To have found Harry&Meghans NY podcast quite uplifting

(And it was v cute to hear Archie speaking also)

Just that really. Yes there was some cheesy bits with some speaker talk of “nourishment” (cringe) by reading children’s books, but most of it was good and positive. Nice mix of contributors. Well done Harry & Meghan.

Shame theres no vote enabled.i imagine the ratio would have been something.

And yes, YABVU

@SantasAnus

Wow. What vitriol!! I can understand people not taking to them for whatever reason, but the bitterness is astounding.
Suggest you look up ‘vitriol’ in the dictionary. And then look up ‘hyperbolic’, you’ll find it describes your post to a tee.
froggywentacarolling · 30/12/2020 20:17

Why are the haters so obsessed with her? It's honestly scary how much time some of you spend fixating on Meghan and trying to scour the Internet for scraps of information with which to attack her.

I had no idea she had a podcast until seeing this thread, and certainly have no intention of listening, and I actually quite like her.

Listening to a podcast hosted by someone you despise is a very odd way to spend your time.

StartupRepair · 30/12/2020 20:24

They had advisors when in the UK and found them stultifying and oppressive. They have now Found Freedom.

HotChoc10 · 30/12/2020 20:29

I respect them for leaving the RF to do their own thing but don't understand why they're continuing to use their Duke/Duchess titles.

sst1234 · 30/12/2020 20:36

It wouldn’t be so bad, if they actually had an ounce of talent. Even reality tv stars have something, noticeably vacuous personalities. In the case of these two, nothing, nothing at all. Honestly, they wouldn’t be able to get a local weekend radio gig, if it off the back of anything they could do.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 30/12/2020 20:38

froggy
I keep hoping they will redeem themselves so I put it on while doing a spot of housework.

But if you think it is hate or obsession you are mistaken. And even more mistaken that the comments are all about meghan.

I’d hoped they were going to be a breath of fresh air and even when they found their freedom, I’d hoped they’d do some good with their connections.

I for one think it was all a bit dull and looking at struggle from a very privileged and non struggly position.

And the hypocrisy about wanting privacy and freedom grates when they trade it for money.

FutureDuchessofHastings · 30/12/2020 20:39

They have become such an embarrassment. It's just a constant rehash of, 'we hear your voice/we will help you use your voice/your voices will be heard', and, 'be the change you want to be in the world', and some such guff. It's just a relentless stream of utter meaningless nonsense. They believe that they are more relevant, important and influential than they actually are. They are an utterly dull and tedious pair who have absolutely nothing new, original, inspirational or even interesting to say. They have no idea how tone deaf they come across. They absolutely reek of fake and hypocrisy.

DecemberDiana · 30/12/2020 20:41

I fully support their quest to become private citizens away from all intrusive attention.

Why are people who are critical of H and M called haters ?
Are people who don’t like Andrew called haters ?

NoToMisogyny · 30/12/2020 20:51

I just don’t get why we’re supposed to give a fuck what either of them says or thinks?

trixiebelden77 · 30/12/2020 20:54

I’ve been interested to see people use the term ‘word salad’ on this and other posts. It’s a term the daily Mail used about them.

It’s also a psychiatric term but as people are using it so incorrectly they must have lifted it from the Daily Mail.

Fascinating to see how a clearly derogatory term about someone makes it into people’s normal vocabulary if given enough traction by a fundamentally mean spirited nasty little rag.

Confusedashell12 · 30/12/2020 20:59

They flicked two fingers up to the country this time last year, in what came across as massive bitterness on their part. Why should we not feel the same back towards them?

Did they really? Confused

@SunscreenCentral
M uses the term word salad .

Oldbutstillgotit · 30/12/2020 21:03

Apologies that was for @ trixiebelden77

Sloth66 · 30/12/2020 21:22

Any mystique has gone now they are no longer Royal. Instead they are hugely wealthy, living in isolated luxury .
I have no interest whatsoever in what either has to say.

JaniceBattersby · 30/12/2020 21:24

I’ve seen word salad used very widely across lots of media and social media to refer to language that appears to use lots of conceptual language and seemingly interesting ideas, but when it comes down to it, it’s just a load of meaningless platitudes. I think it’s a great, descriptive phrase to use about this kind of fluffy rubbish.

Unfortunately I think interest in H&M will dwindle to nothing. They’re up against programmes like Ozark, The Crown, The Queen’s Gambit etc. Nobody has time to watch programmes focusing on their train of thought based in their own lofty reality. Unless they’re going to spill the beans, Diana style, who’s going to watch it?

It’s everywhere, as new phrases that hit the zeitgeist tend to be, and not in a psychiatric sense or context.

If you’re only seeing it in the Daily Mail, then you’re reading too much DM and not reading widely enough.

Pancakeorcrepe · 30/12/2020 21:31

They are so embarassing! The hypocrisy is just too much

Dongdingdong · 30/12/2020 23:25

Everyone involved (including “fans”) really needs to reflect on what hysterical over interest does to a child.

Not sure about this... I don’t think you can really blame the fans if the parents actively take the decision to put their child out there into the public arena.

thebabessavedme · 30/12/2020 23:37

@DecemberDiana , I agree Grin

SunscreenCentral · 30/12/2020 23:44

Archie said “happy new year” at the end for those who didn’t make it all the way through... he has a British accent rather than American.

sorry folks, missed the replies as I was food-shopping/cooking etc
I think it’s all pretty harmless stuff really and I’ve never gotten why H&M get it in the neck.

Well, I do, but I don’t know that they deserve it to the extent that it happens.
I liked the bit from Elton and the London spoken-word poet.

Isn’t it a bit weird that even the people who listened to it can’t describe what was in it?

CallmeAngelGabriel · 31/12/2020 00:14

As I said before, I have no intention of listening to it.

I saw one or two things they posted previously. Didn't have the first idea what they were talking about.
