I've woken up with no taste or smell. I can't taste anything at all. Yes, I know what this means. Is it bad that my first thought was about the sourdough, Camembert and chilli jam Sad

Oh crap. Bad timing.

YellowEllis · 23/12/2020 08:26

I mean, it's the most 2020 ending to 2020 that could of happened to me, isn't it.

TomasinaTiers · 23/12/2020 08:28

Freeze the lot, enjoy it later

Look after yourself Brew

Almost exactly the same here although I have a stuffy nose, sneezing and thickly throat. So although v unlikely to be the big c-19, I'm still not feeling much like the £300 of goodies we splurged on last night... I'm not even enjoying my morning coffee much. That's when you know it's bad Shock

Hope you just have a cold! Honestly I feel totally fine, actually woke up in a good mood feeling quite energised. I just can't smell or taste. I'm guessing I'm pretty guaranteed to have it with that aren't I Sad

Gah! Bad luck. Might return quicker than you think though. Mine did. Take care!

FollowThatStarTonight · 23/12/2020 08:36

Oh dear. Try to get a test and then you'll know one way or the other... Hope you feel ok and it's only the loss of taste.

Maybe crack open a box of Celebrations just to check your taste buds? Try one of each just in case Wink

Fishlegs · 23/12/2020 08:38

My loss of sense of smell / taste only lasted 48 hours, so fingers crossed yours will be back by Christmas Day!

SillyUnMurphy · 23/12/2020 08:39

Feel better OP. Agree with another poster to freeze it all and enjoy once your taste sense comes back. I ‘think’ I had CV back in Feb as I had a rotten cold and completely lost my sense of smell and taste - I was guzzling bitter lemon in the hope I would taste something but nope.

whatkatydid2013 · 23/12/2020 08:39

Try and get a test today so you know. They are clearly turning some around fast as we took our daughter yesterday morning at around 10am and results came back at 6:25 this morning

bearlyactive · 23/12/2020 08:48

My loss of smell only lasted a few hours, I wouldn't have noticed it at all if I hadn't had a shower (I couldn't smell the shower gel). Hopefully it will return OP!

JinglingHellsBells · 23/12/2020 08:49

well I hope you are going to a) get a test and b) self isolate along with your family and c) call off any gatherings until you have the results.

I can't see anywhere that she suggested she wouldn't, so there's really no need for that is there
Quarterback11 · 23/12/2020 08:50

My friend woke up with no sense of smell or taste but her test came back negative. Really strange. It came back the next day.

santasmincepie · 23/12/2020 08:53

I have the same! The good news is I can still taste bailey's and wine, so all is not lost!

What is the actual percentage of people with covid then, surely we all starting to completely overreact now? (not saying that you are OP, its just that everyone on here seems to think that "of course u have covid!!!")

Warsawa31 · 23/12/2020 08:56

Bless you OP !

I'm paranoid about that happening to me DD nursery closed last week with covid she is now ill herself. I'm not too worried other than not being able to enjoy the food and wine we have brought to at least have something to enjoy this year

YellowEllis · 23/12/2020 08:57

Yes obviously going to test/follow the rules, please no Covid police. This is clearly a lighthearted thread as instead of being upset about likely having to spend Christmas upstairs away from my toddler, I was joking about Camembert well, half joking

MummaBear4321 · 23/12/2020 08:57

I am currently sitting in my car waiting to be tested. I am supposed to have the inlaws for Christmas day. I am hoping mine is just a cold/dodgy throat. I feel your pain.

Wildernesstips · 23/12/2020 08:57

I had a change to my taste and smell and had a negative COVID test, so not definitely Covid. However mine took 10 days to get back to normal, which is not what you want.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 23/12/2020 08:57

Oh that's cruel timing!

moglovesmincepies · 23/12/2020 08:58
Flowers I have the virus. Touch wood so far still got taste and smell. Hope it returns for you ASAP!

I'm not entirely sure. I am in Wales, and shit has hit the fan here lately so I wouldn't be surprised if I had it, I guess.
