I feel January the 1st is when Christmas ends for and when I take my decorations down.

Why the fuck would you get rid of Christmas pretty fairy light early this year 😂
Because winter can still be enjoyed, candles, lights and all- just don;t want bits of christmas around after the event.

FestiveFruitloop · 01/01/2021 13:37

Technically 6th Jan, but I'm usually still not ready to part with the decs then. I suffer from depression/SAD and the lights seem to help a lot, as does the general festivity of Christmas.

The cut tree in our conservatory will stay until it's dropping too many needles, and so far it's holding up fine. Seriously considering leaving the artificial tree in our living room up till Candlemas.

crimsonlake · 01/01/2021 13:47

12th night here and since mine only went up on the 21st it is still looking very fresh. My son's who came home for Christmas have left but I still follow tradition and it makes me happy to keep Christmas for as long as possible.

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/01/2021 15:17

Tomorrow everything but the tree will be put away. Tree on 12th night.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 01/01/2021 15:22

Yep, tree has been put away. I always like having the fairylights on during NYE then back to normality from the 1st - maybe 2nd

lollipoprainbow · 01/01/2021 15:23

I usually take the decs down by 12th night but as my real tree is still looking lovely and it's such a depressing month/time I'm tempted to keep it until mid January! I'm superstitious though.

Itsjustsoconfusing · 01/01/2021 15:32

Monday, when I'm back at work.
Although I am taking the decs down on Sunday

DressingGownofDoom · 01/01/2021 15:38

Ill probably take the tree down tonight. The parties over and It's all very depressing.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 01/01/2021 15:55

I took my decs down today and it feels great. A new year clear out of cards and clutter, the house feels so spacious and fresh. I'm keeping some white lights up in the conservatory for cheerfulness in the dark winter months.

Calabasa · 01/01/2021 16:00

it'll be over the weekend/monday most likely... we have the down before the end of 12 night.

I'm a little sad for the people that pull them down on boxing day, it wouldn't be New Year for us without the tree, lights...etc up.

But then we dont put them up until about the 15th december.. so they're only up for 3 weeks before they come down.

Popcornriver · 01/01/2021 19:09

Agree with the poster who said this is the first year they didn't want them down. I'm usually fed up of them by now and want to do a huge clean but it's the first year I've wanted to drag it out longer. The days around Christmas have been such a welcome break from an awful year. I've compromised and left up some nice fairy lights.

DahliaMacNamara · 01/01/2021 19:19

I would happily leave them up until the 6th, but DH will be doing it, so it's up to him. He might want it sorted before he goes back to work on Monday. DD and I both have lights that were bought for Christmas but get used year-round, so there's always a tiny twinkle left in a corner somewhere in our house. As for the sense of it being Christmas, that ends for me when I go to bed on Christmas Day.

museumum · 01/01/2021 19:23

I never take anything down till 6th. We’re in Scotland so double bank holiday on 1st/2nd which if that sat/sun can be as late as the 3rd/4th. New Year’s Day is for celebrating here, not taking decs down and cleaning!
Also NEVER start a diet or giving up anything on 1st either as it’s still feasting celebration time.

1Morewineplease · 01/01/2021 19:26

Always the 6th but might leave some lights up this year.

blowinahoolie · 01/01/2021 19:27

Not set day every year, just depends what is going on in our lives. With small DC around, it's been easier taking tree down on Boxing Day last few years. Next year may leave it up longer.

Gufo · 01/01/2021 19:29

1 Jan, will take tree down tomorrow ready for back to work (and school, hopefully!)

SpikySara · 01/01/2021 19:32

Tonight is the end of Xmas. I have a nice roast dinner and dessert on NY Day then the annual diet starts on the 2nd 😩

2Rebecca · 01/01/2021 19:33

12th night or nearest day to it when I have time to take down decs. Jan 2nd a hol for many here in Scotland so the 3rd is earliest end of xmas

2Rebecca · 01/01/2021 19:35

Agree today is champagne and pie day in Scotland. Normally dinner on 1st Jan would be extended family and crackers and games. Quieter this year but still pie and champagne

Megan2018 · 01/01/2021 19:35

6 Jan here

SilverStarburst · 01/01/2021 19:38

Yes!! Decs down and house cleaned today. Love them going up but love having house back to normal.

Horriblyjealous · 01/01/2021 19:40

When I go back to work. Sad times.

RuthW · 01/01/2021 19:48

Starts 1/12 and ends 27/12 for me.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/01/2021 19:54

Shallow07 · 01/01/2021 19:59

Thank you @Tellmelies65 Smile it'll be very different to what I originally had planned but we can be together and have cake at home and that's what really matters right now
