been a time when you too were 'only' 2 stone overweight like the OP.

Would all the Hmm faces and sarky posts have made you feel any better about that?
