Ocado have delivered me no gammon and a chicken that goes off on Christmas Eve so now I need to brave the shops and keep my fingers crossed.

How has everyone else faired?

I was surprised that ours was as good as it was.
no bread though which makes bacon sandwiches on christmas day tough

movingonup20 · 23/12/2020 14:43

Made the mistake of ordering online 3 years ago, never again, always been a nightmare. That said I have been to 4 supermarkets in the past 5 days and still haven't got everything, particularly bad this year

Stepintochristmas2020 · 23/12/2020 14:56

Tesco delivery due here between 5 and 7 this evening. Nervous to see what will actually arrive.

Penguinandduck · 23/12/2020 14:57

I had Tesco last night - the trifle, pork pie, coleslaw, cous cous salad and lettuce all go off today! All the substitutions were fine though. Been to Co-op to top up and there was no queue and plenty of stock! Only thing I don’t have is goose fat for the potatoes, which we’ll live without!

KumquatSalad · 23/12/2020 15:05

Mine is coming this evening. From the substitution email I got earlier it looks ok. They’ve substituted a £50 organic turkey crown for the £15 I ordered (so l’ll get a big voucher for the next shop).

No crackers though. And no substitution apparently. So I’ve just walked to the pretty empty supermarket and bought some. There were, predictably, loads.

Talia99 · 23/12/2020 15:26

Tesco delivery has just come. One substitution (Terry’s chocolate orange mini bites rather than a whole chocolate orange) and some short date raspberries. Other than that, everything I asked for is there.

notdaddycool · 23/12/2020 15:51

Think I got tender stem broccoli instead of tender stem broccoli and asparagus, I'm raging. (I'm not sure how it had got in the shop in the first place) I think Tesco have got a lot better over the past few years from when I ordered a goose and got a frozen turkey.

onetwothreeadventure · 23/12/2020 16:22

Asda today and only missed out on some thyme for stuffing. I'm really pleased!

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 23/12/2020 16:24

Asda, 9 subs but they were perfectly fine. No crackers but I can live with that.

FrankskinnerscRoc · 23/12/2020 16:56

I’d never done an online food shop before so I thought I’d give it a whirl. I decided to practice on Iceland & Morrison to begin with, I intend to try them all eventually. Although I do actually like shopping so I shall see how it goes. Now I didn’t really need much so I ordered mainly alcohol from Iceland. I actually only ordered as there was a bottle of Prosecco going for £1 with orders, I know crazy but true as I don’t even like the stuff. Morrison gave me the same items I’d ordered but more of it with 6 items. Very pleased with both orders.

Yorkshireswithallroasts · 23/12/2020 17:05

Sainsbury’s delivery early this morning. All very good, a couple of substitutions but just one brand for another type things. All fresh produce present and correct and with good dates too. Had to go to the Co Op earlier for something I forgot to order and that was well stocked. Very happy.

UghNotThisAgain36 · 23/12/2020 17:12

Asda. Twelve substitutes, the worst of which is a cappacino swiss roll for their fancy yule log and they had no king prawns or After Eights.

sadeyedladyofthelowlands63 · 23/12/2020 17:32

My Sainsbury's delivery on Sunday was fine apart from two items that had "use by" dates of that day! They were very apologetic when I rang them though and refunded me immediately (they were both multi-packs and there's only two of us, otherwise we would have just eaten them).

Shelleyjelly80 · 23/12/2020 17:37

Mine came today, Morrison's-no subs or missing items and they rang me to say they could deliver earlier 🙌🏻🙌🏻 we all cheered after the man had left 🤣

Onedropbeat · 23/12/2020 17:38

My Waitrose shop arrived and the meat was unavailable and they didn’t give any substitution!
So no meat for Christmas 😂

poachedeggsandmushrooms · 23/12/2020 17:43

I got everything apart from cocktail sticks - substitute was rubber bandsGrin I guess I won't be serving cocktail sausages as a starter on Xmas Day!!

poachedeggsandmushrooms · 23/12/2020 17:43

Oh, forgot to say that was Tesco

BreakfastOfWaffles · 23/12/2020 17:44

Ocado delivery this morning, 106 items, no subs or missing items. Bravo!

Stepintochristmas2020 · 23/12/2020 17:54

Tesco delivery just arrived, 80 items. 3 had decent subs, only thing missing was the sprouts. Just sat down with a glass of Wine

Oblomov20 · 23/12/2020 18:00

M&S Food pick up. Priority lane. Dh said it was the most professional easy operation ever and he was really impressed.

scissy · 23/12/2020 18:02

Pre-ordered with our local farm shop for collection. All present and correct, although we did have to collect it a day later as the suppliers hadn't sent through the poultry (they rang us and said we could make 2 trips or come today when it was all available). The car queue system was a wonder to behold though! Grin

Howyoualldoworkme · 23/12/2020 18:04

Waitrose today. Everything on there, no substitutions and good dates. All the salad and veg were fine.
I was a bit Shock but to be fair they are usually pretty good round here.

I8toys · 23/12/2020 18:09

Tesco delivery was great yesterday. Just different pasta salads.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 23/12/2020 18:17

My Tesco's order wasn't too bad. I stupidly forgot to ask for subs for some items ( few cheeses and smoked salmon.) and of course they weren't there. Managed to get them all from a very covid safe farm shop down the road so all good.
Ended up with a ham that was far bigger than I had ordered ( but only paid the smaller price) Turkey had my name on it ( I put this on the order quite a few weeks ago.)

Have found Tesco brilliant as a general rule over all this. Very rarely have stuff missing and the occasional sub unlike ASDA who have been a nightmare ( stopped using them in the summer when one delivery was only half there and the next one didn't turn up despite being charged full price for both...)

I received two boxes of orange matchmakers instead of our chocolate oranges, not quite the same would have preferred bites but they’ll still be scoffed. (Also Tesco)
