OMG I'm 11 stone

thecutback · 02/01/2021 09:18

Heaviest I've ever been.

This year has been tough, iui, then ivf, then a traumatic miscarriage and then the drinking and eating that comes with Christmas etc.

Really need to get it sorted! Very unhappy at this weight

OP posts:

@Joeblack066

A better post would have been “OMG I’m the heaviest I have ever been”. As all you’ve done is upset a lot of people. Surely that wasn’t your intention....... 🤷‍♀️
The OP wasn't remotely offensive or insensitive, she was talking about her own weight, not anyone elses.

Some people have chosen to be offended.

Justgorgeous · 02/01/2021 13:17

I’m 5ft 6 and 11 stone. I feel too big and want to down to 10 stone. Everyone is different.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 02/01/2021 13:21

@MimiLaRue that's very kind - thank you.

CherryBlossomTree7 · 02/01/2021 13:26

Don't be hard on yourself OP.

Set a plan of action as to how you're going to lose the weight you want to lose. Don't go crazy. Do it sensibly and safely.

Once I've finished off the Christmas treats that no one else will eat, I'm determined to set my own plan. I'm about 11 stone (not weighed myself in a while) and want to get under 10 stone at least. There will be a lot of people in the same boat as us right now with Christmas and lockdown.

CrochetToTheMoon · 02/01/2021 13:27

I’m 5ft 1 and 10st 12lb and i’m also really uncomfortable in my clothes. I’m doing Slimming World or MyFitnessPal, i’ve done both before with success but when I don’t stick to anything it goes back on. I need some sort of control and whilst SW/MFP doesn’t work for everyone I like to have targets to stick too

PickAChew · 02/01/2021 13:31

I would say I can't believe that people are still minimising op's dissatisfaction with being 11 stone but this is mumsnet and nothing surprises me.

I'm 5'4 and feel terrible when I get up to 11 stone. My knees hurt constantly (I have hms) and I get breathless much more quickly on hills (and it's all hills, where I live)

Thankfully, I can keep my bmi at 25 with little effort but I've gained a few Christmas/ dire weather pounds. If January doesn't shift them again, I absolutely will go back to mfp for some added self discipline.

If you have a problem with someone's wish not to be at all overweight, that is entirely your problem, not theirs. Don't whine that OP is insensitive. Put the energy into working on yourself.

PickAChew · 02/01/2021 13:33

Also menopausal and well aware that overweight menopausal women in really good health are the exception, not the norm.

rainbowunicorn · 02/01/2021 13:39

@Flowerpot321

Wow wish I was eleven stone, I'm fifteen stone after having my babies and trying to drop abit of weight. Bit depressing that eleven stone is deemed a shocking weight to be
Why be like that about it. It is just nasty and diminishes the Op's feelings. Just because you are 15 stone does not mean that anyone that weighs less than that can't be unhappy or shocked at their weight gain. A 15 stone woman at 5 foot 11 would be overweight. An 11 stone woman at 5 foot or under would be obese so quite rightly may feel more worried. The OP is somewhere between the two examples I have given but that does not make her feelings any less valid. This race to the bottom that people like you keep trying to force is horrible.
EnolanotAlone · 02/01/2021 13:39

You have experienced a lot of extra personal trauma and anxiety this year. Big hugs 🤗 it is tough. Be kind to yourself and use today as a step forward back to your former self that you feel better about. Take a day at a time or set mini achievable goals. IVF and drugs all take their toll. Keep your eye on the prize and lol after your future self. 💐

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 13:42

I am going to get tracked down and punched for this, but going by my own feelings about my Fat me... I think lots of the shitty "just 11 i am x" style comments are simply bitterness coming from wishing the person did something when they were 2 stone overweight too... I know I do. But I am not being a bitch about it to people who won't let it slide to morbid obesity.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 02/01/2021 13:43

Wow incredible that people will bash the OP because she’s at a weight they’d be only too happy to be at Sad
I’ve been 9st a long time ago and am now nearer 12. Yes, 11 would be better but if still rather be nearer 10 (9’s probably a ship that’s sailed for me now.Confused)
Everyone’s fighting their own personal stuff - and it’s really unkind to dismiss someone’s COMPLETELY VALID feelings.

Good luck, OP Flowers

AndcalloffChristmas · 02/01/2021 13:45

I’m very similar. Also creeping into size 14 territory which is the threshold (for my height anyway - 5’6”) of not really being a healthy weight.

Also doing some alcohol free time and will be looking at my diet. Plus more exercise - I’ve done C25k which was great for getting me moving but hasn’t affected my weight!

DanceWithYourBalloon · 02/01/2021 13:49

Same here @AvonCallingBarksdale! I'm 5ft 6 and nearly 11 st but I've always been very slightly built and this extra weight (babies & pies) looks horrendous on me and none of my size 10 clothes fit well anymore! I'd be happier around the 9st and a bit mark.

I plan on joining the daily family dog walk, starting couch to 5K and not snacking between meals. That to me is a healthy way for myself to tackle it and not deprive myself at the same time.

Weight is very personal to every person and every build so I really don't think people who are heavier should chastise OP.

AndcalloffChristmas · 02/01/2021 13:51

Also a size 14 on the way down looks a lot better than a size 14 on the way up!

BunnyBoilerRhian · 02/01/2021 13:52

I'm 5ft 1 and weigh 11st 7lb.
Size 12 to 14. I'm on my way back down weight wise again. I tried a few other diet/healthy eating plans and gained 2 stone. You just need to find what works for you. What works for others may not for you. Story of my life.
I'm calorie counting and limit myself to around 750 calories a day and a 1000 at weekends and it's the only method that works for me. I also walk 5 miles a day absolute minimum. I never get below 10st 2lbs but I'm a good size 10 then so I'm happy despite the BMI charts telling me I'm a fat Bastard.

Of course they are and I agree.

I am absolutely shocked that in this time of a national pandemic when being overweight is a known risk factor for hospital admission with covid that anyone would be denigrating or criticising the OP for wanting to get down to a healthy weight. Isnt it sensible to lose the extra weight when there is a virus around that makes being overweight a known health risk? (let alone the many non- covid, chronic illnesses that are made worse by being overweight- eg blood pressure, arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, cancer etc)

Or, should we all just say fck it - lets risk getting ill with those things because we daren't upset someone on the internet who has an issue with their own weight? 🙄

Bubblemonkey · 02/01/2021 13:55

I’d give a functional organ to be 11st Hmm

MimiLaRue · 02/01/2021 13:55

@Bubblemonkey

And others would give a functional organ to be your weight. So, whats your point?
Fr0thandBubble · 02/01/2021 13:57

Jeez, some of the comments on here show exactly why we have an obesity crisis in this country. As a woman, you have to be really quite tall for 11 stone to be an ideal weight. I am 5’ 9” and weigh significantly less than that.

Why do you have to be morbidly obese before it’s acceptable to complain about your weight? Being overweight has gone from being a bad thing (which it absolutely is), to being acceptable, to being the norm, and that’s a really bad thing for the health of the individual, for society and for the environment.

Well done OP for recognising you need to lose weight and asking for help in doing so.

MrsMiaWallis · 02/01/2021 13:58

Being 2 stone overweight wouldn't normally take you into the morbidly obese category!

Grin And don’t you feel better for telling all us fatties just how disgusting we are. Slow hand clap for you.

The point being made is that morbidly obese people would have been 2 stone overweight at some point.

The OP is determined to do something about it now.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/01/2021 14:01

And good for her I say.
One tip. Put mirror somewhere you pass so you don't end up swimming in a lake of denial🙈

CrotchBurn · 02/01/2021 14:02

@MimiLaRue
I'm not shocked it's the fattest country in Europe and people have completely warped perceptions of weight and dint even realise it. All the posters who looked "gaunt", "ill", "unwell" at size 10... No you didnt, at a present day size 10 you looked completely normal. I once saw someone on here claim they were much better at size 16 because at a size 10 "you could see my collar bones". Well yes - like a normal person of a healthy weight.

tisonlymeagain · 02/01/2021 14:03

It just goes to show how very different we all are and what works for one, doesn't necessarily work for someone else. I am around 5ft 1 and currently weight 9st 13lb and I am nowhere near a 10. I'm probably just scraping into a 14 on a good day!! I need to lose at least another stone to be comfortably in 10.
