To ask when Christmas ends for you

I feel January the 1st is when Christmas ends for and when I take my decorations down.

Day after tomorrow. I like a chill-out on New Year's Day. May push this into the weekend.

Holothane · 31/12/2020 18:15

Everything down Christmas has ended for us.

SpineyCrevice · 31/12/2020 18:17

Epiphany. Twelfth night.

EileenGC · 31/12/2020 18:19

6th January

Star1402 · 31/12/2020 18:20

I was wondering the same. As a child christmas felt different (I guess Christmas is more magical for children) but it felt like Christmas really lasted after Christmas, shops seemed to shut for days. Now after Boxing Day it seems like everyone thinks Christmas is over.

Tend to take the decs down after New Years. Probably do it Saturday this year or maybe Sunday before my DC go back to school.

I feel so sad it’s ending already 😭

Allispretty · 31/12/2020 18:21

I normally string it out as I get huge Christmas blues, this year I can't be bothered with it and just can't wait to get on with the new year! Tree came down 27th

BrownOwlknowsbest · 31/12/2020 18:25

Well I'm going against the grain here, because I am going to take ours down around 12th January. You see, I have friends in Ethiopia and they have a different calendar over there, which means their Christmas Day is our 6th January. Although we can't meet up, I like to celebrate with them for a few days.

BackforGood · 31/12/2020 18:25

12th night, or sometimes used to be when term started, so all away in time for them to go back to school.

RandomUsernameHere · 31/12/2020 18:25

1st January. Tree coming down tomorrow and everything will be packed away. I'd prefer to take it all down sooner but the DC like having the tree up. I know it's not very traditional to put it up early and take it down early, but for me it's all about the excitement of the run up to Christmas and Christmas Day itself. I don't like all the clutter sitting around after the event has passed.

TreacleHart · 31/12/2020 18:25

Christmas ends day after boxing day. Next celebration new years eve / nyd. All done.

DrCoconut · 31/12/2020 18:26

6th January. Sometimes been known to not get round to it until 7th. We always have the tree up for 3 kings day.

Cam2020 · 31/12/2020 18:28

1st Jan too. I like to start the new year clutter free....well, apart from the millions of new toys that need homes!

ShoesJerry · 31/12/2020 18:29

Most down 6th Jan, but this year I'll leave some up until Candlemas (2nd Feb). Just the snowflake window stickers to add a bit of cheer.

WhatAreWordsWorth · 31/12/2020 18:30

I stop feeling festive on Boxing Day, but I class the Christmas ‘season’ as lasting until 1st Jan in our house.

Rockbird · 31/12/2020 18:31

Usually today but I couldn't be arsed. 1st Jan at the latest. Christmas is my favourite time of year but I hate the decs up after new year. Also this Christmas has been utter shite.

Lights outside will stay up for a bit as I love fairy lights.

Mydogmylife · 31/12/2020 18:31

In normal times, decs down on 12 th night. Stay up over new year for the usual Hogmanay parties . Obvs all different this year

FenEel · 31/12/2020 18:33

Twelfth Night.

justanotherneighinparadise · 31/12/2020 18:35

Tomorrow! Decorations are already down.

RaspberryCoulis · 31/12/2020 18:36

I'm doing well having left the tree up this long. Usually down around the 28th. It will be down tomorrow and I'll be glad to see the back of it.

New Year, new start, clear away the detritus of Christmas. 6th January might be traditional in some houses but also seems ridiculously late.

daisypond · 31/12/2020 18:36

6th January. Sometimes a bit later.

thegreylady · 31/12/2020 18:36

6th January but I will start on the second. By the 5th only the crib and menorah will be up.

TinkersRucksack · 31/12/2020 18:36

First weekend after New Year's Day. The tree is coming down on Sunday

ritzbiscuits · 31/12/2020 18:38

Christmas isn't over yet! We're still off and have NYD walk and curry planned.

Trees will come down 3rd/4th, ready for us back to work/school on 5th.

I'm keeping up our new fireplace garland during January so we still have some fairy lights to get us through the month!

daisypond · 31/12/2020 18:39

I still think 6th is a bit early for them to come down - they haven’t been up even for two weeks - and we tend to leave them up until DH’s birthday later in that week, as he hates it when the house is boring and normal for his birthday.

stargirl1701 · 31/12/2020 18:39

Twelfth Night is the end of Christmas here. Tree down and back to school. I cannot imagine Hogmanay and Ne-'erday without the tree!

We do keep the crib scene up until Candlemas in Feb.
