"Well at least you have a mother/dog/budgie/great aunt mine is dead and I'd give anything to have them here"

Yes we should all suck up the most awful behaviour from other people and be grateful for their mere existence as one day they will be dead
Someone says that they are in some way annoyed by someone else's behaviour
And
Every
Ducking
Time
"Well at least you have a father (even if he is a serial killer) mine is dead and I'd give anything to have them back"
Aaagghhhhh

I keep thinking of other ones! When someone is in an abusive relationship or generally having a horrible time and someone pipes up with:

"I just read this thread to my husband and he said (insert something that shows how wonderful he is)..."

The smug level is unreal.

They could just say "in healthy relationships, xyz is how the dynamic should work."

RadGlags · 26/12/2020 15:49

Did you mean to be so rude, OP?

@youvegottenminuteslynn

Oh god I forgot the worst one, even worse than tinkly laugh...

"Man here..."

You don't need to announce you have a penis. You really don't.

In fairness, it’s not infrequently obvious from the mansplaining, as, on a thread today, someone enlightened us that porn actresses are acting. Silly old us. We didn’t realise they were stunt cocks.
WorraLiberty · 26/12/2020 15:52

I was just going to say "Did you mean to be so rude?" is still literally the saddest and most vomit inducing comeback ever.

I can't believe some people still post it as a comeback suggestion.

TheIncredibleBookEatingManchot · 26/12/2020 15:53

Yeas, when someone posts AIBU to be upset my mum called me a fat ugly cow and someone replies "I would be delighted if my lovely mum was able to call me a fat ugly cow. She died ten years ago."

Completely missing the point that the OP really doesn't have a lovely mum, which is an entirely different problem than having a dead lovely mum.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/12/2020 15:54

Ah, the Misery olympics. Also well paired with the But Olympics.

"Aibu to think blue cheese is the best lol"
"YABU. Stop being insensitive some of us are gravely allergic to it!"

Butchyrestingface · 26/12/2020 15:56

"You sound like hard work".

It's sooooo overused. Even when it's manifestly true, is there any need for 235 posters to use the same phrase in the same thread??

Hobnobswantshernameback · 26/12/2020 15:56

You sound lovely.
I think you're getting a bit of a hard time.
I'm going to go against the grain here (then says the same thing everyone else has).

Cocolapew · 26/12/2020 16:03

Wow. Just wow.

💣

MrsToothyBitch · 26/12/2020 16:03

Yes to all of these.

Also people coming on a clearly fun thread to purposely piss on chips. So a thread called "fun things about 80s childhoods-" possibly even with a lighthearted disclaimer and people will remember clothes, toys, school stuff etc and someone will come along and detail how they suffered/had a bad childhood etc. I feel for them but it's like a child breaking a toy out of jealousy.

Also yes, my user name has bitch in. If I've said something you don't like on a thread telling me bitch by name bitch by nature doesn't make you clever. It makes you the bitch for getting personal and calling me a bitch. And a dumb, unoriginal bitch at that.

I quite like the head tilt ^^

Must be the reply LTB - occasionally justified, but when it's in response to he folded the tea towels the wrong way/didn't recycle the Christmas wrapping paper/answered a phone call or similar??!!

Redcrayons · 26/12/2020 16:06

I love a good ‘my DH has just bought a £1000 thing for his hobby new bike and now we can’t eat or pay the mortgage’
Oh take yourself off for a spa day and send him the invoice. Nothing fixes a whole in the finances like more debt.

LynetteScavo · 26/12/2020 16:10

Years ago someone posted for advice on her unsightly varicose veins and was told: "just be thankful you have two legs". Grin

Disfordarkchocolate · 26/12/2020 16:13

I hate this too. It always seems to get trotted out by people who seem to have treated like a general dogsbody by the person they now miss. I was a complete bloody matryr and you should be too, because it's family. Such rubbish.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 26/12/2020 16:13

Anything designed to shut some one or a discussion down.

and those that moan about nasty responses when they themselves have been nasty.

Emeraldshamrock · 26/12/2020 16:15

It depends on the post.
I never saw someone use it towards a poster who was a abused by a parent it is far from the worst comeback I've read here.
