Maybe people just don't post when things are going well, but the top 5 threads in my feed seem to be about a ruined Christmas, a fucked Christmas, a Christmas in tatters, someone who is fuming and someone else who didn't get to see her children open their stockings.

@santasmincepie that looks delicious!

@MrsXx4 congratulations!

having a nice day which is not too different from the norm as it is usually just us four anyway. DH in the kitchen cooking lunch, kids are building lego with polar express on in the background and I am relaxing.

Chloemol · 25/12/2020 12:39

Yes i am

plominoagain · 25/12/2020 12:40

Ours is very nice . Horses all set up for tonight , everybody very happy with their presents . DH now being taught how to use an Xbox ( we replaced DD’s , so she’s passed hers on to him so they can play Rainbow six together ) to sounds of much amusement.

LivingOnAnIsland · 25/12/2020 12:40

I'm sorry for those who aren't having the day they expected or deserved, but glad there are some nice things happening out there too. My dinner is almost ready, have left the kids to keep an eye on it while I have a quick shower.

Having a lovely day :) received great presents which people have clearly put thought into and are perfect for me. Off out for a walk in the sun later and then masses of food. DS has some great gifts and is very happy.

Procrastatron · 25/12/2020 12:45

Surprisingly yes. Have a nasty spreading foot infection and after an emergency GP appt my husband set off to get my emergency antibiotics. He’s currently sorting the nibbles for lunch and has checked that all the Christmas dinner ingredients will last until tomorrow. We didn’t do gifts this year but i don’t need them when I have this type of support.
Of course these are exceptional circumstances and he’ll be annoying me again as soon as I am better.

LH1987 · 25/12/2020 12:46

Having a great day, just me DH and 7 month old. I’ve got lovely, thoughtful gifts, had some delicious smoked salmon on soda bread toast for breakfast and I am currently having a nice glass of champagne and watching Home Alone while baby naps on me. I’m having a lovely time 😀

It’s nice to hear about all your lovely days too!

Lemonysherbet · 25/12/2020 12:48

It's my first one as a mum and my heart is full

FraggleShingleBellRock · 25/12/2020 12:49

I'm having a lovely day. My youngest is 12 then 17, 21 and 22 so we had a nice lazy start for the first time ever and I was awake before my kids! They were all happy with their presents so I did a quick trip to visit my little nephews and now the meat is in and I'm having some champagne. All very laid back, chilled and despite being nervous about my kids growing up I'm actually excited for more grown up Christmases in the future.

I hope you are all having a great time.

sergeilavrov · 25/12/2020 12:49

This is the longest I’ve seen my children since March due to work travel and the associated COVID risk. Ended up taking a vaccine still in testing to make sure Christmas happened. They are 4 and 1. They are having the best day, Father Christmas has been generous, we have got music, films, loved their Christmas dinner (even the parsnips)! I’ve had to go hide in the bathroom for a minute because I’m overwhelmed with happiness and a bit teary. I’m so grateful for my family. What a year.

Timeturnerplease · 25/12/2020 12:50

My overbearing, anxious, bitter mother is here suffocating 2yo DD (who actually loves it) and questioning my every move because she’s just found out I’m pregnant. I need alcohol to cope but obviously can’t.

Happy to lend her out for anyone who is lonely. I appreciate that this is very ungrateful of me compared to all those people in tier 4 who want to see their parents and can’t.

alltoomuchrightnow · 25/12/2020 12:51

No. Stuck with abusive ex after a breakup, were together 7 yrs, still having to houseshare.. cant see families

FoolsAssassin · 25/12/2020 12:52

We had a family FaceTime for the first time ever and my Dad and Brother ‘saw’ each other for the first time in 14 years and I met my niece for the first time (pushing the bear I made for her in a dolls prom!) and saw my nephew who I have briefly seen online once before. Hoping the borders may open up next year and can meet them in person.

The sun is shining, can’t find the sprouts but really don’t care.

Thewithesarehere · 25/12/2020 12:54

We are having one hell of a day! It’s been great! I am very grateful.

oneglassandpuzzled · 25/12/2020 12:56

Ours is fine. No arguments so far. Apart from I left the gravy at home.

ezzergood · 25/12/2020 12:57

Fab thanks x

Merry Christmas everyone!

Congratulations!
U2HasTheEdge · 25/12/2020 12:58

I am having a lovely day.

Buffet food nearly cooked, waiting for my mum and sister.

Kids are happy with their presents. I am happy with what I got. Looking forward to eating and drinking. It has a very relaxed feel today and I am loving it.

tobesuretobesure · 25/12/2020 12:59

It could be better. DC are very happy but me and DP have covid and feel god awful! Merry Christmas everyone x

Twinkie01 · 25/12/2020 13:01

Yep pressies opened and DS didn't moan about getting up early enough to see DD open her stocking (earliest he's been up for months), got lovely gifts (although 2 too small but DH has already filled in exchange notes and repackaged), warm pastries then playing card games (DS is going all out as he actually deemed us interesting enough to play too), DH has dinner on and now we're going to shower and have dinner.

No plastic tat for anyone other than wind up Santa's for the 2 kids from ILs.

Midwife1997 · 25/12/2020 13:02

Mine is grim. My lovely mother in law died yesterday and we have had to find a temporary foster home for her dog. For lots of reasons we cannot look after her dog. It feels and is a double loss.

Helocariad · 25/12/2020 13:03

Yes, a snuggly day here in rural Wales. Seeing 1 household for dinner later. They live a short stroll away do no driving involved.

BillywigSting · 25/12/2020 13:04

Yes mine is actually pretty pleasant.

Ds didn't get up until about 7, hasn't been overwhelmed with presents (got some quite expensive stuff so quality over quantity).

Mil and her boyfriend came over for breakfast, they went a bit overboard on spending but again not volume (new tablet, few switch games and some clothes and chocolate).

Dp has done 90% of the prep for dinner, dm and df are on their way, the table is set, I've had enough sleep, enough coffee and my living room doesn't look like an explosion in a toy shop.

Everyone is happy with their gifts (mil's gifts to me were perhaps not quite as good as what we got her - a smartwatch, nice pj's, smellies she likes, posh biscuits and chocolates but I'm past caring now and don't expect great things off her anyway. She's got driving lessons for dp and I got market stall pj's, a tin of asda biscuits and a knock off handbag). I got more for dp than he did for me but we agreed on minimal presents and a mini break instead and he's just lost his job so that's wholly on me. He's splashed out on me before so I genuinely don't mind. He's also done an awful lot of the Christmas donkey work without being asked and has generally been pretty great the last couple of months.

Ds is playing with his new toys and I'm continuing to stuff my face with mince pies Xmas Grin

nevereverplease · 25/12/2020 13:05

Mines shit but I always think it's shit. All this hype for...well, shit!

I have loving family too, nothing to complain about but I really just don't like Christmas it all seems forced for forced sake lol

Halfeatentoast · 25/12/2020 13:07

Yep! I've had some truly awful ones in the past but THIS one has been lovely: the kids opening presents, a lovely dinner, just about yo go for a walk- and I'm slightly squiffy. I'm very happy.
