How have your Christmas food deliveries worked out?

Ocado have delivered me no gammon and a chicken that goes off on Christmas Eve so now I need to brave the shops and keep my fingers crossed.

How has everyone else faired?

My Waitrose order came, all there. Woohoo My driver was very happy with the xmas tip. Smile

frustrationcentral · 23/12/2020 10:01

@BreastedBaubleyToTheSleighs

Our veggie Christmas main (from the order in advance festive food section) expires on the 24th, and they replaced vegetarian stuffing with pork and apple stuffing that expires on the 23rd Hmm

Otherwise all good though.

That's ridiculous! Especially as you'd ordered in advance!

Tesco have been great again, really reliable and great dates on things too

About 4 subs out of 95 items so cannot complain at all

They've definitely made this year much easier for our family with their reliable service

Also if anyone is waiting for a delivery, I messaged them and they sent me the invoice with dates and subs etc so I didn't have to wait all day to find out

Whatamesssss · 23/12/2020 10:02

@Onedropbeat

We love Waitrose too. Mine is coming later. Must write a card to give to the driver when it arrives. Not too sure if I should put anything in the card
If you are giving a card, I would definitely put money in it.

Merry ChristmasXmas Grin

MasterOfCaffeine · 23/12/2020 10:04

I had 7-8 subs, but all decent and acceptable, and the only thing missing was a leg of pork, which I only bought on a whim for the days after xmas anyway. Good result here Xmas Grin

LilyE1234 · 23/12/2020 10:10

Tesco click and collect - no subs and nothing missing 🙌🍾 everything in date until at least Boxing Day
I think it helped that I picked a collection from the massive depot instead of one of the stores

MadisonAvenue · 23/12/2020 10:23

My Tesco delivery is coming this afternoon. I don’t know exactly what’s missing as you don’t find out until it arrives but the amount debited from my bank account is around £10 below the order value when I placed it. Looking through what I ordered on the website they’re currently out of stock on things I ordered like double cream, toilet rolls, eggs, bread and bacon.

Whatdidisay · 23/12/2020 10:33

Mines just arrived, the turkey gravy was substituted for chicken gravy and they subbed up to a larger Christmas pud apart from that all present and correct!

SquirtleSquad · 23/12/2020 10:35

No Christmas pudding and no substitution available from Sainsburys apparently - that's fine I'm sure I can get one when I go to get diesel later from somewhere.
All other substitutions were absolutely fine Xmas Smile

Ceebeegee · 23/12/2020 10:38

Asda were okay. Ordered three different types of cheese(camembert, port salut and boursin) they were all substituted for the same brie so I have an abundance of brie now.

Ready roll pastry missing but not too bothered :)

rosie39forever · 23/12/2020 10:41

I had Asda yesterday all there including pre ordered free range turkey, one sub different mince pies so win win. I have Tesco coming this morning so 🤞.

Forestdweller11 · 23/12/2020 10:49

Asda delivery this morning. One sub. Ardennes pate subbed for Ardennes pate... Same brand, weight, style etc so what was going on there I'm not sure !

Everything else all present and correct.

I never amended my order once I'd placed it though.

Driver said local store where delivery comes from was busy, but had been quiet on Tuesday afternoon when he'd done his shopping.

lubeybooby · 23/12/2020 10:49

Had a small Waitrose order on 21st of longer life/cupboard stuff, all present and correct despite the email claiming a couple of things were missing - very odd

Sainburys coming today with all the fresh stuff, 15 subs but all are fine and sensible - only one thing not available and that was sprouts

Bicnod · 23/12/2020 10:52

Asda came today with turkey 🦃 phew. Only subs were binbags. All veg etc fine, all sell by dates fine. Very relieved.

Scattyhattie · 23/12/2020 11:28

My asda delivery came last night, I did order 2 different veggie Wellingtons for the day just in case. Was relieved only 2 subs, weirdly my pizza was missing & not subbed, & I got a family sized trifle instead of a sticky toffee pudding, no idea how will get through that in 24hrs. Toilet rolls were missing but not on amended list & i found some hard goats cheese that I didn't order.

Lookatthemshine · 23/12/2020 11:34

Tesco order arrived this morning. Only 2 small subs on 94 item order - both good subs. Very pleased.

This just happened to us today. A large chicken, delivered at 10am today and that is use by tomorrow.

We'll still be eating it on Xmas Day but I think Ocado are fuckers and are so much worse with M&S than with Waitrose.

PattyPan · 23/12/2020 11:48

Sainsbury’s - no organic lettuce or organic grapes and for my 8.30pm delivery they sent a loaf of bread best by the same day Hmm Had to pick up the turkey in store anyway as had done that through food to order, so managed to get everything in the end.
I am in the dunce’s corner though because I thought turkey collection day was today and it turns out it was yesterday... they still let us get it though! Xmas Grin

Petitmum · 23/12/2020 11:50

I collected a large order from Morrisons this morning, everything was there, no subs at all 🎉😃

Mustbe3ormorecharacters · 23/12/2020 12:00

Ocado last night no missing items and no substitutions awkwardly handed the driver his tip in a sealed plastic bag.

LovingLen · 23/12/2020 12:04

Waitrose, about five subs but got similar items, free range chicken was subbed with more expensive duchy organic chicken so all good, no williams pears but didn't ask for sub

Notnt · 23/12/2020 12:11

I bought all the main dishes (turkey crown, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, etc.) at the start of the month (all frozen). Only other thing I needed was sprouts which Asda delivered on Sunday with a best before date of today. 🙈 Managed to pick some more up though so it's fine.

Hathertonhariden · 23/12/2020 12:12

Why are people getting slots from more than one supplier?

unknownentity · 23/12/2020 12:13

Tesco shop here. No bucks fizz or substitution for that.

NO PIGS IN BLANKETS!!!! Subbed with frozen cocktail sausages Hmm

Sausagemeat dated Christmas eve - now in the freezer.

DH went to sainsbos and got everything we needed plus MIL's shopping as the 95 item limit didn't cut it due to all the booze and cheese we bought Blush

Mustbe3ormorecharacters · 23/12/2020 12:14

@Hathertonhariden

Why are people getting slots from more than one supplier?
I did because I order different things from different places.
