That way when people turn up at the hospital needing access to doctors and equipment, the NHS could see whether or not someone had been following guidelines. The covidiots that haven't could be bumped to the back of the queue for everything.

Doesn’t take long for the fascists to emerge does it?

FromEden · 22/12/2020 23:50

Yeah sounds great OP. Maybe some sort of camps for those "covidiots" would work well also? Hmm

ooohnooo · 22/12/2020 23:50

Absolutely let's just give up all our human rights, what a great idea.

While we are at it, let's not treat alcoholics or smokers or anyone who is fat! Great plan! Hmm

BlankProfile · 22/12/2020 23:51

Just sick of reading threads about people who think they don't have to follow the rules because nobody else they know is. My mum is very vulnerable, has been isolated for months, but I bet if she gets it she won't be treated. How the fuck is that being fascist?

OP posts:
snookercue · 22/12/2020 23:52

You could insert a smoking monitor in the lungs while you are at it. Get the smokers bumped down the list for treatment too Hmm

WouldstrokeTomHardy · 22/12/2020 23:53

Farkin hell?

BlankProfile · 22/12/2020 23:55

The infection rate is rising because people won't follow the guidance. We are running out of beds, staff and equipment, but still people are posting about the many ways they are breaking the rules. I'm just sick of it. How bad does it have to get before people will stay home?

OP posts:
ooohnooo · 22/12/2020 23:56

There is no one not being treated.

Unlike in your suggestion. I'm sick of people judging other people when they know nothing about their situations.

I know more people who's lives/businesses have been ruined by 9 months of restrictions and many more who will not survive financially into the new year, than I do of people effected by the virus.

I think people need some perspective sometimes!

FromEden · 22/12/2020 23:57

If you ask me why do people have the right to buy stuff like cigarettes, alcohol or unhealthy food? Everyone should just stay inside and let the government bring them the essentials. But people are too selfish for that and just love to go on about human rights. Who cares about all that when there's a virus around?! Its only temporary, maybe 2 weeks would do it?

ooohnooo · 22/12/2020 23:57

The infection rate is rising because it's a virus in winter.

People are still expected to work, go to school. It's doing what a virus does. Far, far more people are complying than not.

QueenOfTheDoubleWide · 22/12/2020 23:57

Countries that are more tolerant of state control have done far better in controlling Covid and having an effective tracking and tracing system. It was noticeable many of those whining about how shit the UK was suddenly went quiet when they realised what was needed to achieve that (usually after complaining about it on Facebook or similar from their iPhone so no privacy concerns there Hmm )
I don't care being monitored personally. My life is so dull they could knock themselves out as far as I'm concerned

PhilCornwall1 · 22/12/2020 23:58

And how are you going to track 66.65 million people accurately?

BlankProfile · 22/12/2020 23:58

Just because you don't know anyone who's died doesn't mean it's not happening. Who on earth puts other people's lives at risk so they can see family on NYE as well as Xmas?

OP posts:
BlankProfile · 23/12/2020 00:04

I know full well you can't track everyone. It's just wishful thinking because nothing else seems to be working. Doesn't matter how many die, how fast it is spreading, so many people think they can bend the rules, apply their own logic, cook up explanations as to why they can do what they want.

Oh fascism is alive and well on MN tonight.

Shall we also ‘bump down’ those who’ve chosen to live in a polluted city, ever smoked, drank or eaten a burger....they’re not worthy of treatment are they, OP?

firstevernamechange · 23/12/2020 00:16

@BlankProfile

Do you know people who have lost their jobs because of the measures? I do. Do you know people whose mental health is affected? I do. Do you know children who have had their exams disrupted? Just because you have a nice house with a garden and find isolating easy doesn't mean nobody else is. The virus is behaving like a virus in winter. If it was that easy why don't we lock down and get rid of every affliction known by mankind. These measures are designed so people turn on each other rather than the government. Stick to the rules if it makes you feel better, but don't expect to put my life on hold indefinitely because my risk assessment is different to yours.
BlankProfile · 23/12/2020 00:18

I'm more inclined to thinks the term fascism applies to those who won't follow the rules. They are, after all, the elite who do not need to be troubled by the inconvenience of a pandemic. Rules are for the masses, not for them.

CeibaTree · 23/12/2020 00:20

The infection rate is rising because time and time again the government has failed to get a handle on this. We should have been in a strong position to get control of this situation being an island, but no the idiots in charge missed so many opportunities. So they have cleverly got people like you to turn on your fellow citizens instead of focussing your anger towards Boris and chums.

PhilCornwall1 · 23/12/2020 00:22

Oh, do you mean "in a limited and specific way"?

I don’t know

This has been going on for so long, I’m not sure I can blame the government for this twisted type of thinking

It comes out in people who love it. It’s brought out a side that we were previously lucky we didn’t see.

BlankProfile · 23/12/2020 00:23

firstnamechange- that is at the heart of it. You think you are entitled to make your own "risk assessment". That you know better than the science teams advising the government. That you are - literally - above the law.

Justgorgeous · 23/12/2020 00:24

Where exactly are the hospitals that are running out of beds?

Bootskates · 23/12/2020 00:26

Didn't the handmaids have some sort of tracker in their ear in The Handmaids Tale?

Bit much.

user1471562688 · 23/12/2020 00:27

Oh ffs Hmm

partyatthepalace · 23/12/2020 00:30

OP - if you give up civil liberties, they’ve gone for good. Living in a police state is not something you can opt in and out of. Most of us would not want to live in China, whatever their success (or not) in controlling the virus.
