How have your Christmas food deliveries worked out?

Ocado have delivered me no gammon and a chicken that goes off on Christmas Eve so now I need to brave the shops and keep my fingers crossed.

How has everyone else faired?

Sainsbury’s hasn’t been yet but I got their email. No chicken, salmon, smoked salmon, trout, seabass or cheese (vegan Wensleydale W/cranberries). Everything else like tatties, veggies, fruit etc is fine.

We’re having lamb on Christmas Day, got it from a farm. The meat/fish was the part of the shopping that was just food for the next few days.

RuthW · 23/12/2020 12:24

Tesco. Subbed a pizza for pizza.

bettxmascake · 23/12/2020 12:26

Why are people getting slots from more than one supplier?*

To get what they need? We had a Gousto box delivered for our main meals and are waiting for a supermarket delivery for the rest of our shopping.

Explains why slots were so difficult to get.

Got everything I ordered from Asda, with a couple of very sensible substitutes. Missed of the bottle of wine I’d treated us to though, but it wasn’t on the order or receipt so can only assume it was my error

@Hathertonhariden There's not much choice if you have to isolate until xmas day though is there?

NisekoWhistler · 23/12/2020 12:36

Order from Ocado of just over £900 and only 6 missing items. Very impressed.

Before any says I was panic buying. I wasn't, it was a massive food bank order and a shop for our household and 2 others who live close by.

Really thinking of people ordering from more than one supermarket rather than from a number of specialist suppliers
felttree · 23/12/2020 12:37

Missing baileys cream, rhubarb, cheeseboard and crackers for cheese.

Few things were substituted but they are acceptable and close substitutes.

Mil very kindly picked all the missing bits up for me at another supermarket at the crack of dawn so I'm not without.

Aurorie11 · 23/12/2020 12:39

Ocado delivered all and no subs

£900!!! I was about to ask to see your shopping list until I saw it was not just for you.

I'm amazed that a food bank shops at Waitrose though, I can't see how that is cost effective when you can get equally good quality food at cheaper supermarkets. Before anybody says anything, I dont buy our food at Waitrose, it's usually from Morrisons.

You keep hearing of people who are isolating who can't get a single slot from a supermarket then there are other who have got slots with more than 1 supermarket who have kept all of the slots and then go out to the shops for missing items. I really feel for those people isolating who are having to make do with whatever they already have in the house.
Sprogstersmum · 23/12/2020 12:40

Tesco delivery - no milk, cream, icing or Yule log. Luckily my wonderful dbro went and got them for me as we're isolating due to DD having COVID. Even better, he went to Waitrose so we now have a much fancier Yule log than the one I ordered. Still no icing though so the Christmas cake is going to be a bit minimal this year.

DorisDaisyMay · 23/12/2020 12:40

Ocado missed three bags of my shopping. This is the first time in 10 years I have had any problems. They refunded the goods plus £20 voucher. I was annoyed because I booked that slot and paid extra for it.

It meant I went to the shops and ended up spending an extra £100 on food including the bits Ocado didn’t deliver. Which, is my choice, but if I hadn’t gone to the shops I doubt I would have spent so much. Part of getting it delivered is so I don’t go to the shops and do that ‘just one more thing’ thing.

Autumnnightsaredrawingin · 23/12/2020 12:41

Tier 4. Ocado yesterday, everything there, only one sub.

bagginses · 23/12/2020 12:41

Tesco- 3 subs but like for like. Very pleased.

Gorbie · 23/12/2020 12:46

Ok for me, but then I don't really order anything much for actual Christmas/ Boxing Day dinner from the supermarket, I've ordered some crisps, dips wine etc, but my meat for both days I get from my butchers, and my veg and cheese I get from the market ( this afternoon or tomorrow) so my delivery Monday was just a normal week shop plus a few extra snacks

Ftumch · 23/12/2020 12:48

Waitrose failed to deliver half my order, no cheese, no fruit and veg, no Christmas pudding and broken eggs, oh and somebody else's cider and nuts! Not impressed at all.

What?? Plenty of slots available in my area when I did my shopping.
I ordered the majority from Ocado but meat to be delivered by a butcher and seafood from a fish mongers. How the fuck am I to blame?

Bonkerz · 23/12/2020 12:49

Asda this morning. Had to do a quick change to order yesterday as I now have an open fracture to my ring finger so ordered all ready prepped veg. Was worried BUT 8 subs and only 2 were naff rest was perfect!!!!! So it's open packets on Christmas Day and preps all done but it's all still fresh.

Luckily we bought all Christmas meat back in October which is now defrosting in fridge.

augustusglupe · 23/12/2020 12:52

We cancelled our Ocado. Went to Tesco and Marks at 7 this morning. They were well stocked with everything. The Turkey/Goose collection at Marks went smoothly. There weren't too many people, very small queue. We were home by 9.30.

JurassicShay · 23/12/2020 12:53

Went to Tesco to pick up the missing bits.
No twiglets, cheeselets, tubs of chocs, choc Santa's & the like, brandy butter, goose fat, double cream, candy canes.

Did manage to get a turkey crown with a date of the 30th!

ShrekandDonkey · 23/12/2020 12:54

5 subs from Tesco this morning but happy with all of them. Only missing some petit pains but I can live without them.

KenAdams · 23/12/2020 12:55

Its not a Thoughtful Producer chicken is it?

Tesco delivered on Monday, first time for months that there were no subs and all dates till at least boxing day. Was expecting a nightmare
