As long as it wasn't as DH was going out to work at 5am-7am (as I would need to take 2 tired kids with me) but I could do any time at all other than that but would find a way I'm sure as DH is with an understanding company.

Agree with PP as I would prefer day-time appointments for those who need them. Even my mum who has Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (and is in line for her jab in March) struggles with sleep on her medication would say the same thing tbh. But we are a night owl bunch!

megletthesecond · 31/12/2020 09:01

No. Another lone parent. I wouldn't be safe to drive at that time. Unless my kids could be drugged to sleep from 7pm.

ofwarren · 31/12/2020 09:03

Yes definitely, I would go at any time of day or night.

hazelnutlatte · 31/12/2020 09:04

I would have no problem getting a 2am vaccine but this is really not going to happen- there is already a shortage of clinical staff, at my workplace everyone who is delivering the vaccine is doing so as overtime, we absolutely do not have the staff available to provide a 24 hour service! Who are all of these people who are going to be delivering vaccines at 2am? The NHS is overstretched already. I suppose we could recruit non clinical staff who have been furlouged etc but it would take a long time to train them to do it safely. Unless the government has spent the past few months getting the military ready to do this (unlikely) then there will not be 24/7 vaccines.

knittingaddict · 31/12/2020 09:06

Yes, I would.

I live about a 2 minute walk from my gp surgery, so it's easy for me, but I would do it if it involved a an hour or more in the car too.

DHdweller · 31/12/2020 09:07

Yes any time day or night

52andblue · 31/12/2020 09:08

Yes if I could possibly do so (single parent to two ASD kids, so tricky..)

It seems most of us would if there was any way we could and many of us have said they'd take an inconvenient time to free up daytime spaces for people like me (whose kids might be in school daytimes).
Thank you for that, it is much appreciated Flowers

TipsieM · 31/12/2020 09:08

No.

OWswimmer · 31/12/2020 09:09

Yes

oohyoudevilyou · 31/12/2020 09:09

Yes, assuming location felt safe for me to go alone in the dark.

AradiaGC · 31/12/2020 09:10

No. I don't drive and I wouldn't feel safe walking there in the middle of the night.

Plussizejumpsuit · 31/12/2020 09:10

Yep 100%

yellowhighheels · 31/12/2020 09:12

Yep if I could get there by public transport. It wouldn't be ideal for me as I don't drive or cycle (medical reason) but I wouldn't mind as long as it was a reasonable distance. I'd be happy to (in principle) leave a daytime appointment for someone who would find it harder to travel at night.

GreenlandTheMovie · 31/12/2020 09:12

Why on earth not? But according to the government website, I'm not likely to be vaccinated before August 2022, I'll have plenty of time to prepare for this slightly late night!

Disfordarkchocolate · 31/12/2020 09:14

My medication makes me too drowsy for that. I'd be a yes if it wasn't for that though.

ThatBitch · 31/12/2020 09:17

I would. If dh and I could have different late night appointments. Tbh I'd even take the dc and leave them in the car, swapping over for the next parent to get theirs.

Using the calculator dh and I may be in the summer time. The quicker it can happen the better for us.

Mummaminnie · 31/12/2020 09:18

I would absolutely take a late night appointment especially if it opened up daytime appointments for those who are unable to.

Mummaminnie · 31/12/2020 09:19

However, I doubt they’ll get enough vaccinators for this to happen.

mindutopia · 31/12/2020 09:20

Yes, absolutely. Sign me up.

NeurologicallySpeaking · 31/12/2020 09:20

Yes definitely

Topseyt · 31/12/2020 09:23

@BumbleBeegu

Those saying 'no because I don't drive'...you have heard of taxis, right?? Ffs!! You ought to be willing to climb fucking mountains in bare feet to get this vaccine and get us out of this mess!! Jesus!!
What a bloody ignorant comment!! I presume you are speaking from the privileged position of someone who has plenty of money to pay for taxis and really can't understand that there are people who don't. They are very expensive round here.

Round here you could end up with an appointment 30 - 40 miles away unless the local GP surgery is doing the vaccines (I think they will, hope so), with limited or zero public transport.

I've said I would go at any time. I do drive. I'd be greatly reluctant in the middle of the night though as my night vision has never been great and I would push as hard as I could for a daytime appointment.

If my GP surgery does the vaccines though then it will be fine either way as it is just 5 minutes walk.

Immrswhistledown · 31/12/2020 09:23

Yes

CandidaAlbicans2 · 31/12/2020 09:28

I have no problem with doing it any time night or day, if I was ever going to get it done. Thing is - no bloody way am I letting them put a rushed, untested vaccine into my body. Not going to happen.
@PuddyMuddles4, I appreciate that on the face of it it seems rushed but a vaccine for this type of virus (corona) has actually been worked on for many years, so scientists had a head start. So they already had a “template” and when they had the C-19 DNA they simply had to finish it. Plus most of the time it takes to get vaccines from trial to vaccination programmes is administration, such as grant applications, which can mean years of thumb twiddling. The paperwork part was the only part that was fast tracked, the safety testing was exactly the same. Fear not.
this explains the process.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 31/12/2020 09:29

Those saying 'no because I don't drive'...you have heard of taxis, right?? Ffs!!

Erm @BumbleBeegu, there are many areas of England and Wales (that I know of) that simply have no public transport or taxi service. I was shocked when I visited these places, where people are completely cut off if they don’t drive.

TonMoulin · 31/12/2020 09:34

Nope I wouldn’t and I’m very happy to see so many people would happily take a 2.00am appointment. Please take them as a priority.

And before anyone judges, I wouldn’t because I have ME/CFS and it would take me days to recover from a night like that, wo the effect of the vaccine that includes tiredness....
