Heaviest I've ever been.

This year has been tough, iui, then ivf, then a traumatic miscarriage and then the drinking and eating that comes with Christmas etc.

Really need to get it sorted! Very unhappy at this weight

OP posts:
tisonlymeagain · 02/01/2021 14:04

@SchrodingersImmigrant

The OP is determined to do something about it now.

And good for her I say.
One tip. Put mirror somewhere you pass so you don't end up swimming in a lake of denial🙈

I always think I look great in my mirrors at home.

It's the sneaky ones in shops that get me.

Or a window reflection. Who is that old saggy chubster staring at me? Oh fuck, it IS me.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 02/01/2021 14:05

And don’t you feel better for telling all us fatties just how disgusting we are. Slow hand clap for you

But she didn’t say that, did she Confused. Sorry if that doesn’t fit the narrative. I’m overweight - I eat too much 🤷‍♀️. I exercise a lot but it’s the portion size that’s my issue. Well done to the OP and everyone else recognising especially now that it’s something that needs to be addressed. That’s a very long way from calling someone disgusting as well you know Smile

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 14:07

@tisonlymeagain 😂
All mirrors have that effect on me. But when i look down I see size 12. Look i to the mirror and.. wtf. 😂

i think we could happily infer that from her post. Oi you fatties. Stop eating all the food and be more like me. Forget those who are eating through emotional distress or food addiction. Just be slim like me. Brilliant. Inspired!

Well, lets see shall we? the fact that many overweight people on this thread did not interpret her post like that means that NO, we "all" didnt "happily infer that". If you are incredibly sensitive about weight then maybe dont participate in a thread about weight? just a thought.

The OP said nothing wrong and was referring to her own feelings about her own weight. She is perfectly entitled and allowed to have her own feelings without others barging in and transferring their own dysfunctional issues onto her and implying things she never actually said.

Lily83 · 02/01/2021 14:17

I am sorry you have had such a terrible time.
Weight gain can be a response to trauma
But well done for being proactive and wanting to do something to improve your health and well being

Dr Chatterjee is a NHS doctor who has made really interesting television programmes about people turning their health around
drchatterjee.com

He has just written a book

Feel Great Lose Weight: Long term, simple habits for lasting and sustainable weight loss
by Dr Rangan Chatterjee | 31 Dec 2020

He has a very non judgemental attitude and recognises the emotional and societal causes which can contribute to weight gain etc.

Also Marissa Peer has lots of u tube channels which looks at weight loss, self esteem, confidence etc

You Can Be Thin: The Ultimate Programme to End Dieting...Forever

I am sure the unkind messages on this thread are from people who are very unhappy or angry themselves

Wishing you a much happier 2021

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 14:18

Feeling like in Odeon with all these projections going on😂
Anyhoo. T'was interesting.

Good luck @thecutback! You can do it and hope all will go better this year. That goes for everyone!

WanderingHopefully · 02/01/2021 14:19

@Bubblemonkey

I’d give a functional organ to be 11st Hmm
Why is that of any consequence to the OP's desire to lose some weight?
WorraLiberty · 02/01/2021 14:22

Well you clearly could, @justanotherneighinparadise but you might want to examine why that is.

Another woman talking about her own body and her own weight issues, really shouldn't translate to all that in your head to be fair.

ShirleyPhallus · 02/01/2021 14:26
@MimiLaRue
I'm not shocked it's the fattest country in Europe and people have completely warped perceptions of weight and dint even realise it. All the posters who looked "gaunt", "ill", "unwell" at size 10... No you didnt, at a present day size 10 you looked completely normal. I once saw someone on here claim they were much better at size 16 because at a size 10 "you could see my collar bones". Well yes - like a normal person of a healthy weight.
Have we had “BMI is nonsense anyway, don’t you know Arnie is overweight according to that”

Well 'we' could if we didn't have basic comprehension skills. Or maybe if 'we' were projecting personal concerns onto someone else.

Eh?

Yes think your own hang ups are making you read in to things that are not really there.

I’m 10,6 and I hate it. My boobs are massive and I’ve got a fat back. My clothes don’t fit and I refuse to buy anymore. I’m perfectly in my right to say that about myself

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/01/2021 14:37

Let’s go back to the original post I quoted

Jeez, some of the comments on here show exactly why we have an obesity crisis in this country. As a woman, you have to be really quite tall for 11 stone to be an ideal weight. I am 5’ 9” and weigh significantly less than that.

Why do you have to be morbidly obese before it’s acceptable to complain about your weight? Being overweight has gone from being a bad thing (which it absolutely is), to being acceptable, to being the norm, and that’s a really bad thing for the health of the individual, for society and for the environment.

I am 11 stone and a healthy weight for my height. My BMI and clothes size dictate this and I’ve also worked bloody hard to get here. So absolutely I’m offended by a post that infers I am overweight at this weight and an inch smaller than this poster’s height.

If I am supposedly fat at a healthy weight and a dress size 10/12 then we lived in a very fucked up society. God knows how posts like this make people feel who are heavier.

NuniaBeeswax · 02/01/2021 14:39

"If I am supposedly fat at a healthy weight and a dress size 10/12 "

Someone will be along in a minute to tell you how unhealthy you are at that size because a 10/12 nowadays was actually a 36 back in the 80s.

CrotchBurn · 02/01/2021 14:41

@justanotherneighinparadise
Good for you. The OP wasnt about you though

multicolouredcandycanes · 02/01/2021 14:42

Most of us have been there! This time last year I was 15st – I got down to 11st 4 by the start of dec and have managed to creep my way back up to 11st 9, but that will come off in about a month and then I'll hopefully be at my goal weight by summer.

I don't know a lot about IUI and IVF but watched a video on it last night and am amazed & saddened at just how intense and stressful both processes are. I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I hope that this thread helps you figure out what works best for your weight loss Smile

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/01/2021 14:42

I wasn’t talking about the OP, I was quoting a poster who was calling those of my height and weight overweight. I think it’s damaging and I called it out.

Seasaltyhair · 02/01/2021 14:42

Someone thin will come along and tell me to eat 1200 cals a day and I will basically combust.
TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 02/01/2021 14:45

To all the people who tagged me - enough. The OP was shocked to weigh so much, its been a shitter of a year, its the second of January and our Christmas tree isn't even packed away yet, Can we please have a break from being told how shocking it is to be overweight?

I'm sorry its been a rubbish year for you OP, but there is a whole board dedicated to weightloss, it woul have been better to post there.

MimiLaRue · 02/01/2021 14:45

So you admit that there was nothing wrong with the OP's post?

Great!

Pinkstars2501 · 02/01/2021 14:45

I hear you OP.

I got down to my goal weight, then a surgery and 2 lots of IVF later I'm about the same weight as you (a little heavier actually) and it's shit. My IVF didn't even work so it's just a fat reminder everytime I look in a mirror.

I started calorie counting today and will start exercise on Monday. I'm not starting this weekend because I work in care and haven't had any kind of chill out over the festive period so I'm having this weekend!

But wouldn't the NHS BMI calculator put you at overweight given the info you've provided? It's not an attack but based on where my own BMI is on NHS.

I think people get different perspectives of size depending on their source of information and where they shop. E.g. I get some basics from Primark which puts me at a size XS. My days of being an XS are long gone!

Lurcherloves · 02/01/2021 14:49

I’m 5’ 7 and would feel huge at 11 st but I have a small frame and put weight round my middle. If i put weight on my hips instead it would probably be fine. My ideal is 9 and a half stone
