They are just wellies after all 🤷🏼‍♀️

I got an ok pair in millets about ten years ago. Didnt pay more than £20. Still going but I dont wear them a lot.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 27/12/2020 12:57

Haven’t ritft, but I need ones to accommodate my fat calves. Dh was intending to get me joules ones with our dog breed on, happy he didn’t as everyone says how crap they are.

MrsExpo · 27/12/2020 13:00

Mine are Ariats and cost £120.00. Worth every penny as I just about live in them over the winter (horses and dogs to care for). Tried cheaper ones and they just don't cut it.

whyarentiskinnyet · 27/12/2020 13:07

I just bought fleece lined Dunlop wellies from Amazon for £40 - they are so warm and comfortable.

MrsMiaWallis I love mine too, sounds like they’ve gone the same way as other brands which used to be excellent and then the quality changes. I opted for Aigle instead of Le Chameau, sounds like when I do need to replace a simple ordering of another pair may not be so good if they’re now prone to splitting

SaltyAF · 27/12/2020 13:18

Farming families wear Dunlops.

Missingyoupapum · 27/12/2020 13:21

Dunlop - mine lasted about 4 years before splitting. Have hunters which I much peeper now but they are obviously £££

LouMoo13 · 27/12/2020 13:23

Briers Wellies from my local garden centre for about £15, I've walked miles in them so super comfy and as a horsey person they get a lot of punishment. Lasted ages...

MrsMiaWallis · 27/12/2020 13:26

whyarentiskinnyet

Just bought those! Thanks

Didyousaynutella · 27/12/2020 13:28

What about snowboots op? You can get them. Reasonable cheap from mountain warehouse etc. just got a loads for my kids.
I md I didn’t have my £££ country boots I would have got some for myself.

BluebellsGreenbells · 27/12/2020 13:30

Mine are Muck boots - really warm and comfortable.

£25 in the sale a few years ago.

WarmHeyerette · 27/12/2020 13:34

I got Fitflop WonderWellys this year and they’re really comfy and supportive, not like usual wellies. It has really encouraged me to walk more. They come in two lengths which helps with the wider calves thing (I have the shorter ones, slightly taller than ankle height). Can’t say yet how long lasting they are! Not cheap but they usually do an NHS discount, if you’re eligible.

LolaSmiles · 27/12/2020 13:35

It depends what you're doing in them surely.

I like to wear mine walking the dogs for a few hours on different terrain so need them to fit nicely like shoes. My MuckBoots are ideal for this. If I wanted pair of wellies to take DC to the park or play in the snow then MuckBoots were probably the wrong choice.

I think about cost per wear and also I'm trying to buy once and buy better.

HeyMister · 27/12/2020 13:38

I bought Hunters £59.99 on M&M Direct. They are rubber. I've had cheap horrible plastic ones in the past that have hurt my feet. Not worth it. Hunter/Barbour boots last years!

ohsuzannah · 27/12/2020 13:40

I'm have the Joules ones and love them!
Also there's a sale on at the moment !

ohsuzannah · 27/12/2020 13:41

Aaargh, sorry about the link, but just search in Joules!

DreadingSeason2020sFinale · 27/12/2020 13:46

My hubby got a £160 pair reduced to about £90 and still wears them today. He bought them about 10 years ago.

I have cheapo wellies because I don't wear them often (just on a hour or two clearing snow etc a few days a year)

Mine are uncomfortable and won't last long before they're cracking or leaking. DH's are really comfy and keep him cosy and dry and will probably do so for many years to come.

DreadingSeason2020sFinale · 27/12/2020 13:50

@Cheesefootballfan

I second not getting Joules ones! They split within a year of purchase. Shame as they're so pretty. I like other Joules stuff, but they're a let down in the welly department!
Agree with this.

I've always bought my daughters Joules ones and found the pretty much just decorative buckles don't last the winter season, by the next year they have a hidden leak and the outside is peeling off like an old sunburn.

Pretty but not functional.

MrsDonnelly · 27/12/2020 13:59

I’m currently on a £10 pair of Dunlops after giving up on Hunter and Joules, both of which seem to split very quickly

IrishMamaMia · 27/12/2020 14:03

Recently bought Peter Storm boots for £20 . Cheap and cheerful rubbers ones, quite comfortable and grippy. I wear with warm socks underneath. I wear for walks in the woods and when it's raining, so far so good :)

CaptainMorgansMistress · 27/12/2020 14:14

@Letseatgrandma

I’m usually a 3.5-4 and the kids 4s fit perfectly. I don’t wear them with thick socks as they’re warm enough for me without and they’re comfy. They were a teeny bit tight on the little toes for the first couple of wears but perfect after that.

The kids boots don’t have adjustable calves but I’ve got pretty normal calves and they fit fine with a bit of extra space.

They come up lower than the adult boots - which suits me as I’m short but you might want to check the height (it says somewhere on the site) and measure against your leg

WitchQueenofDarkness · 27/12/2020 14:26

Love my muck boots. I walk miles in them each day and I’ve had them years now. Still going strong

BigWoollyJumpers · 27/12/2020 15:47

Hunters used to be great, when they were made in UK, then they got bought and manufacture move to China (?), anyway, my last couple of pairs only lasted a year, so rubbish. Then invested in Aigle Neoprene, and they have been amazing. I am on my 5th year, and the most important thing is that they are comfortable to walk in, watertight, and have good grippy soles for yomping across fields. Very happy I invested.

MaudHatter · 27/12/2020 15:55

Dunlop wellies will last years . But some lovely welly socks for them

MaudHatter · 27/12/2020 15:58

My children have had Hunter , Joules , Boden , Aigle , Crocs and Dunlop .
The Dunlop ones have been the best . Joules are particularly crap .
