I feel January the 1st is when Christmas ends for and when I take my decorations down.

OP posts:
Nat6999 · 31/12/2020 21:22

00:01Boxing day when I think thank god I have survived another one.

Figgygal · 31/12/2020 21:24

27th
Been itching to go into new year without a tree up but decided to leave it for the kids who still want to watch Christmas chronicles 2 every day

Coasterfan · 31/12/2020 21:24

Probably Sunday. We are usually away til 2nd so we then have at least one last night with the lights on before the kids go back to school. Makes me sad every year although this Christmas has not been especially festive.

itbemay1 · 31/12/2020 21:25

Same OP, tree coming down tomorrow and all trace of Xmas will be gone!

cushioncovers · 31/12/2020 21:30

Tomorrow

DanielRicciardosSmile · 31/12/2020 21:54

Twelfth Night is 5th January, not 6th as some PP think.

tttigress · 31/12/2020 21:56

1st Jan, as that is when I have to stop eating, and start concentrating on my new years resolutions.

Quizmas · 31/12/2020 21:57

5th Jan officially for us, although I am ready from 2nd...

Catlover77 · 01/01/2021 01:24

Decorations up a week before Christmas and down on 5th Jan

Franticbutterfly · 01/01/2021 01:39

Usually the 6th Jan, but the tree has been in the house since the 30th and it's looking crispy! So maybe it'll come down on Saturday.

HelloDaisy · 01/01/2021 01:41

1st January for us. I have had enough of all the decorations by then!

Gooseysgirl · 01/01/2021 02:04

6th Jan, but I usually start taking down some decorations before then

Gooseysgirl · 01/01/2021 02:05

6th for religious reasons (Epiphany)

Tavannach · 01/01/2021 02:17

5 January decorations come down, or early on the 6th. In a normal year we would see a lot of extended family in the week between Christmas and New Year, and some catch-ups after New Year. Not this year obvs but the decorations will stay up. The Twelve Days of Christmas start on the 25th or the 26th so it seems kind of silly to take the decorations down before especially with New Year celebrations as well. Normally.

Nordman · 01/01/2021 02:55

My Christmas decorations go up a few days before Christmas Day and stay up most of January, looks like I'm the minority here Smile The lights and wintery (rather than Christmas specific) decorations are out for a few months, I love having extra lights up all through the winter.

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 01/01/2021 05:19

New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day depending what’s going on. I took them down yesterday because I was bored and ready to move on. I love the run up to Christmas (usually—not so much this year) so I put them up by December 1 to get the full month. This year I’m just ready to get on with it.

LadyJaye · 01/01/2021 05:49

Scottish here, so 2 Jan is a Bank Holiday.

Decs are normally down 3/4, whatever I can be bothered with. 3 Jan is a Sunday this year, 4 Jan the follow-on BH, so probably Sunday, to allow Monday to be more relaxed and 'back in the zone'.

LadyJaye · 01/01/2021 05:54

Tree doesn't go up until the weekend before Christmas, but TBH I'm kind of done by early Jan and just want to crack on.

If you follow Yuletide, 12 days is done by 04/01 anyway. Wink

BadLad · 01/01/2021 05:57

January 2nd. I'm too hangover to put things away on the first.

Jocasta2018 · 01/01/2021 06:25

Twelfth Night - the decorations didn't go up until 22nd Dec!

Seafog · 01/01/2021 06:26

6th of Jan

Pinkfreesias · 01/01/2021 06:31

New Year's Day for us. My husband will be taking the trees down today and packing everything away for another 11 months.

DappledThings · 01/01/2021 08:48

Twelfth Night. Anyone taking decorations down before that is doing it early. Which is fine if you want to, but it is early.

NellePorter · 01/01/2021 09:07

New Year's Day will be our last day of "celebrating", will finish off the festive food and drink over the weekend, and take the decorations down on Sunday ready for back to school/work on Monday 4th Sad

TryingnottobeWaynettaSlob · 01/01/2021 09:37

Always take mine down on Epiphany!
