I feel January the 1st is when Christmas ends for and when I take my decorations down.

9th January, because DH's birthday is the 8th, so we extend the holiday by a week :) It's all good!

Runnerduck34 · 31/12/2020 18:47

Traditionally its 6th January but as we are all back at work and school by then for us it ends on 2nd Jan and I will take down decs this weekend.

^^ agree with you
maddiemookins16mum · 31/12/2020 18:52

Tree came down today. I was back at work too. Just want to chill this weekend before it all starts again on Monday.

notinthiseconomy · 31/12/2020 18:53

Always before new year. I like to start the new year fresh.

Colouringaddict · 31/12/2020 18:53

Our decorations always come down on the 1st, so the house is straight for DH going back to work.

I never leave it until the 6th, mainly because that is the anniversary of my mum dying, and we left the hospital and my DDad insisted on the tree coming down because it was bad luck to leave it up (how unlucky did he think we had already been?)

I did toy with leaving it up longer this year in the hope we would be able to see our DGC but we are tier 4 so that won’t be happening now.

makingmyway10 · 31/12/2020 18:53

We have a lovely big roast dinner with all the trimmings on New Years Day. The tree is up, candles are lit and we enjoy the last day of the Christmas season . We drink champagne , go on a lovely long walk ,play board games and watch a movie. Then on the 2nd it all comes down.

3orangekissesfromkazan · 31/12/2020 18:54

Thinking we will take ours down either tomorrow or the 2nd.

Tree is looking very crispy and I always know it's time to go when the baubles start falling off by themselves Grin

elp30 · 31/12/2020 18:55

Christmas is over for me, mentally, on January 1st but I won't take down my decorations until January 6th Smile

Flaxmeadow · 31/12/2020 18:57

Twelfth Night which would be the 6th of January, but I sometimes keep decorations up longer because the darker days of mid winter can be a bit disheartening

I find the fashion now for breaking Christmas traditions, taking down the tree etc before the 6th, quite sad

PrincessBuggerPants · 31/12/2020 18:58

6 Jan. I can't stand the rush to get them up as early as poss, and then down before Christmas has really finished.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 31/12/2020 18:59

Not until the 6th st the earliest. I LOVE my 🎄 & the lights. The cards are in a string, each one reminding me of a someone, some haven't even arrived yet! It's cosy in here & it's staying that way!!

Part of me does get the urge to get it all out away & have a good clean, but there's the rest of the year for that!

Pringlespop · 31/12/2020 18:59

Sunday, work Monday 😩

kowari · 31/12/2020 19:01

Ours will be up until school goes back as usual. Keyworker provision and online learning doesn't count.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 31/12/2020 19:03

When DH starts work again - this year 4th Jan. I think the tree will come down on Sunday.

Nocaloriesinchocolate · 31/12/2020 19:04

For me Christmas is bookended by two musical events - the Kngs College Nine Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve and the Vienna New Years Day concert. So, tomorrow morning

InFiveMins · 31/12/2020 19:05

I LOVE Christmas but I just can't bear the decorations being up into the New Year. I take mine down on 27th/28th Dec (I don't have kids so don't feel too guilty). My mum used to keep them up til about 6th January and I hated it - I just feel the magic of Christmas is finished pretty much after Boxing Day Sad

newyeary · 31/12/2020 19:07

Jan 2nd. We like New Year's Day to be a celebratory day as it's a bank holiday. We have a nice walk, big lunch and watch a family film and finish off any nice food with all the lights. 2nd will be getting everything down and having a good clean and getting ready for back to work / school.

Linnet · 31/12/2020 19:11

12th night, so January 6th.

AdaColeman · 31/12/2020 19:14

Here Christmas ends on the Epiphany (January 6th).

I like that the celebrations go on well into January, as I feel that helps to break up an otherwise very long dreary month.

frumpety · 31/12/2020 19:15

6th of January when the tree comes down here.

sausageathlete · 31/12/2020 19:17

Today, the tree is down and that's it for another year.

Stripyhoglets1 · 31/12/2020 19:17

12th night. I'm leaving some lights up this year though to lighten up the January days

WunWun · 31/12/2020 19:18

Boxing Day is the last day it feels like Christmas to me. I'm not talking the decorations down until Saturday though when my ex gets the boxes out of the loft for me.

NameChange84 · 31/12/2020 19:18

The Feast of The Epiphany on the 6th January when the Three Kings visit the infant Jesus.
