Where are all the mumsnetters who:

 • are mid-millennial
 • Extremely Online
 • left wing
 • probs on Twitter
 • do not think gaming is the scourge of society and causes you to turn into a zombie
 • does not know anyone who unironically plays golf

Bonus points for ex-emo kids.

Do you exist?

@SionnachRua

Also OP a lot of my ex-emo mates (feels sad saying that...once an emo, always an emo 🤣) love KPop now. Very different music but a great scene to get into!
HAHA funnily enough my (extremely grown up professional) ex-emo kid boyfriend LOVES KPop. It is veeery catchy - I get Likey by TWICE stuck in my head about 3 times a week haha!

Oh, yes, I'd forgotten about deadjournal! I loved myspace but didn't really get in to it until I was 15/16.

Ooh, what about a diaryland diary! and a Xanga.

Neopets used to be cool too.

Does anyone remember the AOL kids area? I spent sooo much time there between 10-13. Also used to troll the conspiracy theory chat room on AOL too.

The things I got up to on the internet in the early 2000s and my parents didn't have a clue.

Daphnise · 22/12/2020 17:58

I suppose the OP is a remoaner too!

nosswith · 22/12/2020 17:58

I've seen Green Day live and listened to MCR, does that get me in?

MedusasBadHairDay · 22/12/2020 17:58

Bit older than you and goth - one of those who hated that people thought emo had any relation to the goth scene.

Used to more online than I am now, it was too much pointless effort for little benefit. Deleted my old twitter account this year, and set up a new account where I only follow a handful of people and am followed by even less. It's nicer that way.

Love gaming though, currently glad to be a PC gamer as its meant I can play cyberpunk without too many issues.

SionnachRua · 22/12/2020 17:59

Hah interesting! More data for my theory that lots of emo heads have moved onto KPop...I am a shameless Once myself Grin (Twice fan for those not in the know)!

user1471565182 · 22/12/2020 17:59

Jesus christ why are people so angry (not OP). Just calm. down. You wouldnt dream of talking to people like this in real life.

RUTheShitploppeeOrShitplopper · 22/12/2020 17:59

OP, your thread has taken off but it seems at least half of the posters missed the "... only need apply" part of it.

Or have you changed your mind? Grin

whoamongstus · 22/12/2020 17:59

@user1471565182

yeah me probably. Think Corbyn was shite though.
Hiya! I'm not a diehard Corbynite by any means. Although I would like a bit more socialism. Or...any.

I've changed my mind, it's keeping me amused Grin. And I'm enjoying the chat. If you don't wanna listen to Fall Out Boy I won't judge any of you, promise... Wink

Deviantart and Omegle were my major timewasters back in the day...the hours I spent trolling on Omegle, dear God.

I'm no good. I'm probably the very opposite. I am online a lot though. But don't do twitter

I used to pretend to be 18 on Lycos chat rooms. I wasn't even necessarily up to anything untoward but there were definitely a LOT of absolute wronguns on there. My mum was blissfully ignorant and only saw the Neopets and Habbo Hotel side...

I do occasionally still like to listen to taking back sunday, brand new, AFI, sunny day real estate, jack's mannequin etc.

I've also just logged in to my old art & fan fiction LJ. Ahh, memories!

I'm not much of a gamer, I love games like animal crossing, stardew valley etc. Never been in to COD or the like. Although I do love borderlands.

Tierrasfuente · 22/12/2020 18:03

What does knowing people who play golf have to do with anything?

Laiste · 22/12/2020 18:04

I was a teen in the 80s. (An original goth, if you like.)

By the time i was aged 31 i'd long ago stopped seeking out and identifying with my generation label. You write as if you haven't quite got out of teenage hood OP.

Gardeniaofdelights · 22/12/2020 18:05

I agree that it would be embarrassing to me if people in RL knew I was on mumsnet. I don’t know anyone else my age who admits to it even though there must be thousands of us. It’s definitely seen as a bit cringe. I loves it though Grin (aside from the transphobia).

whoamongstus · 22/12/2020 18:05

Fair point - and agreed on the goth/emo distinction. Not the same at all, except for wearing a lot of black!

I am a baby gamer - I'm learning off my boyfriend, who builds his own PCs and thinks it's funny that I'm having to learn to use a keyboard to play Phasmophobia with him... Grin

Hello there!
Leftie ex goth twitterer of 1982 vintage over here 👋

Doughnut100 · 22/12/2020 18:05

People who find mumsnet embarrassing = -misogynists
-girls/women who haven't yet worked out that one day we all lose our potential for sexual objectification and get relegated to the societal scrap heap (see: misogynists)

God, women who like to talk about stuff with other women are like, eew. I'm not like other girls. Flicks blue hair. 🙄

ladyvimes · 22/12/2020 18:06

Pretty left wing millennial here but not on Twitter and my husband has just taken up golf (not joking!!). What’s wrong with golf??

parlourpalm · 22/12/2020 18:06
@palourpalm do you not see the irony? Just hide the thread duck.
No it's fun.

I'm in tier 4, miscarrying and bored.

RUTheShitploppeeOrShitplopper · 22/12/2020 18:06

Oh no, I liked your post from the start. Just don't qualify for most but since it's alright either way, I'm in.

I definitely don't think gaming is the scourge of society and turns you into a zombie, though I never rarely play.

I'm 'no wing'.

And thanks for a new username by the way Grin.

Yes. As MN would say, please clutch your pearls appropriately now
