NO. NO. NO. NO. NO.
The country has been ruined enough.
People's mental health has been ruined enough.
Business has been ruined enough.
Education has been ruined enough.
The entire futures of the younger generation have been ruined enough, for a virus which barely affects them, and THEY will be the ones paying the consequences of pleaded-for-by-Mumsnet lockdown for years, if not decades, to come. Is this what we really want?
We need to see lockdown for the TOTAL FUCKING DISASTER which it is. While we're in the thick of things, it is being painted as the only solution, rightly or wrongly: but we MUST NOT look back on it fondly, and some people on Mumsnet seem determined to do. By the time the reality of lockdown (not the virus, LOCKDOWN) bites, with millions unemployed, thousands dead by suicide, Boris the buffoon will be long gone, creaming off his millions, and the young will be facing a very bad situation, which was caused by people "baying for lockdown". Also, now that the monumental precedent of lockdown has been set, I do foresee a danger that lockdown might become the go-to solution every time there's a slightly worse flu season than usual: people might say "help, the NHS is getting overwhelmed, we need a lockdown: give us our pocket money so we don't have to work".
Lockdown has also revealed an extremely ugly side to public behaviour, and government by division, deliberate misinformation, scaremongering, gaslighting, and treating the public like idiots. Yes, I know mumsnet thinks the public are idiots and "selfish arseholes": perhaps it's a self-fulfilling prophecy of how we are being treated by The Three Bellends. I know that the above methods of government happen all the time, they're just plainly obvious right now.
Also, I don't see the point of this obsession with "keeping as much of the population alive at all costs, albeit in an extremely miserable existence". The world is a dangerous and risky place. People die. Life itself has a 100% mortality rate.
